Top Story - The Robert Morris University football team continues Northeast Conference play this Saturday, Oct. 10, as it returns home for the first time in three weeks to face defending co- champion Sacred Heart at Noon at Joe Walton Stadium. RMU is coming off a last-second victory in its league opener at Wagner as the Colonials claimed a battle of field goals. Sacred Heart will be opening the defense of its NEC crown this Saturday as it had a bye last weekend. RMU line- backer Mike Stojkovic and placekicker Connor Shennan collected defensive and special teams honors, respectively, in the league’s weekly release Monday, giving the Colonials a NEC-best seven awards this season. Tyler Brown became just the second true freshman quarterback at RMU, and the first since 1994, to lead a Colonial team on a game-winning drive in the fourth quarter in last week’s win. Brown came on in relief when classmate Reid McCoy was forced from the game due to injury. RMU will enjoy its lone bye of the season next weekend before remaining at home Saturday, Oct. 24, for the annual clash with county rival Duquesne. Quick Stat of the Afternoon - Saturday’s contest is part of the conference’s broadcast package and will be featured on ESPN3. That fact should bode well for the Colonials based on recent his- tory. Robert Morris is 7-3 (.700) in its last 10 games that have been broadcast by the NEC, includ- ing 5-1 (.833) at home. The Colonials have averaged 21.40 points per game in these 10 affairs while allowing 15.60 points per game over this span, including yielding only 12.33 at home. Since the 2005 season, Robert Morris is 9-6 (.600) when featured on a NEC broadcast, including 6-3 (.667) at Joe Walton Stadium. Robert Morris has faced eight different opponents in this time. In fact, Sacred Heart is the only current NEC member that RMU has not faced in a game broadcast by the league. Duquesne is the most frequent opponent that Robert Morris has matched up with on league broadcasts, with five games between the teams put on air since 2006. Saturday's Opponent - Robert Morris has faced Sacred Heart in each of the past 17 seasons, and the series is quite even with the Pioneers holding a slim 9-8 edge. In each of the past two match- ups, Sacred Heart has jumped out to a first-quarter lead and never trailed en route to a victory. In the last two Colonial victories in the series (2010, 2012), RMU scored in the final minute to turn a deficit into a lead. In the last three meetings, RMU has scored 41 of its 59 points against the Pioneers in the fourth quarter. For more information on the all-time series against Sacred Heart, including the last game recap, please see page four of today’s game notes. On This Date (Oct. 10) in Robert Morris Football History - Robert Morris has played twice before on October 10 and came up short on both occasions. The first time the Colonials competed on this date came in 1998 at home as RMU met Valparaiso for the first time in program history. After a scoreless first quarter, the Crusaders used two touchdown passes, sandwiched around the first rushing touchdown of Tim Levcik’s (1998-2001) career to take a 13-7 lead into the break. A touchdown pass by Levcik and a Jeff Carlo (1998-2001) field goal in the third quarter put the Colonials on top after three. Valparaiso would have the last laugh as a 14-play touch- down drive in the fourth quarter gave the Crusaders a 19-17 victory. Robert Morris outgained Valparaiso but was done in by three turnovers. Archie Wannamaker (1996-98) had a game-high 122 rushing yards on just 18 carries, averaging nearly 7.0 yards per rush. Murray Poole (1996-98, 2000) led all players with 12 tackles while Matt Grayson (1998-2001) forced two fumbles. 2015 Robert Morris Football Game Notes vs. Sacred Heart (10/10/15) - Page 3

