2. Hannibal Hannibal is an anti-realist drama which features to cannibals that have murdered and taken out body parts of women. And a police officer with an over active imagination has to imagine how they did it to capture them. The advert for Hannibal is dramatic with the odd gore. Each advert has a series of . Special effects have been used to create the death effects.Hannibal features police officers trying to capture a murderer which mixes in with both Whitechapel and Dexter. They use the same camera shots to add effect and tension to each advert. For iconography the advert features the dark surroundings usually featured in a horror TV program gaining the attention of the right audience. 3. Dexter A narrative is played overthe top. Colours mainly used Red and black. (Bright colours used to show the main character)Eerie song compels thewatchers and intrigues them. I believe the river ofblood flow on the screen is to show the extent of murders. 4. The walking Dead The trailer I am analyzing is The walking dead a TV program about a zombie apocalypse. In the first 30 seconds it shows officer Rick Grimes being shot and waking up in a disserted hospital. The scenes are all stereotypical to a zombie apocalypse empty streets and a empty town. Using the stereotypical apocalyptic scenes benefit them because it gains the attention of horror/thrillers lovers and gets the right target audience.Unlike the rest of the adverts The Walking dead features the dead/zombies which are monsters and the rest have human killers. 5. Whitechapel The start of the trailer you hear a voice say Welcome Back Gentlemen, without even seeing the show before you can tell it is leading on from a previous series. Also the lights above them signifies the start of the new series and also has the effect of the start of a new day which viewers will recognise as turning the lights on is the first thing you do in the morning. You call also tell it is a serious drama series from when the word Gentlemen was used, it is a formal greeting commonly used in a serious television or film productions. The audio played in the background is a fairly monotone which suggest a serious event may be about to occur in the show. The text and overlay is complementing the footage of the show in the trailer which adds to the serious genre of the show. The speech from characters in the show give the person watching the trailer a brief idea of what it is about, this will encourage them to watch the full show to see what happens. Towards the end of the trailer an echo of speech is used, this can be recognised as a memory of a voice in your head which repeats itself. 6. ASA The Advertising Standards Authority in the UKs independent regulator of advertising across all media. They apply act on complaints against misleading, harmful or offensive advertisements. ASA is there to ensure that the content in any media is legal, honest and truthful. In our adverts due it being a horror it could feature too much gore and murder or be featured before the watershed. 7. Ofcom are independent telecommunications regulators and communications authority for the United Kingdom (Office of Communications) The regulation was established in the UK to govern UK broadcasting as well as other areas of the media and telephony industry They regulate the TV and radio sectors, fixed line telecoms, mobiles, postal services, plus the airwaves over which wireless devices operate Ofcom is funded by fees from industry for regulating broadcasting and communications networks The UK has a wide range of electronic communications services, including highspeed services such as broadband They also have a wide range of high quality television and radio programs which appeal to a range of tastes and interests 8. BARB (Broadcasters Audience Researching board) BARB collate data about TV programs and when the British audience are watching and when.BARB commissions several companies to collect the initial data on viewing figures which it then collates into reports. The companies it commissions are: RSMB, Ipsos MORI and Kantar Media. These companies are responsible for providing information about what is being watched and when. RSMB is also responsible for providing the sample addresses to ensure that the sample is representative of a UK audience. They consider demographics, the equipment owned by households and social class in order to create the sample. If a household is selected after the survey they will become part of a panel. The panel is made up of geographical areas, which do not overlap so that BARB can find specific differences between areas.
