This particular s tudy on the Anthropometric Standards of Filipino Children Age 0-19 Years did it in grams and centimeters . Pains takingly, pediatricians from the Philippine Pediatric Society (PPS) and nutritionis ts from the Food and Nutrition Res earch Ins titute (FNRI) evaluated the growth pattern of Filipino children in repres entative communities . The data were collated, analyzed and validated by the Food and Nutrition Research Ins titute.

PREFACE
The past twenty years have witnessed the evolution of standards for anthropometlic assessment of childhood malnutlition in the Philippines. In 1971, recommended standards were based on the concept of the "ideal", i.e., the full potential that the population can attain given ideal conditions. More recently, so-called reference standards derived from the current population of c�inically healthy children were considered more appropriate for nutlitional assessment of individuals and communities.
For this purpose, a joint undertaking of the Food and Nutrition Research Institute and the Philippine Pediatric Society was made to come up with a more accurate assessment tool to clearly delineate healthy children from their malnourished counterparts. ·
This handbook contains growth tables and cha1ts from bilth to 19 years for weight-for-age, height-for-age, and weight-for-leng th or height together with other anthropometric parameters. It is intended for use of doctors, especially pediatricians, public health practitioners, nut� ritionists, field workers and others who are tasked with growth monitoring and the assessment of the nutritional status of Filipino children.
I take pride in presenting these new anthropometric standards, the best available at this time with the widest applicability. It is hoped that this handbook will find extensive use by professionals in their everyday practice.
