SELF
/self/
Noun
1. A person’s essential being
that distinguishes them
from others, especially
considered as the object
of introspection or
reflexive action
“Our alienation from our true selves”
Synonyms: Ego, I, Oneself, Persona, Person,
Identity, Character, Personality, Psyche, Soul,
Spirit, Mind, (Inner) Being
In Your Mother’s Heels
Stop playing dress up in your mother’s shoes
Your feet cannot fill the absence of her steps
Her Prozac will not calm you any better than they numbed her
Take your breaths as easy as they come
Do not become a reflection of hysteria
Go back to playing afternoon tea and hopscotch
These windows and doors will only barricade you if you allow
them
Your father will not kiss your lips or declare you a wife
Wipe off that lipstick
Take off that lace
Pour the coffee from your mug
These touches are not meant for your flesh

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN
Regardless of previous year, remember;
Loving yourself is one of the least selfish, and most
fulfilling things that you could possbliy do.
Pull yourself out of bad relationships, regardless of
who the other person is. You have been alive too long
to be with or around people who make you feel bad.
Take care of yourself this year.
Say “Yes” when you mean it, and say “No” when you
mean it.
You are the ownser of your body.
Try to do something different once in a while.
Get that haircut.
Buy that lipstick.
Protect everyone you care about.
Protect yourself.
Live and let live.
Repreate this quote when you decide to stand up to
someone.
“May the bridges I burn light the way.”
