From the Principal…..

All of us at Forbes North Public School are very much looking forward to the P&C Easter Fete, to be held from 3:30 to 5:30pm this Friday afternoon, April 5th.

The P&C Executive and Committee, along with a large number of very keen volunteers, have been working tirelessly behind the scenes to make sure this year’s Fete is another resounding success. With plenty of stalls and activities – including the Anytime Fitness Picnic Games and Forbes Toyota Kids’ Karaoke Competition – there will be fun for all the family and heaps of things to see and do!

Stalls and activities will be set up in the central grassed area between A, B and C Blocks and entry will be via the gate adjacent to A Block off Thomson Street. We look forward to seeing you all there!

Have a great week! Steve McAlister Principal

Kitchen News

Last week in Kitchen, Stage 1 created ‘Food Group Kebabs’ (Year 1) and ‘Plate o’ Food Groups’ (Year 2). These recipes gave the students a practical opportunity to build on their knowledge of the Food Groups, which they have looked at with Miss McManus during PD/H/PE lessons. They also link with the HSIE unit for the term – Groups in

our Community.

WHITE ELEPHANT/ PLANT/ BOOK STALL

The school fete is fast approaching and we would like to ask for donations of any clean and not broken unwanted items you may have at home that can be sold in our stall. Any donations of plants or pots and books are most welcome and can be sent into the school with your child or dropped in to the school office.

FETE COOKING STALL DONATIONS As you all kindly donated home baked goodies for our cake stall last year we decided to ask everyone to get behind the cake stall and help us out again. We received a huge response last year it was awesome. A container will be sent home with all students today. Please bake some yummy treats and fill out the ingredients label on the lid. They need to be returned to the school canteen on Friday. I have extra containers if anyone would like some. The class with the most entries will win a Prize. Thank you all for your support! Deb

Art Sessions Reward!! The students have reached the celebration Art Sessions for PBL! The students will be completing this celebration throughout week 10 and 11 this term to create an artwork to be displayed in the hall. There is no cost or requirements for this celebration, and we can’t wait to see how it turns out - because as Picasso says "Every child is an artist".

Thank you to AusWest Seeds for the very kind donation of 2 bags of feed for the chooks.

The students will be talking about our school and all the wonderful things that have been happening, and those events which are coming up. PINK STUMPS DAY We got our Pink ON!!

On Friday, Forbes North hosted a Pink Stumps day to help raise money for breast cancer. As a school we raised over $1300 for the McGrath Foundation which will go a long way in assisting with women living with breast cancer. It was great to see so many of our students get involved and get their pink on for the day. The best dressed in the Jr School were Jordy Shaw and Issac Knight and Philip Klingner and Sarah Herford won for the seniors. Our 1st place prize winner was Alani Brunt, Bert Ward got the 2nd place and Ethan and Chelsea Ray 3rd. The students enjoyed a morning of cricket activities in their sport groups and hung out with the Sydney Thunder Mascot Thor!

Thank you to Miss McManus for organising such a fantastic day!!

Forbes North is participating in this years Big Vegie Crunch!

What is The Big Vegie Crunch?

Only around 5% of NSW children eat enough vegetables. To help our community do better, our school will be taking part in The Big Vegie Crunch (part of Vegetable Week) at 10:20am on Thursday 4th April.

Primary schools across NSW will be joining together to break the record for the most students crunching vegetables simultaneously. Last year 50,260 students crunched together.

What can you do to help?

• Pack a container of vegetables (not fruit this time) for your child to eat on Thursday 4th April • Keep serving up the vegetables at home and in your children’s lunchboxes!

If you require more information on what activities our school is doing over Vegetable Week, please contact the school or your child’s teacher.
