INTRODUCTION

• Industrial waste refers to the solid, liquid and gaseous

emissions, residual and unwanted wastes from an industrial

operation. Industrial wastes are hazardous since they are

corrosive, reactive, and toxic hence leading to extensive

pollution. Industrial waste can be reduced through recycling,

treatment before release and utilizing bio-friendly methods of

manufacturing.

• COFFEE WASTE WATER:-Unpicked fruits of the coffee tree known as the coffee cherry must undergo a long process to make it ready for consumption.

To determine the types of waste stemming from coffee processing.

a. Dry processing

b. Semi-washed processing

c. Fully-washed processing

• MUNICIPAL SOLID WASTE :It includes food waste , yard waste containers and product packaging and other miscellaneous inorganic waste from residential, Commercial institutional and industrial sources.

Example:- newspaper, clothing, furniture.

• HUMAN WASTE :- Human waste is a waste usually used to refer the by

product of digestion such as faces and urine.

Human waste is most often transported as sewage in waste water

through sewage system.

• INDUSTRIAL WASTE :-it is classified into three types.

> slag

> fly ash

> inter waste

Slag:-it can usually considered to be a metal oxide and silicon dioxide

Fly ash:-fly ash is one of the residue generated in combustion and comprises the fine particles that uses with the flue gases.

• MEDICAL WASTE :-medical waste are known as clinical waste normally refer to waste product that cannot be considered general waste product from health care such as hospital, veterinary hospital and labs.

SOURCES OF WASTE

• FOOD PRODUCTION :Indeveloping and developed countries who operates

either commercial or industrial agriculture food .waste can occur at most stage of the food industry.

FOOD PROCESSING WASTE

Fruits, vegetables and tubers

Sugar, starch and confectionary

Grains, legumes and oilseeds

Meat, poultry and egg

Fish and marine product

WASTE DISPOSABLE TREATMENT

• The self-purification ability of receiving water highly limited and they cannot withstand increasing loads of organic and inorganic pollutants.

TREATMENT STEPS

Industries waste are treated in three steps:-

Primary treatment

Secondary treatment

Tertiary treatment

PRIMARY TREATMENT:-physicochemical characteristics of the effluents are adjusted in such a way that the effluents is made suitable for biological treatment.

primary treatment involves –

# screening

# skimming

# sedimentation involving physical and chemical process

# neutralization

# equalization

SECONDARY TREATMENT :- biological treatment methods that includes both aerobic and anaerobic method.

# Aerobic Method:- the aerobic micro-organism oxidize the organic matter

to give carbon dioxide and water.

# Anaerobic Method :- some of the anaerobic research are.

= anaerobic filter

= anaerobic baffled research

=anaerobic lagoon

TERTARY TREATMENT :-It involves process like

Coagulation

Ion exchange

Fluoridation

Taste and odour removal

Removal of ion and manganese

In this type of industry following are the waste

Skin

Bones

Blood :- Blood is the main waste product of meat industry .This can be used to produce some useful product like fertilizer and other items.

Hair :-Hair is also a main waste. This waste used to produce winter clothes.

In this types of industry the following waste occur.

Fin

Heads

Tails

fish maws

Skin

Fish maws:- Fish maws can be used for the purification of wines. Besides this, they can be used for making different soups.

Fin:- Fin are used in making soups.

Skin:- The skin is being used for the manufacture of leather. The leather can be used for the making shoes, handbag, and other fancy items.
