Flying Star: Natal EnergiesSecret # 8

"If a thing is worth doing at all, it's worth doing as well as you can do it.

Pick out something worthwhile and do it with passion. Do it with all your might."

Hugh Young

Special Tips: Deepen Love Increase WealthImprove Health Raise Your Spirit

How did you do last week? From my experience, in addition to FormFeng Shui, your Best Directions are the second most important aspectof the great traditions.

You should:

• Move an infant’s crib to face one of his good directions. He willsleep through the night even if he was not able to do so before.

• Sit in a good direction while eating. Stomach problems will begreatly reduced.

• Move your desk chair to a favorable direction. Organization andprogress will flow more easily with greater opportunity forprofessional advancement.

That is...

When you also face good Flying Star Directionsand sit in good Flying Star Locations.

Remember three of the most important universal Feng Shuiconcepts:

• Feng Shui is holistic and each aspect influences the other.

• If you learn a concept, it is consistent and can be applied to allFeng Shui aspects. For example, these concepts are also appliedto the Flying Stars:

• Dividing your home into 9-equal areas• Direction and Location• Macro and Micro• Five Elements

• Feng Shui will help you create the life that you want. You just need to do it.

I love this Secret’s quote because it reminds us that anything of valuerequires effort. When you go “the Flying Star distance,” you will be ableto apply the most valuable and influential of all Feng Shui aspects.

It is unfortunate that some who claim they are Feng Shui experts do nottake responsibility to learn the Flying Stars because of its complexity. One of the reasons that Feng Shui may not work is because the FlyingStars weren’t included in an analysis.

Even though I have distilled the Flying Stars down to its simplestessence, you still may find that your Feng Shui gets a bit morecomplicated. Stay with it, as this is the Feng Shui you need to know: theFeng Shui of the masters.

Take a deep breath, revitalize your passion, and do it with all your might. Reap its magnificent rewards.

And why should Flying Star complexity be a challenge?

It shouldn’t. You understand the Bagua and its nine sectors so applyingthe most profound and influential aspects of Feng Shui should be a snap.

What are the Flying Stars?

Feng Shui is based upon the natural laws and the cycles of MotherNature. As the days, weeks, and months flow into the seasons, the Earthis always changing as does your Feng Shui. Nothing is static: Everythingis evolving.

The ever-evolving time aspect in Feng Shui is called the Flying Stars.Traditionally known as San Yuan, this system provides a consistent, yetever-changing energetic influence. The Flying Star cycles are of thesame consistent natural science that we observe when the sun rises inthe east but, with the changing seasons, the compass degree where itrises appears differently on the horizon. Ever-changing, yet consistentlypredictable.

Natal Flying Stars can be described as the “astrology of your house.” Thesame way that the astrological alignment of the planets at the time youwere born influences the natal character of personality and destiny, theNatal position of “the house stars” affects your good or not-so-goodprosperity, success, relationships, and life condition.

Natal Flying Stars change every twenty years. The energies also cycleevery Year, Month, and Day (Secret #9) with a unique energeticinfluence. Similarly, as each year, month, and day provides you withdifferent experiences — some good, some not-so-good -- there areunique Flying Star energies, some good and some not-so-good, thatinfluences time.

The Flying Star system is very complicated and takes years to master. But to bottom-line its essence so that you can take advantage of its vitalinformation, I have calculated all the formulas and provided you with thecharts. The chart you select is based upon when you moved in (1984-2023) and the direction your house faces. Even though all theinformation has been simplified and condensed for your understanding, there is an important Master Discrepancy that you should know.

MASTER DISCREPANCY: Feng Shui was passed from teacher tostudent without being written down. As with many aspects of FengShui, there are inconsistencies in the teachings because of thedifferent lineages. In Flying Star Feng Shui, the masters do not agreeupon what determines a building’s birthday. Some say it is the yearthat the building was completed, and others say a structure’s birth isthe year that you move in.

Move-in date determines your home’s Flying Star influence.

Assumptions:

Assumption #1. One of the most important Feng Shuifundamentals is ACTIVITY in an environment. Ifno one occupies a space, no one will experienceits Feng Shui influence. If a house was built 50years ago and you move in tomorrow, you bringyour energy into the space.

It is your energy that activates a space andmakes a house a home. This assumption rings truefor me through my experience. How about you?Doesn’t the house feel differently than it did when youexperienced it with the previous owner’s furnishings orif it were empty? Do you feel the energetic change ofnew beginnings when you move to another space?

Assumption #2. This text is based upon the cycle of time that weare experiencing right now. Period 8 defines a20-year cycle of time (2004-2023). Becausemost of us moved into our homes in Period 7(1984-2003) or will move in during Period 8, thecharts for both Period 7 and Period 8 areincluded. Also included are the energeticdefinitions of Period 8, because it is the timethat we are living in now. Period 7 definitionsare not included because they are no longerrelevant.

