Miss Alabama 2011– courtney Porter
Courtney is from Clay, Alabama and graduated from Clay-Chalkville High School in 2005 and graduated from Auburn with a degree in Communications in 2009.
Courtney represents Alabama traveling across the state promoting her platform of mentoring at risk students through the Boys and Girls Clubs of America. She will also represent Alabama in the January 14, 2012 Miss America Pageant.
Courtney has always enjoyed helping and mentoring children who may not have a positive support system in their home. She began volunteering while in high school, working with a program at Jefferson State Community College and continued her work as a student at Auburn volunteering with a student lead service organization called Impact. Wanting to work with a larger service organization she joined with the Boys and Girls Club.
She told us that many children in Alabama have less than perfect home environments - and in their world a little bit of encouragement really does go a long way.
Thank you Courtney – Good Work ! and Good Luck in January !
Miss Alabama, Courtney Porter, with Jane Hollis Poovey, Maddie Parker,
Meredith Nichols, Lucy Sedlak, Jamie Brown and Roger Ferrell.
