Focus for Final Exams – Spring 2015 You will be expected to know the following areas with a view to recognizing the clinical features and the main modes of treatment: 1. Schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders 2. Mood disorders - 3. Anxiety disorders 4. Somatic symptom and related disorders (include Factitious disorder and malingering 5. Personality disorders 6. Psychiatric emergencies 7. Childhood disorders (ADHD,ODD,CD) For the disorders, you will relate the clinical features to the first section of the DSM IV/V criteria, bearing in mind that the remainder of the criteria usually addresses differential diagnoses, substance misuse or functional impairment. You need to know the drugs which essentially are antipsychotics, antidepressants, anti-anxiety (anxiolytics), mood stabilizers(LiCO 3 and the anticonvulsants) and the antiparkinson agents (Benztropine, Trihex phenidyl, DPH (antihistamines). NB. For this exam, you will not be examined on Substance Misuse Disorders, Neurocognitive disorders, Sleep disorders or Eating and Feeding disorders.