If you moved into your home before 1984, I welcomeyou to contact me here for charts for any previousyear. I will be happy to calculate them for you at mystandard minute rate (If you don’t have manyquestions, it should only take 15 minutes). To saveyou money, please include the direction your house isfacing and the year that you moved in when youcontact me.

Cycles in Time

Using the move-in date assumption, most of us moved into our homebetween 1984-2003, which is known in Flying Star as “Period 7” or willmove into our homes in Period 8 (2004-2023). These periods, like allothers, have specific energetic patterns and influences that aresystematically determined by Flying Star formulas.

Using the Flying Star Charts for Period 7 and Period 8

Simplified Flying Star basics:

• There are sixteen directional charts for each Period. Sixteen for:

• Period 7 (move in 1984-2003)• Period 8 (move in 2004-2023)

• For each Period there are two charts for each of the eight Baguadirections:

• North has two charts: N1 & N2/3 (referring to the North1 and the North 2/3 chart)

• South has two charts S1 & S 2/3• East has two charts E1 & E 2/3• West has two charts W1 & W2/3• Northwest has two charts NW1 & NW2/3• Northeast has two charts NE1 & NE2/3• Southeast has two charts SE1 & SE2/3• Southwest has two charts SW1 & SW2/3

8.6 Flying Star: Natal Energies

©2014/2005 Jami Lin all rights reserved

JamiLin.com • Feng-Shui-Interior-Design • ColorAlchemy • Age-Defying Skin Care

• Each chart has a different set of energies determined by thePeriod and the direction a house is facing.

• Each one of the sixteen charts is segmented into eight Bagua ordirectional sectors with one in the center (sound familiar?). Eachof the nine sectors has a unique Natal Flying Star energy.

The same way the 9-directional sectors define specific directionalenergies according to its facing direction, the enclosed Period 7and Period 8 charts also define the energies for every directionalsector in your home.

Which chart do I use?

There are two considerations:• What is your Move-in year? if you moved in your homebetween:

• 1984-2003, use a Period 7 chart• 2004-2023, use a Period 8 chart

• What direction your House is facing?

Direction your House is facing

By now you should be a pro at determining facing direction. Becausethere are two Flying Star charts for each of eight directions (for example, the two north charts are called N1 and N2/3, the two southeast chartsare called SE 1 and SE2/3, and so on), you need to be a little morecareful when determining facing direction. I recommend that you takea compass reading for chart accuracy.

Taking a compass reading and determining facing direction is just aseasy as it was before. While standing outside, with your back to themain door, instead of just reading the direction, determine (as carefullyas you can) the number of the compass degree.

With the exact degree that your house is facing, match up theDirectional-Degree number with the Degree Chart below todetermine exactly which directional chart to use. It is that simple.

Got Your Chart? What do you do now?

You will notice that each of the 9-directional sectors of your chart has anumber combination. This series of two numbers have a Flying Starenergetic meaning.

As mentioned in Secret #7, I do not want you to get confused betweenFlying Star, Kua, and Best Direction “Best-to-Worst” Quantifyingnumbers.

Feng Shui Numbers Reminder

To help distinguish the meanings of the numbers in the Secrets):

Flying Star numbers: Are number identifiers that are derivedfrom the direction your house is facingand when you moved in. They are yourNatal house energies that come fromheaven (like Natal astrology).

Example: Each Flying Star number has a very specific meaningdepending on whether it “flies” into a quiet or active room. 1means either Grow Knowledge and Spiritual Self-Cultivation (quietroom) or Intelligence, Academic Scholarly, ProfessionalAchievement (active room). Details to follow.

Kua Numbers: Your personal Natal Number is based upon the yearthat you were born (Secret #7). Your Kua numberidentifies your Natal Energies such as your personalelement and “body-part sensitivities.” (Secret # 9)Your Kua number identifies which Best Directionchart to use.

Example: If you are a Kua #1, you select the BestDirection chart with the 1 in the center (Secret#7). You already know that your Natal Element isWater. Depending on your Kua Number, your body hasinherent physical sensitivities that I will share moreabout in Secret #9.

Best Directions: In each of the eight Best Direction charts and ineach of the directional sectors (N, S, E, W, SE,NW, SE, NE), there is a number that indicatesthe quality of each energy from best to worst.(Secret #7)

Example: 1 indicates your best Natal directionto face and to sleep, 2 indicates your secondbest, 3 your third best, and on so on.

The Meanings of the Flying Star Combinations

With all aspects of Feng Shui, you already know that the most significantareas that influence your life are the entry, your bedroom, the kitchen(specifically the stove area), home office (if you work from home), andany other room where you spend considerable time. The followingcharts, with their nine-proportioned sectors, determine the Natal FlyingStar Energy of each room.

Number Combinations: On the Flying Star Charts, each sector has acombination of numbers that identifies a specific energetic pattern. Aspreviously explained, these combinations are not arbitrary. They arespecific to ancient, classic Feng Shui formulas.

