An Introduction

• Flex Chaser (FC) is an innovative LED

based design software that helps you

simulate designs and patterns on pre-

defined channels.

• It can be mainly used for sequencing

of LED’s and Neon Lights.

Step 1 :Name the file and save it. This can be used later on also for editing.

Page 5: Flexer

Step 2: FC supports upto 32 channels. For e.g, if we want to sequence a signage board ‘WELCOME’, we would require 7 channels, assuming that each letter in ’WELCOME’ is made of a single colour LED. If you intend to use/backlit more than 1 colour, choose the no of channels accordingly. So, if we use 2 colours (say Red and Blue), we will need 14 channels for sequencing them.

Page 6: Flexer

Step 3:

1. Choose the microcontroller that you would like to burn your final file into.2. Note that FC works only on the 8051 architecture. It does not support any other controller.3. Depending on the Code memory, the memory space will automatically be allocated.

Page 7: Flexer

Step 4:1. Once you have selected the number of channels and the

controller, assign the port numbers for the channels accordingly.2. Freeze on your selection and you’ll see the Grid on your right.3. We are now ready to work on our sequencing. Let’s assume that

we have selected the AT89C51 with 32 channels

Page 8: Flexer

Step 5:1. Let us design and effect which will light up your

Sign Board from Left to Right. 2. As P0.0 of 89C51 represents our 1st Channel,

let’s select that.3. As we want to light up our board, one after the

other, we select the channels accordingly until the 32nd one.

4. Then, we light the whole board. 5. And then move from Right to Left.

Step 6 :Once done with our effect, ‘Insert To File.’ This will clear the Grid Panel and insert your pattern in memory

Page 10: Flexer

Step 7 :1. As many as 250 effects can be selected in

FC.2. Note that this depends entirely on the

memory /space left based on the controller you’ve selected

.

Page 11: Flexer

Step 8:1. Choose from various options like

varying of speed within the Effects2. Repeating a single frame a number

of times (upto 250*10ms)3. Insert to File again to store in

memory

Page 12: Flexer

Step 9 : Before finalizing on the effects, review your effects before-hand using the ‘Play Effect’ option on the main window.

Page 13: Flexer

Step 10:1. Once done click on ‘Create IC File’2. This will prompt you to save your

file and use it as many times as required in the future.

Page 14: Flexer

Step 11:Once you save the file, it is ready to be burnt into the micrcontroller. You’ll have two files created, one an intermediate file, and, second the final file.

Page 15: Flexer

Final Step: Navigate the final file that you have created and load it in your programmer.Burn it in the Controller and it’s ready to be inserted in the driver card that is connected with your LED / Neon Sign board.

Some Points to note:

• We will provide you with complete schematic diagram and PCB’s if required.

• The main hex file thus created, can be used with LED’s or Neon Lights or any kind of Signage. What changes is the driver card, not the software.

• Depending on the Load, the driver card is to be designed.

Applications

• Neon and LED Sequencing

• Decorative Lighting

• Discotheques

• Backlighting

• Cove Lighting

• Interior and Exterior Lighting

Page 18: Flexer

• We feel that this software is must-have

for anyone related to the Signage /

Lightning Industry.

• We’ve tried our best to explain you the

use of our software. If, however we

missed on certain things, please mail us

at [email protected] and we’ll be

glad to assist you!

• We also hope that you enjoying using it

as much as we enjoyed creating it.
