Chinley is a charming rural village lying in the Blackbrook Valleyon the western edge of the Peak District National Park, which

offers breath-taking views and fantastic opportunities forpastimes such as cycling and walking.

To the north of the village is Cracken Edge, a once-quarriedpromontory of Chinley Churn, a large prominent hill with

excellent views over the surrounding countryside. An old winding engine can still be seen on the summit on thenorth-eastern face of Cracken Edge. Brown Knoll commands

the skyline on the eastern border of the village, with SouthHead and Mount Famine to the north-east.

Immediately south of the village is Eccles Pike, an almostconical hill, partly owned by the National Trust. Filling the
