Competition has always been central to the development of FOCUS bicycles. Through relentless pursuit of victory at the highest level, FOCUS brings race-winning potential to all riders.

Since 2013, UCI ProTour team, AG2r La Mondiale have partnered with FOCUS, joining Jelly Belly p/b kenda, who have been aboard FOCUS since 2010.

A truly international effort, AG2r features 29 riders of more than seven nationalities, while Jelly Belly boasts four nations and 12 riders.

In 2013, AG2r raced aboard the Izalco Team SL and Izalco Chrono during stage races and one day events, as well as the Mares CX in cyclocross events. Jelly Belly piloted the Cayo Evo to numerous wins, including both the US and Mexican National Championships. In races against the clock, the Jelly Belly riders managed numerous wins aboard the Izalco Chrono.

AG2r La Mondiale and Jelly Belly p/b kenda are both dedicated to pursuing victory in the biggest events in the world. In FOCUS they have the perfect partner, providing both teams’ riders with equipment capable of meeting their goals. Christophe riblon emphatically proved the strength of the partnership in 2013, winning the 18th stage of the Tour de France on the daunting Alpe d’Huez. Freddie rodriguez (US) and Luis Lemus Davila (MEX) of Jelly Belly both won National Championships, while riding their Cayo Evo bikes.

1 accelerationThe time and effort needed to accelerate a wheel relates to its diameter. A 26” wheel has the least rotating mass so it is quickest off the mark. The 29” wheel enjoys the least rolling resistance once underway. A 27.5” wheel is a balance of the two.

2 anGle of attacKThe greater the diameter of a wheel, the smaller its angle of attack to the bumps and obstructions it confronts. Because of this, larger wheels make rough terrain easier to overcome.

3 imProveD rolloverAs with angle of attack, a large diameter wheel offers improved rollover on uneven surfaces. Its greater radius allows it to glide over closely spaced undulations, maintaining momentum and cornering speed.

4 WeiGhtA 27.5” wheel is a popular compromise because it weighs only fractionally more than a 26” wheel of the same construction and tire type. The weight increase for a 29” over a 27.5” wheel is around the same as from the small to the mid-size wheel.

5 more tractionThe bigger the wheel, the greater the area of tire surface contacting the ground. The greater this contact patch, the more traction the rider has. Because of this, large wheels offer better steering and braking.

6 momentumLarge diameter wheels are best at maintaining momentum. Although harder to accelerate initially, their greater mass along with smaller attack angle and improved rollover keep you moving faster on rough terrain.