Number Combinations

Both numbers in combination influence your life, specifically inrelation to the function of each sector. When a number combinationis in a:

• Bedroom: the energies influence intimate relationship andhealth.

• Office: the energies influence business and money.

• Kitchen: the energies influence health, nurturing, andharmony.

• Entry: the energies influence everything (Remember, how youcarry the energy in with you and “musk” your entire home with it).

The position of the number has a very important

influence. The energy-number on the:

• LEFT takes precedence if it is present in a QUIET room(bedroom or meditation room).

The Yin attributes of the number influenceRelationships, Family Harmony, Health and InternalExpressions.

• RIGHT takes precedence if it is present in an ACTIVE room (entry, living/family room, kitchen, office).

The Yang attributes of the number influence Outward Success, Finances and External Expressions.

Tomake sure that all your Bagua charts (including Best Direction,Flying Starts & Life-Desire) are easy to read, make sure that youalign the compass points according to the direction your house isfacing.

If you do not have an Personal Success Map, just spin your chartaround to be oriented in same compass orientation as your home. Isuggest that you orient your chart with the “facing direction” toward thebottom.

Enhancing & Reducing Flying Star Energies

Remember in Secret #5, I suggested that you learn the elements, forward and backward. Now is the time you will be tested.

As you may have noticed on the Energetic Definitions of Period 8chart, each element is represented by a number. Based upon the timePeriod, these numbers have good or bad influences.

In this chart, notice each number with its corresponding element.

The darker shadow indicates very bad energies.

The lighter shadow indicates “be careful” energies(especially combined with bad Yearly & Monthly energies-Secret #9).

Combining Flying Stars with your Personal Directions

Best of the Best Objective

If a home’s Flying Star energies are the sameas your Best directions–Excellent!

Have your most significant rooms locatedin good Flying Star and Best Direction Locations.

Have your most significant furniture facinggood Flying Star and Best Directions.

Need a refresher on the differences between Direction and Location?Review the details in Secret #7.

Best of the Best Example using the SE 2/3 Period 8 chart on page8.15

Let’s say that you need a home office and, of course, a bedroom.(Assume this floor plan has four bedrooms in the W, NW, N and SWlocations.)

First Prioritize Location:

W & N have bad Quiet (Yin) and Active (Yang) energiesNW & SW have good Quiet (Yin) and Active (Yang) energies

You could use the SW or NW for either a bedroom or home officebecause they both have good Quiet (Yin) and Active (Yang)energies.

If I was making a decision on which room to use for which task, Iwould consider:

• Architecture (which room is bigger, closer to biggest bathroom and closet, best view, etc.)

• Quality of the Best Directions• Which way Furniture will face best Flying Star and BestDirections.

Note: When I say bad or good, remember, the energies arespecific to the energetic descriptions in the Energetic Definitionsof Period 8 chart.

Second Priority: Detail Furniture Position

Bedroom: In the NW room, position your bed so that your head pointstoward directions with good Quiet/Yin Flying Stars: NW, SW,SE, or NE. Make a choice and compromise between thelayout of the room and a Best Direction (it is best to sleepfacing SE if you are an East Group person and NW, SW, orNE if you are from the West Group).

In the SW room, position your bed so that your head pointstoward directions with good Quiet/Yin Flying Stars: NW, SW,SE or NE. Make a choice and compromise between thearchitecture of the room and a Best Direction (it is best tosleep facing SE if you are an East Group person and NW,SW, or NE if you are from the West Group).

Office: In the NW office, position your desk so that your chest facesgood Active/Yang Flying Stars as you sit: NW, E, SE, S, orSW. Consider the architectural layout of the room and a BestDirection (if you are an East Group person, it is best to sitwith your chest facing S, E or SE and if you are from theWest Group, it is best to sit facing NW).

In the SW office, position your desk so that your chest facesgood Active/Yang Flying Stars as you sit: NW, E, SE, S, orSW. Since no house is perfect, what happens if you have to use a room withnot such good Flying Star Location energy?

Remember, Feng Shui rules are consistent. Direction is moreimportant than Location. In other words, receiving energy from goodDirections (Flying Star and Best Directions) through your chest or thetop of your head is more valuable than sitting or sleeping in theLocation. Therefore, if you have to occupy a room with less-favorableFlying Stars and/or a Best Direction location, make sure you sit and/orsleep in good Directions, as in the “Second Priority example.”

To Deepen Love, Increase Wealth, Improve Health, and to RaiseYour Spirit, make sure that you are facing good Flying Star andBest Directions as well as being Located in good Flying Star andBest Direction Locations.

Masterful & Advanced Feng ShuiConsiderations and Decorative Suggestions

Decorative Suggestions to Activate good Natal Energies andReduce the unfavorable ones.

Because Natal Energies will always be the same for as long asyou occupy the property, I recommend that you design the “Big Stuff”first. When the “unchanging design” is completed, it will be easy tomove a few items to enhance and support the ever-changing Yearly andMonthly Energies.