Head Coach John BanaszakSecond Season - Eastern Michigan ’75

John Banaszak became the second head football coach in Robert Morris University history in December 2013. He served as an assistant coach and assistant head coach for the Colonials for 11 consecutive years prior to taking over the top spot. Banaszak was selected as Coach-In-Waiting in January 2012, allowing for a simple transition following the 2013 campaign. At the end of the 2013 season, he was named as the Assistant Coach of the Year at the FCS level as selected by the American Football Coaches Association. He was one of five coaches selected for dedication to their teams and communities. He was the first RMU coach, as well as the first from the NEC, to claim this honor. The 2013 season was Banaszak's sixth and final as assistant head coach for Robert Morris. Among his

numerous duties with the program before becoming head coach, he was responsi-ble for tutoring the defensive line and the special teams unit. Under Banaszak's guidance in 2013, Robert Morris led the NEC in net punting, punt return defense and punt return average. Banaszak was also a key component in instructing a RMU defense that finished second in the NEC in total defense within league play in 2013. Robert Morris finished its regular season ranked among the top 25 nationally in at least seven defensive categories including total defense. With Banaszak's assistance, RMU has led the NEC in total defense four times in the past 11 years and ranked among the top four nine times in the past 12 seasons. Banaszak was a key component to a 2010 defense that led the NEC in total defense as the Colonials claimed the NEC's inaugural berth in the FCS Playoffs. In 2006, he helped tutor an RMU defense that led I-AA in total defense, allowing an average of just 228.36 yards per game. 10 of the 13 players in school history to earn All-NEC recognition on the defensive line have come under the tutelage of Banaszak, including Nolan Nearhoof (2009-12), who was named the 2012 NEC Defensive Player of the Year after breaking both the school and league records for career sacks. Nearhoof would go on to earn All-America honors, becoming the third Colonial defensive lineman to claim an All-America nod under Banaszak in a seven-year span. As much as Banaszak's presence has been felt on the defensive side of the ball, the same can be said on special teams. He helped five distinct Colonials win an award at return specialist within the span of one decade. A graduate of Eastern Michigan, Banaszak signed as a free agent with the Pittsburgh Steelers prior to the 1975 season and was one of only three rookies to make the defending Super Bowl champion team out of training camp. Primarily a special teams player on Pittsburgh's Super Bowl X championship team, Banaszak started five games the following season and then started at both right end and inside tackle in 1977 before suffering a knee injury that forced him to the injured reserve list. Between 1978 and 1980, Banaszak started 45 regular-season games at defensive end as the Steelers won back-to-back Super Bowls. In Super Bowl XIII, Banaszak recorded six tackles, including a pair of sacks, and a fumble recovery in a 35-31 win over the Dallas Cowboys, which garnered him Defensive Player of the Game honors. The following year, Banaszak helped the Steelers to a 31-19 victory over the Rams.

Game #6Sacred Heart 52, Robert Morris 13October 11, 2014 / Fairfield, Conn.

Campus Field (Attendance: 654) - Robert Morris was unable to overcome a poor first quarter and dropped its Northeast Conference opener to Sacred Heart, 52-13, on an overcast and wet after-noon. Sacred Heart, fresh off a win over nationally ranked Delaware, proved why it was chosen as the league’s preseason favorite as each team opened its NEC slate. Junior Derik Abbott completed 14-of-24 passes for a career-high 230 yards and two touch-downs for RMU, tossing multiple scores for the second straight week. Abbott’s touchdown passes were hauled in by junior Justin Kempka and sophomore Nic Lamica with both Colonials finding the end zone for the first time in their respective careers. Lamica, who posted a career-best 93 receiving yards, led a receiving corps that saw junior Luke Centofanti contribute a career-high 53 yards while senior Duane Mitchell, who caught a pass for the 28th consecutive game, totaled 50 receiving yards. True freshman Rameses Owens led the ground attack for RMU with 70 rushing yards while sophomore Andy Smigiera topped the RMU defense with a career-high tying nine tackles. Sacred Heart scored on each of its first-quarter possessions, aided by a blocked punt and a double reverse rush for a touchdown. The Pioneers held the Colonials to punts on their first three drives of the game to jump out to an early lead that they would never relinquish. RMU’s first scoring drive culminated on a third-and-goal play where Sacred Heart came ready for the run, but Abbott lofted a pass to a wide open Kempka. Later in the second quarter, RMU drove inside Sacred Heart’s 25-yard line, but an untimely fumble stopped the momentum. Sacred Heart scored on its first drive of the second half to dim any hopes of a Colonial come-back. Robert Morris got within a yard of a touchdown on its first possession of the fourth quarter but could not punch it in. Later in the period, Lamica hauled in Abbott’s second touchdown pass of the day as he beat his man down the left sideline and made the grab in the end zone. Senior Tony LaMancusa, a four-year starter at punter, broke the Robert Morris career record for punt attempts during the game and now has 231 in his career. Senior defensive back Antwan Eddie moved into RMU’s career top 10 in passes defended Saturday.

