Packet Abis & AoIP: Step-by-step configuration guideNew delivery Flexi BSC , PAbis over Ethernet, TC in MGW

The IP addresses used in the document conform to the presentation in the 'BSC Site IP Connectivity Guidelines' (DN03502792): private addresses are given explicitly; for routable addresses, hypothetical subnets a.b.c.0/24 and a.b.d.0/28 are used. In practice, subnets can be defined from the available address space and according to the required number of hosts.

BSC configuration

1. Preconditions

- S14 level BSCLAN configuration with L3 connectivity

- Sigtran has been created

2. HW installation .

a) SWU installation

- Install ESB24-D cards into Slot 15 of LANUs 0 (SWU6) and 1 (SWU7).

- Disconnect BSC from the external network, and restore L3 default settings to all BSCLAN SWUs through a serial connection. (This does not apply to the two EMB switches.)

*Before disconnecting, make sure that you have activated the licence for the new ESB24-D switches.

- Recable BSCLAN according to topology T9 ('BSC3i 1000/2000 and Flexi BSC (S15): Use of LAN Ports in LAN switches' (D-217214))

* The SFP modules used in the front panel ports of SWUs 6 and 7 are FCLF-8520-3 or FCLF-8521-3 for electrical connections and 21CFR(J) Class 1 for optical connections

* Cables of type CHES used for back panel cabling

* Front panel cables: CLC for optical connections and cross-connected CAT 5E for electrical connections.

- Configure the BSCLAN SWUs with T9 settings

* Command line scripts can be found in 'BSC Site IP Connectivity Guidelines' (DN03502792) or /BSC Site IP Configration Examples/ (DN70609908)

- Change the BSCLAN topology to T9 through MML

*ZW6G:T9;

- Add the new ETPLAN SWUs 6&7 to the topology

* Create the SWU-6 & 7 unitsZWTU:SWU,6:1A004-03;ZWTU:SWU,7:1A005-03;

* Create the ESB24-D plug-in unitsZWTP:SWU,6:ESB24_D,3,15;

Page 2: Flexi Eth Pabis Stepbystepconf

ZWTP:SWU,7:ESB24_D,3,15;

* Add SWU-6 & 7 into the topologyZWYC:S:4:SWU,6:MCMU,0;ZWYC:S:5:SWU,7:MCMU,0;

* Change the SWU-6 state to WOZUSC:SWU,6:SE;ZUSC:SWU,6:TE;ZUSC:SWU,6:WO;

* Change the SWU-7 state to WOZUSC:SWU,7:SE;ZUSC:SWU,7:TE;ZUSC:SWU,7:WO;

* Activate SWU-6 & 7ZW6E:SWU,6:A; ZW6E:SWU,7:A;

- Check LDI operation by connecting one-by-one to each SWU

* If SWU connection cannot be created, use a serial cable connection to check whether the SWU has received IP address correctly from DHCP. If DHCP address does not exist, renew and reboot the card.

Page 3: Flexi Eth Pabis Stepbystepconf

b) ETPE & ETPA installation

- Ensure that each ETP card contains SW

* Attach a serial cable to the card; if a Bist prompt appears, SW needs to be loaded.

- Define the desired ETP card type (ETPE, ETPA (, ETPT)) by inserting the correct ADMODxx module to each card.

- Check the card positions, CARIDs and CABIDs from 'Flexi BSC: Network Element HW Implementation of Release S15 vol1 (New Delivery)' (D-

343883) or from 'BSC3i 1000/2000 and Flexi BSC (S15): Use of LAN Ports in LAN switches' (D-217214).

- Observe the ETP card equipping order defined in /D-343883/

* ETPE cards are installed first to slot 19 of ETCs 0 and 2, and then to slots 22 and 25; following this ETPEs are installed into slot 29 of ETCs 1 and 3; finally ETPE cards are installed into GTICs 0 and 1, first into slot 16 of both cards and then into slot 14.

* ETPA cards are installed into ETCs 1 and 3, first into slot 35 of both cards and then into 32.

- In case HW redundancy shall be applied between ETPEs, add a CHFX cable between the cards forming an ETPE redundancy pair (The group indexes of the two ETPE cards forming a redundancy pair are of the format x-0 and x-1. /D-343883/)

- For the external connection, attach to the ETP card a cable together with the corresponding SFP module /D-343883/

c) CPU/PCULAN configuration

- Configure VLAN interfaces to OMU, all active BCSUs and PCUs. /DN03502792/

* Before creating new VLANs to OMU, remove all existing IP addresses and associated gateway addresses from the EL-interfaces. (ZQRI displays the existing interface configuration; ZQKP removes the gateway associated with the address to be removed; ZQKG removes the IP address.)

ZQRA:OMU::VLAN100,10,EL0,:; /*O&M*/

ZQRA:OMU::VLAN101,10,EL1,:; /*O&M*/

* VLAN interface for ETPSIG-I (VLAN20) need not be created to OMU.

* Sigtran-1 & Sigtran-2 VLANs (30 and 31) need to be created to BCSUs, in which VLANs were not used in S14. Before creating these, remove the existing IP addresses and associated gateway addresses from the BCSU EL-interfaces. (ZQRI displays the existing interface configuration, ZQKP removes the gateway associated with the address to be removed, and ZQKG removes the IP address.)

(ZQRA:BCSU,2::EL0::UP;) /*Create EL0 if doesn't exist yet*/

(ZQRA:BCSU,2::EL1::UP;) /*Create EL1 if doesn't exist yet*/

ZQRA:BCSU,2::VLAN300,30,EL0,:; /*Sigtran-1*/

ZQRA:BCSU,2::VLAN311,31,EL1,:; /*Sigtran-2*/

ZQRA:BCSU,2::VLAN400,40,EL0,:; /*ETPSig-E; if ETP-C not used,may be

omitted.*/

ZQRA:BCSU,2::VLAN401,40,EL1,:; /*ETPSig-E; if ETP-C not used,may be

omitted.*/

ZQRA:BCSU,2::VLAN410,41,EL0,:; /*OMUSIG*/

ZQRA:BCSU,2::VLAN420,42,EL0,:; /*TRXSIG*/

ZQRA:BCSU,2::VLAN421,42,EL1,:; /*TRXSIG*/

* VLAN interface for ETPSIG-I (VLAN20) need not be created to BCSUs.

Page 5: Flexi Eth Pabis Stepbystepconf

(ZQRA:BCSU,2:PCU2E:12:IFETH0::UP:;) /*Create IFETH0 to PCU if doesn't

exist yet*/

(ZQRA:BCSU,2:PCU2E:12:IFETH1::UP:;) /*Create IFETH1 to PCU if doesn't

* At PCU, VLAN creation required only on IFETH0.

ZQRA:BCSU,2:PCU2E:12:VLAN220,22,IFETH0,:::; /*PEP*/

* VLAN interface for Gb (VLAN50) need not be created to PCUs.
