Our guide to the London Design Festival, one day at a time Monday 22.09.14 A floral art installation commissioned by Focus will take centre stage in the Design Centre. Erected by floral artist Rebecca Louise Law, the floral sky will consist of 6,500 blooms. Terence Conran (3) and Fiona Barratt-Campbell are just two of the many speakers at Focus this year. Subjects of the talks range from decision-making and creativity, to ‘Imagining the future: mid-century design pioneers of the 1950s and 1960s’. Products: Philip Jeffries exclusive fall 2014 preview at Beacon Hill. Seminars/talks: Terence Conran talk: ‘Good design makes you happier’.’ With over 500 brands across 99 showrooms, Focus offers a multitude of choice for interiors, located at the Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour. There are to be many new product launches, from furniture to fabrics. This year, Focus/14 welcomes a long line up of talks and seminars from leading figures in design as well as installations and restaurants. Highlights: Baker launches nine pieces from its new furniture collection by McGuire, the ‘Hex’ table (1) and ‘Guernica’ fringe chair combine textiles with furniture. Christopher Guy has expanded its showroom which is now the largest in the Centre - a collection inspired by Coco Chanel will also be on display there. (2) For new lighting, Porta Romana will be exhibiting its ‘Capsule’ collection in collaboration with Tord Boontje. Another collaboration launch will be V+A Baths and Menghello Paolelli Associati, with their new ‘Amiata’ bath (and please join us there for a talk with the designers at 10am on Weds 24 September). With many new fabric launches at the show, look out for Zoffany and their new Indian inspired Jaipur collection. Kravet will also be showcasing a new range by Diane von Furstenburg. Lelievre will be celebrating 100 years and launching a new collection by Holland & Sherry and Thomas Callaway at Focus. Spectacular panoramas form the new Eldorado wallpaper collection by Elitis at Abbott & Boyd. Also exhibiting wallpaper is Armani Casa with their new wide width collection.