Robert Morris Quick FactsLast Time Out - Connor Shennan connected on a 19-yard field goal with 24 seconds left to lift Robert Morris to a come-from-behind, 9-6, win over Wagner in each team's Northeast Conference opener … Linebackers Kimani Smith and Jake Tkach both con-tributed 10 tackles with the former notching a career high in that category … Sophomore Cole Blake registered a career-long 52-yard rush … Sophomore linebacker Joseph Uhatafe recovered the first fumble of his career … Redshirt senior Forrest Mason tallied 2.0 sacks while redshirt junior Austin Trgovcich posted a career-best 2.5 tackles for loss … Robert Morris had advantages in both rushing and passing yards.

Stock Watch - Mike Stojkovic was named Northeast Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the second time in 2015 Monday. He led RMU with 11 stops in its win at Wagner last week. He earned his first honor after helping limit nationally ranked Youngstown State Sept. 12 as he posted 11 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss and a forced fumble against the Penguins. He has hit double digits in stops in four of five games this season and totaled 4.5 tackles for loss. Stojkovic currently leads the league in tackles per game (9.6).

The Third Phase - Connor Shennan has earned Northeast Conference Special Teams Player of the Week accolades in two straight weeks. The junior was a perfect 3-for-3 on field goals last week at Wagner, including connecting on the game-winner in the final minute. He is the only NEC athlete to hit three field goals in a game in 2015 and became the fifth Colonial ever to achieve that feat. Shennan had reset his career-long with a 46-yarder the week prior while drilling two of his three kickoffs for touchbacks.

Turning It Around - A main point of emphasis for Robert Morris in 2015 was to improve its turnover differential after last year’s poor display in that category. Five weeks into 2015, RMU stands at +4 in turnovers. The Colonials have turned the ball over seven times, but they have forced 11 turnovers—six INT, five fumbles—to make up for that.

Rookie Records - Redshirt freshman Kyle Buss caught nine passes for 108 yards and a touchdown in just his third collegiate game Sept. 19. Buss, who also added 24 rushing yards, broke the RMU freshman single-game record for receptions as his nine catches are tied for the third most by a Colonial in a contest. Buss caught a 26-yard touchdown pass early in the second quarter to find the end zone for the first time as a collegian.

Meet Mr. Smith - Kimani Smith became the third distinct Colonial in four weeks to earn Defensive Player of the Week honors from the NEC Sept. 28. He posted eight tackles, six of which were solo, along with a tackle for loss, an interception and two pass breakups against No. 6 South Dakota State. He also helped hold SDSU to a lower point total than its produced against FBS member Kansas. Smith is second on RMU in tackles (36) and tackles for loss (5.0) and ranks among the top 10 in the NEC in both categories.

Just For Kicks - RMU has done well at covering its kickoffs thus far in 2015. Junior Connor Shennan has tallied 11 touchbacks on 21 attempts, the highest percentage in the NEC. However, even when his kicks have not resulted in touchbacks, RMU is holding its opponents to just 14.3 yards per return, one of the top five marks in the FCS.

Homegrown - One week after Rameses Owens ran for 152 yards, Cole Blake showcased RMU’s depth at running back in the last home game. The hometown product rushed 25 times for a career-best 136 yards, averaging 5.4 yards per carry. Blake actually saw minimal action in the first half and registered 132 of his 136 yards in the second half.

