PRINCIPAL’S DESK

The real-life story of Colonel Harland Sanders who was

disappointed umpteen times in his life and still made his

dream come true late in his life is really inspiring.

He is a seventh grade dropped out who tried many

ventures in life but tasted bitter every time. He started

selling chicken at his age of 40 but his dream of a

restaurant was turned down many times due to conflicts

and wars.

Later he attempted to franchise his restaurant. His recipe

got rejected 1,009 times before the final approval. And

soon the secret recipe, “Kentucky Fried Chicken” became

a huge hi t worldwide. KFC was

expanded globally and the company

was sold for 2 million dollars and his face

is still celebrated in the logos.

Have you stopped your attempts to a

venture just because you were rejected or failed a few

times? Can you even accept a failure of 1009 times? This

story inspires everyone to try hard and believe in yourself

until you see success despite how many times you have

failed.

Dr. Ebenezer Jeyakumar ADirector - Academics, SNR Sons Trust

Once a professor entered the classroom with a glass jar,

rocks, pebbles, and sand. The students were amused to

see what he was up to. First, he started filling the rock

parts into the jar until he couldn’t add any more.

He asked the students if the jar was full and everybody

nodded yes. He then started putting the pebbles inside

the jar which went inside through the small gaps and he

shakes the jar to allow the pebbles to get into those vacant

spaces in between the rocks.

He asked the same question to the students and they

again said that the jar was full. Finally, he poured the sand

inside the jar which went through the

minute gaps and got filled in the jar.The professor explained that this is how

you should set priorities in life. Rock is

like your family, while pebbles are like

your career while sand is like the least

priorities in life and unnecessary quarrels and egos.

If you put sand on the jar first, it will get easily filled up

leaving no space for rocks and pebbles.You should

identify your priorities in life and develop a good strategy

to work towards fulfilling it rather than wasting your time

and effort on unnecessary aspects of life.

Women Empowerment Cell conducted a one and half a day Workshop on Silk Thread and Teracotta Jewellery Making on 10 and 11 Jan. 2019, which was inaugurated by Dr. Deena S, Chairperson, WEC. The workshop focused at providing a quality learning experience while giving the opportunity for the participants to bring their own ideas and excel in the art of Silk Thread and Terracotta Jewellery making. 50 girl students from I and II year participated and learnt from Ms. Aswathy and Ms. Saranya, The finished products were put on an exhibit and Dr Karunakaran K, Principal and Secretary. It was a great motivation for our participants to step as entrepreneurs

Women Empowerment Cell organised an awareness program on Kavalan Sos App on 04 Feb. 2019. The chief guest Dr BalajiSaravanan L addressed all the UG girl students on the importance of Kavalan Sos App and the usage of it. He insisted the girls and women to install the app on their mobiles and use it appropriately as and when needed. The girls were educated on the safety measures and precautions that should be taken while or before using the social media. The chief guest further gave some real life incidents to make the students to realise the importance of effects on being addicted to social media and other worse conditions

Women Empowerment Cell organised an awareness program on Road Safety on 02 Feb. 2019. Ms Punitha V, Safety Coordinator, Honda Two Wheelers was the

resource person. The resource person briefed about on Road Safety for the 1 year UG Students. Students were given a presentation on the traffic symbols. She also elaborated on the markings given on the road, red light hopping, speed limits that should be followed while riding. She further explained the importance of wearing seat belts while driving, helmets while on two wheeler, maintaining the lifetime of helmets. Students were also insisted to check the vehicles on daily basis before they start riding. The session was concluded by her with a presentation on Lane Discipline

Female safety Riding and Rangoli competitions were organised by Honda at Children’s Traffic Park, Coimbatore on 09 Feb. 2019 .60 of our girl students participated in the competition

On continuation of Anemia test WEC found the result that 50% of girl students were Anemic. Hence, iron tablets were distributed to all the girls students on 11 Feb. 2019

International Women’s Day was celebrated on 08 Mar. 2019. Dr. Deena S, President of Women Empowerment Cell welcomed the gathering. The Annual Report for the year 2018-2019 was presented by Dr. Kavitha G, Secretary, WEC. Dr. Karunakaran K, Principal & Secretary, presided over the function and spoke that self- empowerment is the key to success. The chief guest, Sub. Lt.
