Was ist Reinhards Flatpicking Fakebook

Reinhards Flatpicking Fakebook ist eine Sammlung vonTraditionals, nmlich Fiddle-Tunes in Noten und Tabulatur. Indieser Notensammlung befinden sich die Versionen dieser

Fiddle-Tunes und Solos fr Gitarre, die ich mir mit der Zeitzurechtgelegt, ausgearbeitet und aufgeschrieben habe.berwiegend handelt es sich um Bluegrass-Standardstcke,von denen die meisten auf Bluegrass-Treffen und Sessionsgespielt werden. Einige dieser Stcke sind nahe an dem, wasman als Grundform bezeichnen knnte, andere sind wiederumschon ziemliche Variationen, die sich mit der Zeit des

Herumprobierens auf dem Griffbrett so ergeben haben. Daher sind wahrscheinlich auchdie Schwierigkeitsgrade recht unterschiedlich, eine Klassifizierung nachSchwierigkeitsgraden habe ich noch nicht durchgefhrt, vielleicht mache ich das noch.

Tatsache ist jedenfalls, da ich einige der von mir selbst ersonnenen Variationen selbstnur recht langsam spielen kann.

Nachdem mir klar wurde, da ich inzwischen eine kleine Sammlung hatte, kam mir imNovember 2010 die Idee, die Noten allgemein zugnglich zu machen. Ich war und bin frohum jeden Tip und Instruktionen, die ich beim Lernen und ben dieser Musik bekommenhabe und bekomme. Warum soll ich dann nicht das weitergeben, was sich im Laufe derZeit auf meinem eigenen Mist ansammelt ? Vielleicht ist es fr jemand ntzlich oderkurzweilig. Falls ja, sollte mich das freuen. Da die Sammlung nicht nur aus Noten undTabulatur, sondern auch und zuerst aus Aufnahmen besteht, also all das vorhanden ist,

was ein Instruktionsbuch heutiger Prgung ausmacht, nmlich einerseits Noten/TAB,andererseits der Tontrger, bin ich noch einen kleinen Schritt darber hinaus gegangenund habe in dieses Buch einfach die Links aufgenommen, ber die man dieTonaufnahmen herunterladen kann.

So weit ich Informationen ber den Ursprung der Stcke finden kann, setze ich sie ineinen Anhang hinein. Auch soll die Sammlung fortgeschrieben werden, so da das, wasjetzt vorliegt, vielleicht nur ein Anfang ist, aus dem mit der Zeit mehr werden kann.

Die Benutzung und Verbreitung zum Selbststudium und sthetischem Genu ist frei.

What is Reinhards Flatpicking Fakebook ?

Reinhard's Flatpicking Fakebook is a collection of traditionals eEfiddle-tunes in notation and tabulature in one PDF file. Thecollection contains versions of these fiddle tunes and breaksbelonging to songs, (both for the guitar) as I have carved them

out for myself, recorded them and wrote them down. Most ofthem are bluegrass standards and will be played on sessionsand bluegrass meetings, I believe. Some of the tunes may beclose to what can be called a basic version, other ones are moreelaborated and embellished variations just like they arose from

"noodeling" along on the fretboard. As a result I am quite sure that the levels of difficultymay vary a lot. I did not implement a grading system so far, maybe I will add somethinglike that in a future edition. As a matter of fact I can play some of my own versions quiteslowly only.

After having recorded some tunes as a means of controlling my playing and my progressand after having done some writing with my notation software I conceived the idea inNovember 2010 to make all of this available to other bluegrass guitarists. As much as Iam happy for every tip and useful suggestion I can get, my stuff might as well be usefulor entertaining for some other player. I would be pleased if this would be the case.

My collection not only comprises notation and tabulature but first of all recordings thusproviding all the media typical for nowaday guitar books: Notation/TAB and theaccompanying recordings. You will find the links to the recordings distributed in thebook itself. The recordings themself are MP3 files hosted on a server.

As far as I can gather some information about the origin of the tunes I am going to putthis information in an appendix at the end of the book. By now there only is a germanversion of the appendix but I am going to translate it as soon as I will have some timeleft for that.

You may use the fakebook for private study or entertainment, may copy it and hold asmany copies as you like, distribute it to others but you must not make any kind ofcommercial use of the Fakebook may it be by selling, leasing, using it as teachingmaterial in commercial or public lessons or any other kind of commercial use, may it be

as a whole or may it concern only parts of the work. Exploitation rights arising fromarranging, notating and tabbing also remain reserved.

Hoedown. I called it Mason Dixon

Showdown to point out the interchangability.