Break It Up - The median completion percentage across the FCS in 2014 was 57.6%. Robert Morris has allowed only three of its past 23 opponents to reach that mark. In fact, eight times in this stretch, the Colonials have held their opponent under a 45% rate. In each of the past two seasons, RMU had a stretch where it held its opponent under a 50% completion mark in three straight games.

Start Me Up - Nick Faraci enters Saturday's game with the most consecutive starting assignments of all active Colonials as he has served as the center for 38 straight games. On defense, Marcelis Branch has the most total starts among active Colonials with 25, but Andy Smigiera and Mike Stojkovic are tied for the longest active streak (16).

Game #5 • Robert Morris 9, Wagner 6October 3, 2015 • Staten Island, N.Y.

Wagner College Stadium (Attendance: 1,311) - Connor Shennan con-nected on a 19-yard field goal with 24 seconds remaining to lift Robert Morris to a comeback, 9-6, victory over Wagner in each team's NEC opener on a blustery day. A Colonial three-and-out and a wind-blown punt gave the Seahawks the ball at the 50-yard line on their first drive. RMU was able to force a field goal attempt from 44 yards that was missed. Robert Morris punted on its next two drives while Wagner used good field position to launch a pair of drives that ended in field goals. Each team then punted on its first full drive of the second quarter. RMU got on the board in the middle of the second quarter, a scor-ing drive that began with a bang as Cole Blake rushed for 52 yards. That long rush helped set up a Shennan 30-yard field goal. Wagner looked poised to take a bigger lead very late in the half as it drove into the red zone, but a fumble was pounced on by Joseph Uhatafe. The turnover essentially brought the first half to a close. RMU forced a punt to open the second half without allowing a first down. Tyler Brown, who came on in relief of RMU's starter who left the game due to injury, threw a 20-yard completion on RMU's first play of the second half to move the ball into Wagner territory. Shennan would hit from 36 yards out to cap the drive and tie the game. A sack by Jimmy Masson and a pass breakup by Drew Allen helped force a Wagner punt on its next drive. RMU again moved into Wagner territory, this time on a 30-yard pass from Brown to Kyle Buss, but it would be forced to punt. Robert Morris then forced a three-and-out before it committed its lone turnover of the day on an interception. After the takeaway, the Seahawks had momentum and a drive start in RMU territory, but the Colonials rallied to force a three-and-out as Forrest Mason tallied a sack on third down. Each of the game's next six drives ended in punts with one com-bined first down between teams. Robert Morris took over on its own 33-yard line with 4:24 left and the game tied. Brown hit Buss for a 13-yard completion on the first play before the rookie QB took things into his own hands. On the next seven plays, Brown rushed for first downs four times, contributing 37 yards overall, as he helped move the ball into the red zone. On second-and-goal, Blake nearly found the end zone but came up inches short. It proved to be no matter as Shennan hit from 19 yards out. Wagner had one final chance, but Ryan Lewis notched a solo sack on the second play of the Seahawks' drive to run the clock out.

Last RMU GameBehind Enemy Lines - Robert Morris got after the quarterback with ferocity in last week’s win. RMU tallied 8.0 sacks, the most by a Colonial team in nine years and a single-game school record against a Division I foe. Eight Colonials helped contribute to that mark, four defensive linemen, three linebackers and one safety. Entering the game, Wagner had allowed only five sacks in its first three games, one of which came against a FBS program. In fact, RMU’s sack total was as many as Wagner had allowed in its last six games combined.

Protect This Backfield - The RMU offensive line did not allow a single sack Sept. 26 at No. 6 South Dakota State. It marked the first non-conference game in which RMU did not allow a sack since its 2006 season opener and was the first time ever RMU did not yield a sack when facing a ranked team.

