Good Companions Report The Good Companions held a bingo in November at the ffolkes and proceeds will help our funds during the coming 12 months. We have enjoyed a ride on the Poppy Line from Holt to Sheringham on a beautiful summer's day, had lunch and browsed and then taken to Cromer for the Summer Show on the Pier. Speakers have included Scotty's Little Soldiers, Susan Cross talking about the history of lighthouses and in particular those in Northern Ireland. We have visited Grimston Good Companions and shared a talk by Christine Adams on Ware Hall in Wells, the house which was taken brick by brick from Ware in Hertfordshire and re- built by its owner May Savidge in Wells. We had a very interesting talk from a rep- resentative of Sculthorpe Hawk and Owl Trust and on the same afternoon our Chairman, Derek Bix, gave a toast in ho- nour of Her Majesty's 90th birthday. We have enjoyed two lunches during the year and our third will be in December; we have also organised a Harvest Festival Tea at the ffolkes when we invite Grim- ston and Massingham groups. We were invited to Massingham Coro- nation Club to share their festive tea at the end of November and on the 20th Decem- ber we are off for another enjoyable after- noon at Thursford. So, all is well with Good Companions, we would like to thank you for your con- tinued support and wish you a Happy Christmas. CIDER SUPPER Andrew and Claire Jarvis are to be con- gratulated on running a very successful Cider supper event on the evening of Sat- urday, 5th November. They produced a tasty and sustaining meal of sausages and mashed potatoes accomanied by green peas and carrots. This was followed, as you would expect at a cider supper, by apple crumble and cream. Complimentary bottles of cider and apple juice were pro- vided from the juicing plant operated by Andrew. The event was very well organised and everything went without a hitch despite Andrew’s troubles with a broken kneecap and a leg in plaster. But he had profession- als Claire and Callum helping him so what could go wrong. The event was sponsored by Andrew and he was able to donate £170 to the Social Club for which we should all be very grateful. PARISH COUNCIL The Flitcham cum Appleton Parish Coun- cil met on the 1st November in the Com- munity Centre, we were delighted to have a member in the Parish volunteer to join us. The meetings are 6 times a year with the next one being on the 3rd January 2017, input from the village is so impor- tant and if you are unsure please come to the meeting and see what happens. We have a section in the meeting for parish- ioners to ask any questions they have, the Borough and County Councillor join us normally for part of the meeting with an update on current issues. Hallowe’en Party

Geoff & JaneThose who ventured out and braved thedark nights and the prevailing atmosphereof spookiness had a great time at our re-cent Hallowe’en event at the end of Octo-ber. Gavin, the steward and his littlehelpers had done a great job of decoratingthe club. Those who came were greetedfirst of all by a splendid display of carvedand illuminated pumpkins at the front ofthe club. Everyone came in fancy dressand there were some brilliant creations.Regrettably there isn’t enough space hereto show them all but we do have a photorecord. There was a grand spread of food avail-able. Musical entertainment was providedby our own Jamie Thurston.

Gavin won the fancy dress competitionwith his Frankenstein outfit, especially thegreat big clunky boots but the other cos-tumes were so good it was a very difficultcall to choose just one.We could have done with more peoplethere. The event was a great success interms of fun but only broke even finan-cially so there was no real gain to the bal-ance sheet which was an important aim. Itis vital to keep club funds coming in forsurvival. Without the income, we couldn’tkeep it going. Your support is needed.Sincere thanks to Gavin and Debbie for alltheir hardwork putting this together. Thesepictures tell the story of a fun time for bothadults and youngsters..

Guess whoOOoo! He probably does your motor.
