    MASTON, LECOMTE AND LUAL-ACUIL EARN BIG 12 HONORS• Terry Maston (Sixth Man Award), Manu Lecomte (Second Team) and Jo Lual-Acuil Jr. (Third Team) were honored with 2018 All-Big 12 awards, as voted on by the league’s coaches.• This marked a 12th consecutive season Baylor has had multiple All-Big 12 honorees.• Baylor’s starting point guard was named All-Big 12 for a 7th straight season and 13th time in the last 14 years.• Maston became the fourth Baylor player to win the league’s Sixth Man Award, joining LaceDarius Dunn (2009 freshman season), Quincy Acy (2011 junior season) and Taurean Prince (2015 junior season).• Lecomte became the ninth Baylor player selected to one of the three coaches’ All-Big 12 teams in consecutive seasons. He was an All-Big 12 Third Team selection as a junior in 2017 and moved up to Second Team in 2018.• Lual-Acuil earned a spot on the All-Big 12 Third Team after being named to the All-Newcomer and All-Defensive teams as a junior in 2017.     BEARS PULL AWAY FROM WAGNER FOR NIT FIRST ROUND WIN• Baylor built an 21-9 lead in the first quarter of its NIT first round game against Wagner on March 13, and Wagner couldn’t cut the deficit to less than 7 points the rest of the way, as BU won 80-59 at the Ferrell Center.• Baylor’s lead was 53-43 heading to the fourth quarter, but BU started on a 14-2 run to put the game away.• Five Bears scored in double-figures, led by Manu Lecomte’s game-high of 24 points and 6 assists.

    TURNOVERS COSTLY IN BIG 12 QUARTERS LOSS TO WVU• Baylor built an early 18-9 lead in its Big 12 Championship quarterfinal game vs. West Virginia, but WVU closed the half on a 20-5 run capped by a halfcourt shot at the buzzer to take a 29-23 lead at the break.• The Bears cut the deficit to 2 points early in the second half, but WVU answered with an 11-0 run and the Bears trailed by at least 9 points the rest of the way. • Manu Lecomte scored a game-high 27 points, including 22 in the 2nd half, and posted a career-high 6 boards.

Omot scored 11 points as part of a 13-2 Baylor run that cut the deficit to 62-57 with 6:20 remaining, but that’s as close as Baylor would get.

    BEARS GET HUGE WIN OVER OKLAHOMA ON SENIOR NIGHT• Baylor held OU to 5-of-25 shooting in the first half on its way to a 39-19 halftime lead, and the Bears led by at least 16 points the rest of the way as they cruised to an 87-64 Senior Night win over Oklahoma on Feb. 27.• Baylor’s four scholarship seniors combined for 65 points, out-scoring OU on their own. Terry Maston (23), Jo Lual-Acuil Jr. (17), Manu Lecomte (16) and Nuni Omot (9) combined to shoot 26-of-47 (55%) from the field.• BU out-scored OU 52-26 in the paint and out-rebounded the Sooners 44-29.

    DEFENSIVE STRUGGLES COST BEARS AT TCU• Baylor allowed TCU to shoot 54% from the field in an 82-72 loss in Fort Worth on Feb. 24.• The Bears trailed by 5 at the half, but fought back to take a 57-56 lead with 8:50 remaining, but TCU scored on 10 of their 13 remaining possessions to finish at 70% shooting in the 2nd half (16-of-23).• Baylor posted 50 points in the paint, and all 25 of the Bears’ 2-point field goals were in the paint.• Jo Lual-Acuil Jr. had a game-high 22 points, while Tristan Clark added 14 points and Mark Vital had 12.

    EARLY TURNOVERS TOO MUCH TO OVERCOME VS.     LUAL-ACUIL’S DUNK GIVES BEARS DOUBLE OT WIN AT TEXAS• Baylor finally won a one-possession game, when Jo Lual-Acuil’s putback dunk with 6 seconds remaining gave the Bears a 74-73 double-overtime win at Texas on Feb. 12. It was the Bears’ 4th straight victory.• The Bears led by as many as 9 points and led for 41:37 of game time, while trailing for only 2:48.• Texas tied the game with two free throws with 12 seconds left in regulation and again tied it with two freethrows with 3 seconds left in the first OT.     BEARS GET SIGNATURE WIN OVER NO. 10 KANSAS• Baylor got its best win of the season with an 80-64 victory over No. 10 Kansas on Feb. 10, its 3rd straight win.• The Bears held Kansas to 20 first-half points, its fewest in a half this season, and BU had a 30-20 lead at half.• Kansas cut the Baylor lead to 58-56 with 7 minutes left, but Manu Lecomte answered with an 8-0 run on his own and Baylor led by at least 9 points the rest of the way. Lecomte had 18 points and a game-high 6 assists.• BU shot .654 (17-of-26) in the 2nd half and finished at .566 (30-of-53), its best in a Big 12 game this season.• The win snapped an 11-game losing streak against Kansas and was Baylor’s first over a ranked team this season.