Halfway There - In four of the first five games, the Robert Morris defense has held its opponent scoreless in either the first or second half. RMU achieved the feat against Dayton (first half), Youngstown State (first half), Notre Dame (Ohio) (second half) and Wagner (second half).

Long Rush Trio - In its past two games, the Robert Morris offense has pro-duced three rushes of at least 50 yards. That equals the number of 50+ yard rushes that RMU combined for in the five seasons from 2010-14. The three runs in the past two weeks came from the feet of three Colonials with Mathew Barr, Cole Blake and Dante Satcher each contributing one. In fact, this is only the second season ever, and the first since 1996, in which three distinct Colonials each posted a rush of 50+ yards.

Limiting Factor - The Robert Morris defense is a main reason why the Colonials won their league opener at Wagner last week. The Colonials limited the Seahawks to 170 yards of total offense, more than 100 fewer than their previous season low that came against a FBS program. Robert Morris, which did not allow a scoring drive longer than 35 yards, held Wagner to a 1-for-14 figure on third down. It marked the first time RMU held an opponent to a single-digit point total on the road since September 2010, also at Wagner.

Knock It Down - Through five games of the 2015 season, the RMU defense has tallied 22 pass breakups, notching at least four in each game. This current pace will put the Colonials within reach of the the single-season school record of 49 pass breakups. Nine different Colonials have contributed to this mark with junior weak safety Andy Smigiera leading the way with five.

Initial Impressions - A number of RMU players have accrued a ‘first’ in 2015. Eight Colonials have made their first collegiate start through five games. Six of those eight are part of a group of 17 Colonials that have made their colle-giate deubt in 2015. A total of 27 Colonials made their first career start a year ago while 35 Colonials made their collegiate debut in 2014.

D-Fence - One week after Youngstown State scored 37 points and accumu-lated over 400 yards of total offense against Atlantic Coast Conference mem-ber Pittsburgh, the Robert Morris defense held the Penguins to 14 points and 304 total yards in regulation. RMU held the Penguins to an 11-for-27 passing mark, which is the lowest completion percentage by a Penguin team in their past 20 games. YSU’s total yards mark is its third smallest in its past 15 games. RMU also held YSU to a 5-for-17 figure on third down.

No Passing Zone - The Robert Morris defense did well in keeping opposing offenses from moving the ball through the air near the end zone last year. The Colonials grabbed eight interceptions in 2014 within 20 yards of the end zone they were defending. RMU has tallied four such picks in the first five games of 2015, giving it 12 grabs inside its own 20 in its past 16 games. Seven distinct Colonials have contributed to that mark.

STATS FCS Top 25

NEC Champions since 1996

For Starters - When Robert Morris took the field in its 2014 season finale at Duquesne, it sported its 11th distinct offensive starting lineup in the 11th and final game. RMU, which has sported different lineups on offense in its past 19 games overall, saw 23 distinct players start on offense in 2014 alone. Through five games in 2015, 17 Colonials have started on offense.

Making the Grade - Current redshirt senior offensive lineman Nick Faraci and recently graduated wide receiver Duane Mitchell were both named Capital One Academic All-District First Team last November. It was the second straight year Faraci earned this honor and the first such award for Mitchell, as they continued the trend of academic successes in the football program. These two accolades gave the Colonial program at least one Academic All-District honoree in each of the past 12 seasons, a span in which Robert Morris has taken home 23 overall selections. To put that in perspective, no other NEC school has an active streak of football Academic All-District selections lon-ger than three years. Mitchell, a finance major, became the first RMU wide receiver to ever claim this honor.

Special Special Teams - True freshman Warren Robinson was named the NEC’s Special Teams Player of the Week Sept. 21. The rookie returned three punts for 89 yards Sept. 19, including a 66-yard return for a touchdown. It marked only the fourth punt return for a touchdown in RMU history, but it was the first ever by a freshman. In fact, he is the only freshman among the 123 FCS programs to return a non-blocked punt for a touchdown in 2015. Robinson’s 66-yard scamper was the second longest punt return in RMU history. He ranks among the top 10 in the FCS in punt return average (16.2).

Seventh Heaven - Robert Morris was selected to finish seventh in the annual preseason Northeast Conference coaches poll. That fact may actually bode well for the Colonials on multiple fronts. In two of the past three seasons, the team picked seventh in the league has gone on to claim the NEC's automatic bid into the FCS Playoffs. Furthermore, the only other time in the past decade that Robert Morris was placed in the seventh position in the preseason poll came in 2006. RMU finished 7-4 that season and was a game out of first place at 5-2 in the league. In fact, the Colonials led the nation in total defense that season, allowing an average of 228.4 yards per game.

Hurry Up – Robert Morris has run at least 80 offensive plays in a game 14 times in program history. After doing it eight times in its first 20 seasons, RMU has run 80+ plays six times since new offensive coordinator Darrin Hicks took over in 2014. The Colonials hit that figure four times in 2014 and twice in their first five games of 2015.

They'll Be Back - One interesting way to examine the state of the Colonial roster is to look at the number of players that started the season opener who will be finished with their careers after this season. Of RMU’s 22 offensive and defensive starters from its opener, only five Colonials—two on offense, three on defense—will have used all of their NCAA eligibility when the 2015 campaign is completed.

Times Two - One of the mainstays that returned to the RMU defense in 2015 is redshirt senior Forrest Mason. Mason earned his second straight All-NEC honor in 2014, making him just one of five Colonials ever to claim multiple all-league honors as a defensive lineman. What made that accolade even more impressive is that the league’s coaches voted him to the team despite the fact that he was only able to appear in seven games. Mason is currently second in the NEC in tackles per game among defensive linemen (5.2). He returned his first career interception for a touchdown in a Sept. 19 win.

The Nurse Will See You - RMU's starting center, redshirt senior Nick Faraci, became the fifth Colonial in school history, and the first on the offensive side of the ball, to earn a prestigious Academic All-America award this past December. However, that may not even be his most impressive feat. Faraci graduated from RMU in May with the highest grade point average in his nursing class. He subsequently passed his nursing board exams in the summer to earn his registered nurse (RN) license. Faraci, who owns a 3.94 cumulative GPA, worked in four area hospitals as part of his clinical rotations over the past few years.

Ramming Defenses - Sophomore Rameses Owens carried the RMU offense in its road opener at nationally ranked Youngstown State. He rushed for 152 yards and two touchdowns, the first multi-TD effort of his career. It marked the third time he surpassed 150 rushing yards in his eighth collegiate start. In his first career start, Owens rushed for 199 yards at North Dakota. In doing so, he broke the RMU freshman single-game rushing mark and was also named National Freshman of the Week by The Sports Network. He also rushed for 154 yards in his first home start against Monmouth (10/4/14).

Third Degree - Robert Morris finished the 2013 campaign ranked among the top 25 in the FCS in third down defense, allowing opponents to convert at a .349 clip. The Colonials managed to improve that figure to .331 in 2014 although that placed them one spot outside the top 25 nationally. If the first five weeks are any indication, RMU will perform well in that area again in 2015 as its opponents are 26-for-81 (.321) on third down.

Back-to-Back - Sophomore strong safety Ryan Richards Jr. was named Northeast Conference Defensive Player of the Week in the first release of the season. It marked the second straight weekly release in which he was honored as he claimed rookie accolades to close the 2014 sea-son. Richards grabbed a pair of interceptions in the season opener, his fourth career start, while adding six tackles and a pass breakup. Richards owns a league-leading three intercep-tions in 2015, and four in his career, along with 28 tackles and two pass breakups.

Ground Game - Robert Morris posted a sizeable advantage in rushing yards Sept. 26 at No. 6 South Dakota State (228-125). This was due in large part to the Colonials averaging 6.0 yards per carry compared to 3.5 for the Jackrabbits. It marked the 14th time in program history, but just the fourth since 2000, in which a Colonial team averaged at least 6.0 yards per carry. That effort helped RMU rush for 200+ yards in back-to-back games for the first time since 2010.

Thou Shall Not Rush - The Robert Morris defense put forth a strong effort against the nation's fifth-leading rusher from a year ago in its 2015 season opener. Dayton's Connor Kacsor aver-aged over 140 yards per game on the ground in 2014, but the Colonials held him to nearly half that mark Sept. 5. RMU held Kacsor to 2.2 yards per carry on 33 attempts after he averaged 6.1 yards per carry during the 2014 season. In two of Kacsor's three games since, he has topped 225 rushing yards and reached the end zone at least three times.

Robert Morris in the 2015 NEC StatsThe Founding Father - The one constant in the first two decades of Colonial football was former head coach Joe Walton. Walton, the former NFL tight end and head coach of the New York Jets, started the program from scratch, com-pleting everything from hiring assistants to purchasing equipment. He was named NEC Coach of the Year four times in 18 seasons and guided RMU to a pair of NCAA I-AA mid-major national crowns during his time on the side-lines. Walton, currently a special assistant to the athletic director at Robert Morris, was inducted into the RMU Athletic Hall of Fame in November 2013.

Get To The Chopper - A quick glance at RMU’s record when broken down proves how important it is the Colonials get off to a good start in contests. When Robert Morris is leading at halftime, the program owns an all-time record of 89-15 (.856). When trailing at the break, Robert Morris owns a mark of 15-81-1 (.160). Even going into halftime tied is beneficial, as the Colonials own an overall record of 14-9 (.609) in such games.

The Magic Mark - Since the Colonials began play in 1994, there have been 77 games in which Robert Morris has scored 30 or more points. In those contests RMU boasts a record of 72-5 (.935), including a record of 43-5 (.896) in games in which the team scores between 30 and 39 points. In games in which the Colonials score 40 or more points, RMU is a perfect 29-0.

RMU Football Historical Tidbits - The inaugural running back at Robert Morris, the late Tim Hall (1994-95), rushed for 2,908 yards in his two seasons as a Colonial. Hall still owns the FCS season and career records for yards per carry, with his season record of 8.7 yards per carry set in 1994 and his two-year career record of 7.4 established in 1994 and 1995 ... Hall also ranks fourth all-time in the FCS in both rushing yards per game (153.1) and all-purpose yards per game (194.8) ... Former Colonial linebacker James Noel (2002-05) ranks sixth in the FCS record book for career tackles per game (10.7), while his career tackle total of 437 takedowns ranks 15th all-time ... Former linebacker and assistant coach Alex DiMichele (2008-10) averaged 10 tackles per game over his three years in a Robert Morris uniform, which ranks 13th all-time in the FCS record book ... Robert Morris has topped the nation in passing defense twice in the past 16 years, based on passing effi-ciency defense rating. The Colonials topped the charts in 1999 (with a 80.80 rating) as well as in 2006 (with a 88.70 rating).

Did You Know? - Robert Morris owns the all-time FCS record for the most consecutive quarters while holding an opponent scoreless. During the 1996 season, the Colonials went 15 straight quarters without allowing a single point. In fact, the record-setting streak occurred at the beginning of the sea-son. RMU posted three straight shutouts -- 20-0 against Mercyhurst (9/7), 38-0 against Butler (9/14) and 7-0 against Towson State (9/21) -- to open the campaign and then held Central Connecticut State (9/28) scoreless for the first three quarters before finally allowing a point for the first time all sea-son. In all, Robert Morris went 234:04 before allowing a point in 1996. RMU went 9-2 (.818) in 1996, claiming a share of the NEC championship, and con-ceded just 12.9 points per game.

Robert Morris CaptainsHead coach John Banaszak announced after the team's final scrimmage that four Colonials will serve as captains in the 2015 season.

