This entire habitat that we live in has immense
biodiversity

Biodiversity or biological diversity
The variability among living organisms on the earth, including the variability within and between species and ecosystems

Tropical rainforests
Some rainforest monkeys are omnivores, eating both animals and plants
80% of the flowers in the Australian rainforests are not found anywhere else in the world

Sub-tropical forests
Bats are essential for the pollination of many tropical foodstuffs such as bananas and mangoes

Plantation forests
As the climate change issue reaches fever pitch, interest in the use of forests as a means of
removing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere has accelerated
Forest establishment can also contribute to other social and environmental outcomes.

Montane forests
The elevation of the montane forests life zone is from about 8,000 to 10,000 ft above sea level.
You can tell that you are getting higher in the mountains by the cooler temperatures, the dense mountain forests, and by the increased precipitation throughout the year.

Temperate forests
-Animals that live in the temperate deciduous forest must be able to adapt to the changing seasons.
-Lichen, moss, ferns, wildflowers and other small plants can be found on the forest floor

Mediterranean forests
Mediterranean forests, woodlands, and scrub , defined by the World Wildlife Fund, characterized by dry summers and rainy winters.

DID YOU KNOW?
Over 81,000 species of fauna and 47,000 species of flora are found in this country. 15,000 flowering species are endemic (indigenous) to India!!

‘Threatened’ and then ‘Critical’
10% of India’s recorded wild flora and 20% of its mammals are on the threatened list. Many of these are right now categorized as ‘critical’.

VANISHING FORESTS
The dimensions of deforestation in India are staggering. The forest cover in the country is estimated to be 637,293 sq km, which is 19.39 % of the total area .According to the State of Forest Report , the dense forest cover has increased due to plantation by different agencies. The State of Forest Report does not differentiate between natural forest and plantation. These report also fail to giver accurate information about vanishing forests.
