    Hearts produced a fantastic display to knock Hibs out of

    the League cup. Hearts took the lead early through

    Michael Stewart in the 14th minute. They doubled their

    advantage with a fine strike from Conor Sammon. Hearts

    never looked in trouble the whole game and finally killed

    off Hibernian hopes with the third goal from David Obua.

    Hibernian turned this game on its head to gain a smash

    and grab victory at Easter Road.

    Celtic dominated the first half and missed a lot of chances

    before Kevin McCann brought down Nakamura for a

    penalty. Nakamura took the penalty himself and scored.

    Celtic went in at half time wondering how they hadnt

    scored more. Just 27 seconds into the second half Benni

    McCarthy scored an equalizer for Hibernian. Celtic wereclearly stunned as two minutes later Derek Riordan

    popped up to make it 2-1 Hibs. Just twelve minutes later

    Easter Road was bouncing again as Benni McCarthy made

    it 3-1. Celtic did score a second through Scott McDonald in

    the 78th minute but Hibernian held on for a fantastic

    victory.

    Well it was a fantastic result and the fans should enjoy it

    but there is still a long way to go in the season so we are

    just going to keep our feet on the ground

    Hibernian cruised into the quarter finals of the Scottish

    Cup today with a three nil victory over Morton.

    Benni McCarthy opened the scoring from the penalty spot

    in 20th minute. He then added a second in the 37th minute

    with a fantastic goal from outside the box. Into the second

    half Hibs midfielder Wesolowski made it three with a

    header from a corner. Mortons day miserable day was

    completed with the sending off of full back Brian Wilson.

    Benni McCarthy scored two more goals yesterday to make

    it six goals from seven games.

    McCarthy is said to be delighted to be scoring goals again

    and hes credited manager Jamie Macnab for his current

    revival.

    Hibernian got off to a flying start at Cappielow when

    Riordan scored in the third minute. Morton managed to

    see out the first half without conceding any more however

    it took Hibs just three minutes to get there second, this

    time from inform striker Benni McCarthy. James McCarthy

    then added a third with a powerful shot inside the box. It

    was soon four following a mistake from the Mortondefence allowed Riordan to get his second with a curling

    shot from just outside the box.

    Hibernians fantastic run kept on yesterday as they

    hammered Morton four nil. The Hibees are now on a run of

    five straight league wins.

    Hibernian now find themselves in a great postion forplaying in europe next season.

    Inverness CT have sacked manager Craig Brewster

    following a three nil home defeat to Hearts. That result

    saw Inverness move down to tenth in the league.

    Hibernian defeated Aberdeen two nil in a thrilling match

    at Easter Road. Both sides started the match well with

    Hibernian hitting the post in the third minute before

    Aberdeen had a shot cleared off the line. However it was

    Hibernian who took the lead when Benni McCarthy

    smashed home a shot inside the box with five minutes togo in the first half. Hibernian and Aberdeen both had

    chances again early in the second half but it was

    Hibernian who had the ball in the net but this time it was

    ruled offside. Into the dying minutes and Marco Materazzi

    popped up with a header to seal the points for the Easter

    Road men.

    Monday 28th February

    Hibernian made it six straight wins yesterday when the

    defeated Aberdeen two nil at Easter Road. Hibernian are

    only five points behind second placed Rangers and a

    massive fourteen points ahead of city rival Hearts who are

    in fourth place.

    Manager Jamie Macnab called for fans to keep their feet

    on the ground. My boys have been fantastic this season.

    Couldnt have asked for more. Alot of people had written

    us off this season but we have showed them what a good

    footballing side this is. Fans will be enjoying this but we

    still have a thirteen games left and anything can happen.

    Macnab did revel that striker Benni McCarthy picked up a

    knock at the weekend and is likely to miss the gameagainst St. Johnstone.
