The Plaza’s symbolic layersConcrete bands mimic road grid along borderwhile creating 13 areas of paving (for Canada’s10 provinces & 3 territories) while the plaza ispaved in 50 rows of bricks (for the 50 American states). Four planting areas included would celebrate the four growing seasons of ourshared temperate climate on the West Coast.

Managed MeadowsAn open or sparselytreed lawn mowed onlytwice per year. Provideshabitat for owls, deer, &other small animals.
Replanted ForestDue to wind-�rm issues the existing forest needs tobe removed. A new forest will be replanted towardthe park’s edge to providevaluable habitat.
Entry BeaconA vertical designand place-makingelement markingthe entry to thepark from the north.
Obelisk MarkersA play on the bordertheme introducingan axis line of obelisksto mark the symbolicborder through the park (based on theactual markers alongthe Canada/US border).
