The sun is still shining and we may yet have another�Indian Summer which is almost par for the course in our�neck of the woods. I have been stacking wood, canning and�making other preparations for winter. I’m ready for the fall�rains and the excuse to spend time in my sewing room.�

EVENTS� We have been working hard at getting ready for our�annual anniversary celebration.. It’s hard to believe it’s been�28 years this month that the store has been open and that�I’ve had it for 17 of those years. We can’t wait to see what�wonderful UFO projects have been completed this year and�hung in our retreat center.� The show will be held September 23rd and 24th in�our upstairs retreat center (chairlift available for�transporting people up and down the stairs). Downstairs in�the shop, we will be holding our anniversary celebration�where you can take 28% off of one regularly priced item�(limit one per day), plus enter to win either a 2 night stay for�you and 2 friends in our retreat center or a beautiful�merchandise basket (receive one entry for every $20 spent on�regularly priced merchandise) and we’ll have a special�selection of fabrics priced at $7 per yard.�

We still have some room in both sessions in our�Camp Quilt Away retreat being held in Elkton again this�year. Session #1 begins Thursday, October 13th and runs�through Sunday, October 16th. Session #2 begins Sunday,�October 16th and runs through Wednesday, October 19th.�We mainly work on our own projects (it’s nice to have�dedicated time to work on those projects you’ve started but�not finished yet). I do teach an optional short technique�class on the first full day. Pricing includes lodging, all your�meals and the optional class. For 3 people to a cabin, it’s�$300 per session. For 2 people to a cabin, it’s $350 per�session. And if you wish to room by yourself then it’s $460�per session.� In November, we will be again doing our�merchandise basket drawing. From November 1st through�November 19th, you will receive one entry for every $25�spent on merchandise (regular or discounted). We will draw�on November 20th for the first basket. Basket #2 will run�from November 20th to December 3rd (drawing on�December 4th), and Basket #3 will run from December 4th�through December 23rd (drawing on December 26th).�

Upcoming Quilt Shows�The Coos Sand n Sea quilt guild will host their annual show�on September 17th & 18th at the Boys & Girls Club in Coos�Bay. I will be vending at this show for the first time in�several years.�

On September 23rd & 24th, we will be hosting our�anniversary celebration quilt show at the shop in our Me-�Shell’s By the Seashore Quilter’s Retreat Center again this�year. This show features the finished projects from our�annual UFO challenge. We’ve been getting between 150 to�175 quilts and other projects and hope to do so again this�year.�

Then we’ll be off to the Hugo Schoolhouse outside of Grants�Pass on October 7th and 8th for their annual show. This is�always a fun show with wonderful quilts on display in the�old schoolhouse while the vendors brave the elements�outside.�

In November, I will be vending at the Quilt, Craft & Sew�Expo in Puyullap, Washington November 17th - 19th. This�expo is a great opportunity to see lots of different suppliers�covering a whole range of quilting and sewing supplies.�

Other Important Items�We have a full class schedule planned for this fall. Rosy and�I are always interested in your feedback on what type of�classes you would like to see offered.�

We will be closed for Thanksgiving on November 24th. Our�regular store hours are Monday through Saturday, 10 am to�5:30 pm and Sundays from 11 am - 4 pm. Welcome back to�the sewing season!�

Halloween Crazy Scrap Wallhaning�Saturday, October 1st 10 am - 4 pm�Taught by Rosy & Michelle. $20�Rosy & Michelle put their heads together & designed this�fun Halloween wall hanging featuring crazy patch panes�with fusible applique Halloween silhouettes. However, if�you decide you want to do a different theme (like Christmas�and Michelle will give you custom silhouette patterns for�your theme). Book and crazy scrap templates required.�

Technique Class 101 - Continuous Binding�Monday, October 10th 2 pm - 4 pm�Taught by Michelle. $10 (includes kit)�Learn to put on continuous binding to finish up your quilt�top. This binding class is great for beginner’s or those more�advanced that want to learn this technique.�

Mondo Bag�Saturday, October 22nd 10 am - 4 pm�Taught by Rosy. $20�Using the Mondo Bag Quiltsmart foundation�as a base, this pieced bag holds quite a bit.�You can use either 2 1/2” squares or 5” charm�squares if you wish to finish a little faster.�Pattern kit required.�

Then make the reversible outside cover�so that you can choose your purse to match�your mood or your wardrobe. Make several�outside covers and you can have a different purse every day�of the week without ever having to transfer the inside�contents! Pattern required.�

Beginning Quilting�Saturdays, November 5th & 12th 9 am - 4 pm�Taught by Michelle. $40�This two day course will take you through most of the�basics necessary to get started in quilting. We will be�making a table runner which will take you through the�process of choosing fabric, basic rotary cutting skills,�piecing, and finishing your project. By the time you’re�done you will have a basic understanding of the entire�process so that you can move onto another project with�confidence.�

Turban Footstool�Saturdays, January 14th & 28th 10:30 am - 1:30 pm�Taught by Sheila. $105 (includes kit fee)�Join Sheila Sinclair Snyder for a fast and�fun class in making the ever-popular�Turban Footstool! Sheila has developed�a huge part of her business around this�class and has the expertise and experience�to teach even the novice how to create�their own masterpiece. As long as you know how to use�your sewing machine, she can teach you the rest. You will�supply the pretty part of the footstool: your choice of fabrics�to suit your personality and needs. Kits for the internal parts�(base, foam, tufting cords, templates) are part included in�the class fee. The class is taught over two days with time in�between for homework.�
