Flipped Classroom Emily Wagner Marlington High School
Flipped Classroom Idea A flipped classroom inverts traditional
teaching methods. Instruction is delivered outside of class and
the “homework” is moved into the classroom.
The “traditional” form of lecture does not cater to all learning styles.

Problems Encountered Pilot
Not a lot of student participation when it wasn’t checked for a “grade”
Learning how to successfully watch the videos
Time it takes to make and edit the video
Student Feedback A student survey was done at the end of the
school year and here are some comments from them: What was something that you liked about the
videos? “I liked that I could pause when I wanted to take
notes” “I liked how it was like a lesson in school and you
explained it like you would in class” “It was like one on one with you, it was much easier to
learn”
Student Feedback
Most students agreed that this should be done next year but not take place of regular note-taking all of the time.
Some students asked for a video to help them review for a test!
Things to change Amount of videos Have a certain number of videos required
throughout a given time period More than one night to do these if possible
Questions?
Time to practice Think of a concept that you could use
more time outside of class Come up with a script Make a short PowerPoint or SmartBoard
Lesson Record and Edit using Camtasia Software.