    TOUGH DEFENSE GIVES BEARS FIRST ROAD WIN, SWEEP OF OKLAHOMA STATE• Baylor claimed its first road win of the season and swept the season series vs. OSU with a 67-56 win on Feb. 6.• BU pulled away by holding Oklahoma State scoreless for a span of 9:36, going on a 16-0 run to take a 44-30 lead.• The Bears led by at least 5 points the rest of the way, holding OSU to 37% from the field and 24% from 3-point range.• Baylor won despite shooting a season-low 48 field goals and committing 19 turnovers.

    INSIDE ADVANTAGE LEADS TO WIN OVER IOWA STATE• Baylor overcame a 32-30 halftime deficit and poor 3-point shooting (2-of-14) in an 81-67 win over Iowa State on Feb. 3.• The Bears shot 77% (17-of-22) on 2-point attempts in the 2nd half, building a 52-28 advantage in points in the paint.• Baylor’s defense held Iowa State below 30% on 2-point attempts (14-of-47) and out-rebounded ISU 43-35.• Baylor’s bench out-scored ISU 40-8, with Terry Maston posting a career-high 23 points on 9-of-11 shooting.• Jo Lual-Acuil Jr. posted his 10th double-double of the season with 10 points, 14 rebounds and 4 blocks.

    BEARS PUT UP 96 POINTS IN LOSS AT NO. 12 OKLAHOMA• Baylor again had a late lead slip away, as the Bears were up 3 in the final minute before No. 12 Oklahoma rallied for a 98-96 win in Norman on Jan. 30. It was Baylor’s most points in a loss since Jan. 23, 1995, more than 23 years ago.• BU was led by 29 points from Manu Lecomte and 23 points off the bench from Nuni Omot.• Baylor shot 51.7% from 3-point range (15-of-29), making its most 3-pointers since Feb. 12, 2014.• Omot went 6-of-6 from 3-point range, breaking the school record for most 3-pointers made without a miss.• Trae Young made as many free throws (16-of-19) as the Bears attempted as a team (11-of-16).

    FLORIDA BURNS NETS TO HAND BU FIRST BIG 12/SEC CHALLENGE LOSS• Baylor fell in an early hole with No. 20 Florida making 9-of-12 first-half 3-pointers, and the Bears were unable to mount a comeback in an 81-60 loss in Gainesville on Jan. 27. It was BU’s first loss in the Big 12/SEC Challenge (4-1).• Florida jumped out to a 24-14 lead, and the Bears couldn’t cut the deficit beyond 9 points the rest of the way.• For the game, Florida made 14-of-25 (56%) from 3-point range, while BU went 3-of-15 (20%) from downtown.

    BROWN AND WADE LEAD K-STATE PAST BEARS• Baylor trailed by 16 points in the first half at 35-19, and though the Bears cut the deficit to 5 points at halftime, they were never able to get any closer in a 90-83 loss on Jan. 22 at the Ferrell Center.• Barry Brown and Dean Wade combined for 58 points on 18-of-28 from the field and 18-of-20 from the foul line.• K-State started the second half on a 26-12 run to rebuild their lead to 19 points at 71-52 with 10 minutes left.• Baylor’s 83 points were its most in a loss since Dec. 28, 2012. a 94-87 loss at No. 13 Gonzaga.

BU fell to 0-16 all-time in Lawrence.• The Bears fell behind 9-0 early and didn’t get within 5 points until less than 13 minutes remaining in the game. The Bears limited Texas to 20 points in the second half, including holding the Longhorns scoreless over the final 5 minutes.• BU trailed 40-33 with one minute left in the first half, but the Bears closed the half on a 5-0 run and kept the momentum with a 6-0 run to start the second half to take a 44-40 lead. BU took a 60-56 lead with 3:53 remaining in the second half, but TCU went on a 6-0 run to go back in front.• Jake Lindsey drove for a layup with 17 seconds left to tie the game and force overtime, and the Bears led by 2 points with 1:30 remaining in OT before a Vlad Brodziansky 3-pointer gave TCU a lead it wouldn’t relinquish.• Jo Lual-Acuil Jr. and Terry Maston returned to form after missing time with injuries. Lual-Acuil had 28 points and 11 boards in a career-high 42 minutes, while Maston added 20 points and 9 boards in 28 minutes off the bench.

    BIG MAN INJURIES COSTLY IN LOSS AT TEXAS TECH• BU suffered a 77-53 loss in its Big 12 opener at No. 22 Texas Tech on Dec. 29.• The Bears were playing without their second-leading scorer Jo Lual-Acuil Jr., who sat out with a left foot sprain, and though Terry Maston returned after missing 6 games with a broken shooting hand, he went 0-for-4 from the field.• BU recorded a Drew-era low 3 assists, and were out-rebounded by 18 (39-21), its most since Nov. 30, 2008.• Mark Vital tied his career high with a team-best 12 points in his first start.• Vital combined with Tristan Clark to give the Bears two freshmen starters in the frontcourt.
