General Description

Thank you very much for your special patronage of LG air conditioners.

LG’s "Floor Standing" is the indoor unit which is used as luxury domestic or commercial appliance and is used inthe places like restaurant, store or meeting room.

This unit has good design and is equipped with many special features. It comes in different color to suits theinterior design and maintains the harmony of the room.Installation of floor standing unit is easy and it has verylow operating noise.Apart from that it has very special features such as child lock, neuro fuzzy control logic, dualplasma filter.

In installation field we can use this unit as the duct system also which makes it more dynamic and diversifiedthan other units. It has wide capacity range from 28~100kBtu/h.

A lot of information regarding the design and installation of this system is provided in this publication. This newproducts series contains data on the same pattern.

Floor Standing

Jet Cool: - In this mode quick and fast Cooling is done. Cold

and high velocity air is supplied to the room till the

indoor temperature reaches 18°C.

Tele Control : (Accessory)- It provides you ease of control. Air conditioner can

be switched on/off by the telephone. It saves time

and energy.

Anti Corrosion Gold Fin™- LG ’s Outdoor Heat Exchanger is coated with a golden

anti-corrosive epoxy treatment on the aluminum coil tominimized corrosion. This maintains heat transfer prop-erties of the coil for an extended time where as non-Gold Fin coils progressively lose efficiency due to sur-face corrosion. Standard on every LG air conditioner,this assists in areas suffering from pollution or near theocean where the unit may subjected to higher levels ofsalt.

3D Cubic Cooling System :- This model features three-way ventilations coming

from the front and both sides. This technology is thefirst of its kind in the world and enables it to cool offthe room temperature in the fastest way since thecooling air comes out from three portions.

Plasma Air Purifier:- It not only removes microscopic contaminants and

dust, but it also removes house mites, pollen, andpet fur to help prevent allergic diseases like asthma.It provides odor free, dust free and allergy free air.

Floor Standing

Child Lock Function:- It prevents the children or others from tampering with the

control buttons on the unit. Unit can be controlled by the

wireless remote controller.

Self Diagnosis Function:- This function provides diagnosis of the unit. An error

code will be displayed on the LED display panel and

diagnosis can be done as per the code indication.

Cooling, Heating and Fan Operation:- LG Floor Standing type air conditioners can provide cool-

ing, heating and fan operation. In the cooling mode, it

cools the air with an operation range of 18~30°C. In the

heating mode, it heats the air with an operation range of

16~30°C. In the fan operation mode, only indoor fan at

the selected speed will run, outdoor fan and compressor

will be off.

Wireless Remocon:- It provides ease of control.

Electric Heater:- Electric Heater can be used to provide heat in addition to

refrigerant cycle heat. It also provide and quick heating.

Auto Restart Operation :- Whenever there is an electricity failure to the unit, and after resumption of the power, unit will start in the same mode

prior to the power failure. Memorized conditions are on/off condition, operting mode (cooling/heating), set tempera-ture and fan speed. The unit will memorize the above conditions and start with same memorized condition.

Auto Swing:- Hot or cold air can be evenly distributed throughout the room as the auto

swing function blows air in 2 or 4 directions.

7-Hour On/Off Timer:- This function allows you to set the timer for one or up to seven hours.

Hot Start Function :- During starting of the unit in the heating mode it prevents cold air blown from the unit. It starts the indoor fan only

after indoor unit pipe temperature reaches a preset value(28°C). When indoor unit pipe temperature has reached28°C, then for initial 1 minute the indoor fan runs at low speed and after that at the set fan speed.

Defrost / Deicing :- In the heating mode, it prevents the ice formation on the outdoor unit. The heating cycle is reversed to the cooling

cycle to defrost the evaporator pipe of the outdoor unit. While defrost cycle, the compressor is on and indoor fan,outdoor fan and 4-way valve are off.

Soft Dry Operation :- During Soft Dry Operation, the compressor ON temperature is the setting temperature plus 2°C, the compressor

OFF temperature is the setting temperature minus 1°C. When the room temperature rises over the compressor ONtemperature, the operation mode is switched to the Cooling mode. When the room temperature falls between thecompressor ON temperature and OFF temperature, the operation mode is switched to the Soft Dry Operation.

Time Delay Safety Function:- It delays restarting of the compressor by three minutes, thereby preventing damage to the compressor.

13. Installation13.1 Select the best location13.1.1 Indoor Unit• There should not be any heat source or steam near the unit.• There should not be any obstacles to the air circulation.• There should be easy provision of condensate drain.• Taking into account the noise prevention criteria, spot the installation.• Keep proper distance of the unit from ceiling, fence, walls and other obstacles as shown figure.• The indoor unit must have the maintenance space around.

13.1.2 Outdoor Unit• If an roof is built over the unit to prevent direct sunlight or rain exposure, make sure that heat radiation from the

condenser is not restricted.• Do not place animals and plants in the path of the warm air.• Take the air conditioner weight into account and select a place where noise and vibration are minimum.• Select a place so that the warm air and noise from the air conditioner do not disturb neighbors.• Rooftop Installations : If the outdoor unit is installed on a roof structure, be sure to level the unit. Ensure the

roof structure and anchoring method are adequate for the unit location. Consult local codes regarding rooftopmounting.

