Where did football originate from?

• Football originates from China, it was the first sign of what our game is today, and even more it was created around 200-300 BC and it was known as (Medieval Football) in China long ago. But when the football association started it was actually in England when the game really began to take shape around the world. It all started in 1863 in England, when two football unions went on their different ways. That is why, the first Football Association was founded in England. The picture above shows

Medieval Football that the Chinese created.

Who made up the first organized set of rules for Football? Why did they do this?

• In 1848, as the game started growing more and more popular in the public school system, Henry de Winton and John Charles Thring had a meeting at Trinity College in Cambridge, with lots of representatives from other colleges being invited.

• They planed a set of football rules known as the "Cambridge Rules" and the fact that they haven't been found yet, it's believed that they played a major role in England's football history, as they are the base on which the Laws of the Game would later be created, like it is today. This picture shows the

Why do you think Football has become so popular around the world? (Describe 3 reasons and explain in detail why you think they were important).

• Football is one of the greatest sport in the world because of the money and the media that involve in this sport. I think football is so popular because it is simple, yet there are so many different strategies, moves and competitions that it never gets boring.

• In football, the player can use his abilities, much more than other sports.

• The rules are simple and very little gear is recommended so all people, rich or poor can play. The second thing is, football is a very good way to have friends. It's a team game where everybody is equal and all the players rely on one another.

Do you think there are different ways of playing, or styles, of Football in different areas around the world? Explain your answer using Football terms.

Yes, I do think that there are different ways of playing Football in different areas around the world for example Australia’s rules are like during the match, players may position themselves anywhere on the field and use any part of their body to move the ball. The methods are kicking, handballing and running with the ball. There are rules on how the ball can be handled: for example, players running with the ball must bounce or touch it on the ground. Throwing the ball is not allowed and players must not get caught holding the ball. These are some rules for Australian football during the match.

Continuing Question

In England there are different rules like the ball could be caught, if kicked below the hand or knee. If the ball was caught near the opposite goal, the catcher had the opportunity of scoring, by carrying it through the goal in three standing jumps. All players were allowed to catch the ball direct from the foot. But, they were forbidden to catch the ball and run with it. Only the goalkeeper was allowed to hold the ball. He could also hit it from anywhere in his own half. Goal kicks and throw-ins took place when the ball went out of play.
