April is Autism Awareness Month!!!

During the month of April, Forest Run will be recognizing Autism Awareness Month in order to bring attention and acceptance to ASD. We’re going to do our part to recognize this month with the following activities:

April 5 - "Light it Up Blue" – the entire school will wear blue to shine a light on Autism. Light it Up Blue is a unique global initiative that kicks-off Autism Awareness Month and helps raise awareness about autism. In honor of this historic day, many iconic landmarks, hotels, sporting venues, concert halls, museums, bridges and retail stores are among the thousands of buildings lit blue to raise autism awareness. Come dressed in Blue to show School Spirit!

April 12 - “Wave your Flag” … Accept Autism” Community Walk – leading up to the Community Walk, each class will create a flag to show an understanding of Autism after watching age-appropriate videos and having class discussions. We will begin with a brief school-wide assembly before we begin our walk

During the entire month, we will be selling “Kapow” Pops and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to Kerry’s Place Autism Services. Kerry’s Place supports thousands of families touched by Autism Spectrum Disorder every year. Pops will be sold for $1.50 each, are peanut and nut free and gluten

free. Intermediate students will be going class to class starting next week selling the pops before lunch recess.