13.2 Installation of Indoor unit and outdoor unit

13.2.1 Indoor Unit installationThe mounting floor should be strong and solidenough to prevent it from vibration.Drill the piping hole with 70mm diameter hole-coredrill at either on right or on left of the indoor unit.The hole should be sightly slant to the outdoorside.

Insert the plastic tube through the hole.

Cut the extruded outside part of the plastic tube, if necessary.

13.2.2 Outdoor unit InstallationInstall the outdoor unit on the concrete or anysolid base securely and horizontally by securing itwith bolts (Ø12mm) and nuts.If there is any vibration transmission to the build-ing, mount the rubber underneath the outdoorunit.

13.2.3 Refrigerant amountBefore shipment, this air conditioner is filled with therated amount of refrigerant including additionalamount required for air-purging, subject to 7.5m pip-ing length. (The rated amount of refrigerant is indicat-ed on the name plate.) But when the piping lengthexceeds 10 meters, additional charge is requiredaccording to the following table.

In case of 10m pipe(length), the aditionalof refriger-ant to be charged is:

Feet: (50 - 25) x 0.43 = 10.75 oz

13.3 Installation of Indoor unit and outdoor unit

13.3.1 Connecting the Cable to Indoor Unit• In order to protect cable, “Bushing Rubber” should be inserted.

• The inside and outside connecting cable can be connected after opening the inlet grille.

Open the inlet grille manually.

Open the control cover with Driver( ).

Connect the supplied cables to the connector in thecontrol box. (Method "A") (Except 80K Heat pump)

Connect the supplied cables to the connector in thecontrol box. (Method "B")(80K Heat pump model only)

Secure the control cover to the original positionwith the screw.

Close the inlet grille.

Procedure for Connecting the Cable to Indoor Unit, is as follows:

1. Open The Front Door Manually, as shown in Fig. 1.

2. Open the Control Box Cover (A) with Driver, ( ) as shown in Fig. 2.

3. Connect the Cables (LG Supply only for LP-Z Model’s) to the terminal Block of Indoor Unit, as shown in Fig.3.

4. Secure the Control Box Cover (A) to its original position with the help of Driver( ).

5. Close the Front Door.

❈ Refer to wiring diagrams when connecting cable to indoor unit.

The unit is completely wired internally at the factoryaccording to general rule of electrical technology,but local rules, if they are required, should be com-plied with.

1) Power supplyPower source must fulfill the following conditions:

The working voltage should be higher than 90%and lower than 110% of the rated voltage markedon the name plate.

The starting voltage should be higher than 85%of the rated voltage marked on the name plate.

Provide a recognized circuit breaker mentioredas below between power source and unit.A disconnection device to adequately disconnectall supply lines must be fitted.(for service operations)

The screws which fasten the wiring in the casingof electrical fittings are liable to be come loosefrom vibrations to which the unit is subjectedduring the course of transportation. Check themand make sure that they all are tightly fastened.(If they are loose, it could give rise to burn-out ofthe wires.)

See to it that the starting voltage is maintainedat more than 90 percent of the rated voltagemarked on the name plate.

The following troubles would be caused by volt-age drop-down.Vibration of a magnetic switch, damage on thecontact point there of, fuse breaking, distur-bance to the normal function of a overload pro-tection device.

2) WiringAfter the confirmation of the above conditions,prepare the wiring as follows:

Use the power supply cord(Rubber insulation,type Ho7RNF approved by HAR or SAA) suitablefor the product's electrical capacity.

13.4 Checking the Drainage and Form the Piping

13.4.1 Checking the Drainage

Remove the inlet grille with your hands as shown(right and left) and pull in the direction indicated bythe arrow.

Check the drainage• Pour a glass of water into the drain pan.• Ensure if water flows drain hose of indoor unit.

13.4.2 Form the Piping

Wrap the connecting portion of indoor unit with theinsulation material and secure it with two PlasticBands. (for the right piping)

• If you connect an additional drain hose, the endof the drain-outlet should be kept distance fromthe ground. (Do not dip it into water, and fix it onthe wall to avoid swinging in the wind.)

Tape the Piping, and Connecting Cable from down toup.

Form the piping gathered by taping along the exteriorwall and fix it onto the wall by saddle or equivalent.

In order to prevent water from entering the room,form a trap and tape the piping.

Fix the piping onto the wall with saddle or bracket.

When using the drain elbow hose, use

a mount of 3cm of higher.

13.5 Installation guide at the seaside

1. Air conditioners should not be installed in areas where corrosive gases, such as acid or alkaline gas, are pro-duced.

2. Do not install the product where it could be exposed to sea wind (salty wind) directly. It can result corrosionon the product. Corrosion, particularly on the condenser and evaporator fins, could cause product malfunc-tion or inefficient performance.

3. If outdoor unit is installed close to the seaside, it should avoid direct exposure to the sea wind. Otherwise itneeds additional anticorrosion treatment on the heat exchanger.

CAUTION

13.5.1 Selecting the location(Outdoor Unit)1) If the outdoor unit is to be installed close to the seaside, direct exposure to the sea wind should be avoided.

Install the outdoor unit on the opposite side of the sea wind direction.

2) In case, to install the outdoor unit on the seaside, set up a windbreak not to be exposed to the sea wind.

• It should be strong enough like concrete to pre-vent the sea wind from the sea.

• The height and width should be more than 150%of the outdoor unit.

• It should be keep more than 70 cm of spacebetween outdoor unit and the windbreak for easyair flow.

3) Select a well-drained place.
