Introduction

Conservation education is the process of creating awareness among the human beings, improving their personal values concerning environment and natural resources to enable them to subsequently make decisions about their wise use. Conservation education is also the process of influencing people’s attitudes, emotions, knowledge, and behavior about forests, wildlife and environment. The goal of conservation education ultimately lies in producing an active conservation­oriented citizen. This training is being conducted to instill the feeling of collective onus of conservation and hence pave way for ecologically balanced and sustained life on earth.

Aim

To train teachers of schools especially teacher in­charge of Eco clubs and to develop awareness about the immediate natural environment, plants, animals etc. They would be able to infuse responsibility of environmental conservation in the younger generation thereafter.

Facilitators

· In­ House Faculty having Conservation education experience.

· Guest Faculty with specialization in conservation.

Course Style

· Two­days online training

· Practical inputs by discussions with experienced officers/ resource persons involved in Conservation

· Case studies of successful and innovative conservation education

· Supported & supplemented by audio visuals and reading material

Mode of Delivery

The sessions will be held online through the Microsoft Teams portal with audio­visual aids. The participants will need to make themselves available at a place with a computer/laptop and good internet connectivity. Video conferencing facilities including microphones and cameras should be available which can also be availed through smartphones by the participants.

Participants

The course is designed for in­service Teachers and in­charges of Eco clubs of different States in India nominated by the State. Non­nominated participants are also welcome to participate through the link displayed on the CASFOS website, on youtube and/or facebook.

Duration

The course will be of two days duration commencing at 10 am on 3rd August 2021 and ending at 5.00 pm on 4th August 2021. There will be six sessions of about 90 minutes.

Topics to be CoveredThe program will cover topics related to Conservation Education. Some of the key topics to be covered would be :­

· Environment Conservation and climate change

· Energy Conservation – Green Protocol & renewable practices at School

· Effective waste management in Schools · Green auditing of Schools· Architects in nature

Course Material

In addition to the classroom sessions, all the course material, papers, presentations, session audio recordings etc will be shared with all the participants through e­ mail and other electronic means. The nominated participants i.e. one per State would also be provided with a set of books and publications.

Certificate

A certificate of participation will be provided to all the participants having appreciable attendance above 80% at the end of the course.
