CARE

We are committed to providing the very best possible care for our residents. We never forget that as an individual your care is unique to you. This is always uppermost in our minds when planning your care, ensuring that the care we provide suits your personal requirements.

Our care records are updated on a daily basis, which reflects your changing requirements and priorities.

BATHS

Staff are always available to assist you with your bathing needs.

LAUNDRY

We will wash and iron all your clothes in our laundry. We do request that all of your clothing be clearly marked with named labels. You will appreciate that we do a considerable amount of washing and cannot take responsibility for items that are not clearly labelled, and therefore may go astray.

LIBRARY

At Seven Gables we have an in-house library, which is regularly reviewed to ensure a wide and varied selection of books. If you have any favourite authors or preference, please let us know as we can try and obtain a selection for you.

RELIGION

We have contact with all the local ministers, and visits can be arranged at your request. We will only be too happy to assist you in your religious beliefs or customs.

DOCTOR

If you come to us from outside of our GPs area, we will advise you of the choice you will have of a GP from the local practice. If you need to consult your doctor, we can make the appointment, either for the doctor to visit you, or alternatively arrange for you to attend the surgery. The doctor will visit you in the privacy of your own room at Seven Gables.

DENTIST

Usually each resident has arrangements with their own dentist, although we could arrange for a dentist to visit you in the home should you require one. We can help you to make arrangements if you need to have treatment at the surgery or hospital.

CHIROPODY

A chiropodist visits the home on a monthly basis.

HEARING

We will assist you and ensure that you receive advice on problems relating to hearing difficulties, either privately or through the NHS.

OPTICIAN

If you do not have your own, we have an optician who will visit; arrangements could be made to ensure that your appointments are kept.

HAIRDRESSER

Again you have a choice. If you have a hairdresser who will visit you in the home, you may make your own arrangements. Alternatively we have a hairdresser who visits the home on a weekly basis.

ACTIVITIES

Most of our residents prefer a quiet life, and spend much of their time reading, watching tv or chatting with other residents, visitors and staff. We enjoy weekly entertainment, garden parties and summer barbeques. However we do recognise your independence and freedom of choice. The types of activities and the frequency are often changed to best suit individual needs.

BIRTHDAYS

As we know your birth date from our records, we will always remember your special day and the cook will bake you a cake, unless you request to us differently. Do not worry though, we will not place too many candles on your cake so as to give your age away!

HOBBIES

We do always want to encourage you to continue with your existing hobbies or to explore new ones. Please tell us about your interests. We really want to know, as over the years we have gained much pleasure in learning about helping wherever possible to attain individual pursuits. Maybe we can suggest something that would interest and stimulate you. The choice is virtually unlimited, and even if you have a disability, there are still many interesting and relaxing ways to spend your leisure time.

FURNITURE

It is important that you are as comfortable as you would be in your own home. We will be happy to discuss with you the feasibility of bringing your own special items into the room you have chosen. We strive to please, but at all times have safety uppermost in our minds.

We do like you to personalise your room and will be happy to hang your favourite pictures for you.

ELECTRICAL ITEMS

It is our policy to make sure that all of our electrical equipment at Seven Gables is checked on an annual basis. If you bring with you electrical items of your own, then we would ask you to have them checked out with a qualified electrician prior to your admission. After that there is no need to worry as we will include your electrical items in our usual annual check.

INSURANCE

Our insurance policy cover is for £500 per person and covers your personal effects. We do urge you not to bring in your mink coats, jewellery, emeralds and old master paintings. But if you do so, it would be advisable to take out additional insurance cover for your special items. If you need further clarification regarding our insurance policy, please feel welcome to ask.

FEES

There is a great deal of job satisfaction in caring for elderly people, and we wish that we did not have to raise the issue of fees. Regrettably, like all things, care has to be funded. Our fees are from £585.00 per week, payable monthly in advance. Some or all of these fees may be met by the local authority. If you are a privately funded resident, we arrange for your fees to be paid by standing order on a weekly or monthly basis.

Listed below is what your fees include, and what is not included.

Fees include all care and accommodation costs. Food, drink, heating and lighting, any laundry done on the premises, comprehensive programme of activities, and any other services the staff provide. Residents are expected to pay from their personal allowance or private income for personal items such as newspapers, tapes, books, magazines, toiletries etc, and for additional services provided at Seven Gables such as hairdressing and chiropody.

Service users are free to make their own arrangements for buying in such services. We do understand the concerns of our residents and we never make cuts in our standards of care and facilities. We strive to provide the very best value for money and our fees are compatible with maintaining a first class service. Fees are reviewed every year or more often, if it is necessary to make changes to the service plan.
