As of March 13th, at 5:30 p.m. EST Items in this announcement:

1. General BRH Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ’s) 2. Specific Community Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ’s) 3. BRH Precautions Update

General BRH (FAQ’s): NEWLY ADDED or UPDATED: Will staff and residents be required to wear masks? Over the last several days, new information indicates that wearing masks will offer additional protection to the wearer of the mask as well as those surrounding them. Cloth masks are our best option from an infection control standpoint and have the advantage of being laundered and reused. We began requiring all team members to wear masks on Thursday, April 9 when the team member is in a common space or a resident’s home or apartment. We are not requiring residents to wear masks at this time. If you leave the campus, we suggest that you wear a mask and you will need to self-quarantine for 14 days after your return. Are you utilizing technology to keep families connected? Families wishing to experience a “virtual visit” via FaceTime or Zoom should contact the home to schedule the date and time. PREVIOUSLY ADDED: If I leave the campus for any reason (required health care treatments, visit family, groceries, etc.) what are my responsibilities to the campus when I return? The state of North Carolina has issued a “stay at home order”. Off campus visits unless it is a required medical treatment should now end. We urge all residents to remain on campus. The risk of the exposure to the virus is too great. Can I meet a visitor off campus? The state of North Carolina has issued a “stay at home order”. Off campus visits should now end. We urge all residents to remain on campus. The risk of the exposure to the virus is too great. Are we continuing to bring potential new residents on campus for marketing appointments and tours? For the immediate future we have cancelled all marketing events, appointments and tours. We have temporarily changed our marketing practices to do as much as possible

remotely. Garden Homes at Brookridge, which are individual homes, are the only homes where tours are currently being provided. General tours of campus will not be given. Do we have anyone that has tested positive for the virus? At this point, none of our campuses has had a team member or a resident that has tested positive for the virus. As you know, the virus is expected to continue to spread so our efforts are currently focused on preventing but also being prepared if and when we have a confirmed case. What are we doing to screen essential personnel that arrive on our campus? BRH Team Members, Essential Health Care Workers and those workers responding to Emergencies are the only individuals allowed on the campus. They are screened when they arrive on campus using the protocols provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). What does self-quarantine mean for a resident? Self-Quarantine means to stay in your apartment and/or home. Are deliveries from grocery stores, pharmacies, online purchases, USPS, FedEx, UPS, laundry, etc., still allowed? Yes, deliveries are allowed. If you live at Brookridge in a Garden Home it will be delivered to your home, all other deliveries at all other communities will be delivered to the loading dock and then brought to your residence by a BRH team member. The activity director at your community can assist with ordering groceries by phone with your credit or debit card. No cash transactions please. Can I order food delivery from a local restaurant? Yes, food deliveries will be made to the Brookridge Garden Homes. All other food deliveries at all other communities will be delivered to main entrance and brought to your residence by a BRH team member. No cash transactions please. Can I have a visitor on campus if they stay away from any common areas? No, all visitors are currently prohibited from entering the campus and buildings. Exceptions are being made for end of life situations. Can I leave the building to enjoy some outside air and beautiful weather? Yes, we encourage you to enjoy the fresh air. We would like you to remain on the campus and practice social distancing. The CDC currently recommends maintaining at least a 6-foot distance between individuals. Can I visit residents in Health Care, Memory Support or Assisted Living? No, the residents in Assisted Living, Memory Support and the Health Care areas are extremely vulnerable to the Coronavirus with a high mortality rate. New guidance from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) issued a new update restricting any visitor in these areas.

What will happen if an employee tests positive? Team members will be sent home immediately and will not be allowed back on the campus for a minimum of 14 days (as per guidance from the CDC) or until their symptoms are resolved – whichever is longer. What will happen if a resident were to test positive? We are a healthcare entity so we will stay open. We will follow protocols set forth by CDC and CMS, whether that be a localized quarantine or a full campus quarantine. Will worship services still take place? We have temporarily cancelled all on-campus worship services. As always, feel free to reach out to our chaplain with any personal concerns. Why are there still activities being provided when you said they were all cancelled? All large group and campus led activities are cancelled. There are still small resident group activities occurring however, please be cognizant of the risks involved in social interactions and exposure to the virus. What is happening with transportation? We will only be providing transportation for medically necessary and urgent medical appointments. Is housekeeping still operating? Yes, Housekeeping is operating under normal hours at this time. If you would like to forego your cleaning, please contact the housekeeping department. What is the organization doing for team members? BRH has an excellent reputation because of the efforts of all our team members and they are paramount to our success and your experience at our community. We are working on options to provide childcare for team members and are in discussions with other communities in our industry on how they are addressing this need. We have also notified our team members that we are picking up any co-pays and deductibles if they do obtain the virus. The Government is currently also addressing the impact on healthcare workers and we are closely monitoring their decisions. How will families continue to be updated? We will continue to publish updates, but the most current information will always be on our website at www.BRH.org. We also monitor daily the BRH Hotline 336-407-1594 and email inbox [email protected] that we set up. Are the hair and nail salons still open? By executive order of the Governor, we have closed our community’s hair and nail salons until further notice.

From BRH Corporate Offices: The safety of your loved ones is of critical concern to all of us at Baptist Retirement Homes of NC (“BRH”). This update is to provide you with a few of the procedural changes BRH is making to focus on our clearest priority – keeping our residents and team members safe. As of this update, we have no diagnosed cases of the Coronavirus (“COVID-19”) at any of our communities. We will remain vigilant in our efforts to protect our residents and team members during the Coronavirus pandemic. We continue to implement procedural changes at our communities in step with guidance received by the Centers for Medicare Services (CMS), Center for Disease Control (CDC), and the North Carolina Department of Health. As such, the following changes have been implemented:

• Communal dining at Brookridge, Taylor Glen and Western NC, and across all levels of living has been suspended. Meal delivery will be provided at no charge, and meal pick-up service is available for residential living residents. Taylor House is still allowing communal dining at the moment.

• All residents and team members are asked to practice social distancing in their daily interactions with each other.

• Large group activities are canceled for team members and residents. • Certain community activities in Residential Living, such as salons, swimming

pools, and fitness centers, remain open while practicing social distancing. However, applicable federal, state and local mandates may require additional restrictions for some communities.

• BRH communities are closed to visitors with limited exceptions. Please see applicable exceptions for each level of care below in the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ’s)

• Approved visitors will be screened and must undergo temperature checks. If you are attempting to speak with a family member at one of our communities and are unable to reach them, please call your community directly. This is a fast-changing situation. Baptist Homes’ leadership is in regular communication with local and state public health officials and is monitoring guidance provided by the CDC and CMS. We will update our communications with changes in community operations or as new information is available. Thank you for your support while we endeavor to protect the safety of all of our residents and team members.
