Library Officer

Applications are invited to fill a full time position within the Murray Library, situated in Pinjarra. If you possess excellent customer service skills, suitable office administration skills and can demonstrate reliability, enthusiasm and good initiative, then we would like to hear from you. In this key support role, you will be assisting in the efficient operation of the Shire’s Library Services by undertaking customer service duties at the Library circulation desk, general administrative support and assisting with Library programs to all ages in the community. A level 3 salary range of $45,192 to $47,419 per annum (plus superannuation) depending on skills and experience is applicable to this position. Penalties for Saturday and evening work as per the Local Government Officers’ (WA) Interim Award 2011 will apply. General Conditions of Employment

Library Officer

Employment Medical: Short-listed applicants will be requested to undertake a pre-employment medical, paid for by the Shire. Any offer of employment will be conditional upon the applicant being assessed as fit for the proposed employment.

Police Clearance: Provision of a National Police Clearance not more than three months old will be required to support eligibility for this position.

Supporting Documents: Originals of supporting documents must be made available on request (eg. National Police Clearance, Motor Vehicle Licence/s and Tertiary Qualifications where applicable).

Probationary Period: A standard probationary period of three (3) months applies to all new appointments within the Shire, primarily to give time to assess the incumbent’s knowledge of, and suitability to, the role employed. The probation period may also be extended if necessary.

Contract/Salary: This is a full-time position attracting a level 3 salary range of $45,192 to $47,419 per annum dependent on skills and experience, with relevant conditions of employment as per the Shire of Murray (Administration Staff) EBA 2012.

Superannuation: Council currently contributes 9% to the Statutory Occupational/Guarantee Fund. Should you choose to join the contributory scheme upon completion of a qualifying period, Council will contribute up to a further 3½% to the scheme.

Hours: This is a full time position working 76 hours rostered per fortnight. Any variables to

Staff) EBA 2012. Long Service Leave: In accordance with the Local Government (Long Service leave) Regulations. Sick Leave: In accordance with the Shire of Murray (Administration Staff) EBA 2012. Uniform Allowance: An annual uniform subsidy applies to permanent employees, in accordance with Council

Policy. Study Assistance: Employees who have enrolled for technical education relevant to their position may have a

portion of enrolment fees paid upon successfully completing each nominated subject at the discretion of the CEO.

Gym Membership: All employees working for the Shire of Murray are offered free gymnasium membership at the Murray Leisure Centre as per the Shire of Murray (Administration Staff) EBA 2012.

effective management of the Library and information system. • To be an active member of the library team with a positive approach to change.

5 Requirements of the Position

5.1 Skills • Sound interpersonal and customer service skills, with the ability to liaise with various

agencies and internal customers, and work in a team environment. • Well developed verbal and written communication skills. • Sound time management and organisational skills. • Good working knowledge of MS Office computer software. • Sound typing skills. • Flexibility in learning new skills and contributing towards continuous improvement. • Ability to work with minimal supervision, use initiative and accept accountability for own