OFFENSERedshirt senior Nick Faraci and senior Max Robertson are the team’s captains on offense. Faraci has started each of RMU’s past 38 games at center and was selected as an Academic All-American in 2014. Robertson started 31 games at left guard over the past three seasons, but he was shifted down a spot to left tackle prior to the 2015 season.

DEFENSERedshirt seniors Forrest Mason and Mike Stojkovic are the team’s captains on defense. Mason is a two-time All-Northeast Conference honoree and is one of just five defensive lineman in RMU history to earn multiple all-league honors. He owns 113 tackles and 13.0 sacks in his career. He became the first Colonial defensive lineman to be named NEC Defensive Player of the Week in over 15 years last October. Stojkovic, who served as a captain in the latter half of the 2014 season, was ranked among the top five in the league in tackles per game last year and totaled 82 stops. He owns 148 tackles and 16.0 tackles for loss in a Colonial uniform. The Texas native began his col-legiate career at FBS institution North Texas.

Gameday Colonial football games are heard live on ESPN Radio AM-970 Pittsburgh, the flagship station of Robert Morris University athletics. ESPN 970 and RMU reached a three-year agreement in the summer of 2013 to broadcast foot-ball, men’s basketball and men’s hockey games. The Voice of the Colonials, Chris Shovlin, and color analyst Brian Cleary call the football action. RMU Assistant Media Relations Director Spencer Kowitz joins Shovlin as color analyst for select Colonial road games. "The John Banaszak Show" is on 30 minutes prior to kickoff. Games can also be heard on the station’s website, www.970espn.com, as well as on iHeartRadio. RMU home and league games can generally be seen live for free on NEC Front Row, the conference’s online digital network. The league has added multiple upgrades in recent years, including the ability to transmit live events in HD as well as providing the ability for the viewer to use a DVR-style, in-game real-time rewind feature. Robert Morris will also have at least four games that will air on ESPN3 in 2015: 9/12 @ Youngstown State, 9/26 @ South Dakota State, 10/10 vs. Sacred Heart and 10/31 @ Central Connecticut State.Weekly Segments Coach Banaszak sits down for a weekly chat with play-by-play voice Chris Shovlin most Mondays at the All Star Sports Bar & Grill in either Robinson or Canonsburg. Their discussion is aired live on ESPN 970 from 8-9 p.m. Coach Banaszak also has a weekly segment on TribLIVE Radio that generally can be heard on Wednesday at 9:45 a.m. A Colonial student-athlete is also usually featured on ESPN 970 during a weekday afternoon.

Colonials in the NFLSince Robert Morris played its first season in 1994, three former Colonials have appeared in a game in the National Football League (NFL), the most among current NEC members in this span as of August 2015. Many players have “rewritten” record books at various schools. At Robert Morris, however, Tim Hall wrote the record book. Hall rushed for 2,908 yards on 393 carries in his two seasons in a Colonial uniform and was named an All-American by the Associated Press in 1995. He was drafted by the Oakland Raiders in the sixth round (183rd player overall) in the 1996 NFL Draft. In 1997, he led the Raiders in yards per carry average with 5.2 and was second in rushing yards to Napolean Kaufman. On Sept. 30, 1998, Hall was shot and killed in Kansas City at age 24. Hank Fraley, who played on the offensive line for Robert Morris from 1996-1999, carved out a niche for himself in the NFL for over a decade. Fraley was a three-time Mid-Major All-American during his years at RMU before he was signed by the Pittsburgh Steelers to a free-agent contract in April 2000. Fraley was later claimed by the Eagles and started at center for Philadelphia for the entire 2001 season, helping the team to the 2002 NFC Championship game. For four straight seasons with Fraley starting at center from 2002-05, the Eagles appeared in the NFC Championship game. In 2005, Fraley became the first RMU alum to appear in the Super Bowl when he started at center against the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XXXIX. Former RMU defensive back Robb Butler played for the San Diego Chargers during the 2004 season and was featured in special teams situations, including returning kickoffs.
