OPENING CREDITS

• The opening credits are an essential part to the opening sequence of any film. Whilst on the surface they display key information such as the title of the film and some of the main cast members, the opening credits do much more than this. The opening credits can aid in setting the initial tone of the film as well as building suspense and tension(especially in the opening to thriller films) and subtly show the audience some crucial details which could entice them to carry on watching the rest of the film. This includes the genre of the film, the possible narrative, themes of the film and the style of the film.

In most psychological-thriller film posters, the choice of font colour is usually, red, white, black or different shades of grey. This could be because it contrasts with the eerie, obscure and mysterious images that are shown in the posters. This type of imagery calls for a font colour that matches its theme. For example, the connotations of red and black are usually fear, danger or evil.