Anhang

The Big Sciotygilt als ein Oldtime Stck, ein sogenannter Breakdown. Als Herkunftwird West Virginia angenommen. Variationen des Stcks sind unter verschiedenen

Titeln (u.a.Kentucky Winder) bekannt geworden. Das Stck taucht in denverschiedenen Kompendien als Old Time Instrumental Music auf, so in FiddlersFakebook (Brody 1983) und Traditional American Fiddle Tunes (Phillips 1978) auf.Aufbau: AABB.

Clinch Mountain Backstep ist ein Oldtime Stck, dessen Banjo-Bearbeitung vonRalph Stanley wohl die bekannteste ist. Der Ursprung liegt im Dunklen. Der Aufbauist AABB. Das Stck weist die Besonderheit auf, da es im B-Teil einen 2/4-Taktenthlt. Ich nehme an, da das der Backstep ist und die hnlichkeiten zumalpenlndischen Zwiefachen fallen einem ein.

Mason Dixon Showdown Dieses Stck ist entstanden, als ich versuchte, DixieHoedown von Jesse McReynolds nach Gehr zu lernen, was mir vermeintlich auchgelang, denn ich konnte zu den Akkorden etwas spielen. Als ich die Melodie flssigspielen konnte und sie sich verfestigt hatte, schrieb ich sie auf. Bei einem spterenVergleich mit verschiedenen Noten von Dixie Hoedown stellte ich fest, da dieMelodie, die sich so manifestiert hatte, zwar zu der Harmonie-Entwicklung von DixieHoedown gespielt werden kann, aber mit dem Stck ansonsten nicht viel zu tun hat.Also habe ich ihm einen eigenen Namen gegeben, der aber an den Namen desStcks erinnert, von dem es abgeleitet ist. Aufbau AABB..

Flowers of Edinburgh Dieses Stck geht auf den Anfang bis zur Mitte des 17.Jahrhunderts zurck. Es soll als Melodie fr Moritatengesnge und Balladen bereitsin den 1630er Jahren in England auftauchen. Irgendwo habe ich gelesen, da man injener Zeit mit Flowers ironisch die Gerche beschrieb, die aus den Gossen undKanlen der damals noch klrwerkfreien Zonen der Stdte aufgestiegen sind, womitdas Stck seines romantischen Charakters beraubt wre. Das tut der zeitlsenSchnheit der Musik aber keinen Abbruch, ganz gleich, welche Sptter 1630 durchEdinburghs Gassen taumelten. Aufbau AABB.

Lonesome Road Blues-

Old Joe ClarkRed Haired Boy Ein Standardstck aller Flatpicker weltweit, knnte man sagen. Essoll aus dem frhen 18. Jahrhundert stammen und aus einem englischen Air mit demTitel Guilderoy abgeleitet sein. Das Stck wird verschiedentlich auch LittleBegarman und Jolly Beggar Man genannt. Aufbau AABB.

Salt Creek-

The Traveller Ein Oldtime Fiddle-Tune, aus New England mit Ursprung inSchottland. Aufbau AABB.

Cherokee Shuffle soll eine von der US-Westkste stammende Version einesOldtime-Instrumentalstcks mit dem Titel Lonesome Indian sein, die aus einerAufnahme des Geigers Tony Magness aus den 30er Jahren abgeleitet sein soll, soeine Aussage des Banjospielsers Howard Bursen, wiedergegeben in CeolasFiddlers Companion. Aufbau AABB.

Gold Rush

Angelina Baker Urheber soll Stephen Foster sein, als Verffentlichungsdatum istdas Jahr 1850 bekannt. Von Stephen Foster kenn man es als Lied mit Text. DerSnger beschreibt, von Angelina Baker verschmht und abgewiesen worden zu sein,wenn man sich den Text aber anhrt, denkt man gleich, da er darber eigentlichfroh sein kann und er ist es wohl auch, wenn man sich die eher frhliche, ja beinaheemphatische Musik dazu anhrt. Das Stck wird allenthalben auch gerne alsInstrumentalstck gespielt und es weist den blichen AABB-Aufbau auf, wobei sichdie musikalische Welt nicht ganz einig ist, welcher Teil A und welcher als B zu

bezeichnen ist. Man kann also durchaus erleben, da irgendwelche Kerle das Stckmit dem Teil anfangen, den man bislang fr Teil B gehalten hat. Oder umgekehrt.

Nine Pound Hammer Traditional, der unter anderem durch Merle Travis bekanntwurde. Das Lied soll bis in das Jahr 1891 zurckverfolgt werden knnen. Weiter solleine Aufnahme der Hillbillies existieren, die aus dem Jahr 1927 stammt. DieThematik des derzeit bekannten Textes ber die Beitrge verschiedenerInterpreten zur Textdichtung besteht keine Klarheit ist die Arbeitswelt: Bergbau.Roll on Buddy, dont you roll so slow How can I roll when the wheels wont go ?

Soldiers Joy Manche sagen, es sei erstmals um 1760 herum in Englandaufgetaucht, manche meinen, darin einen Norwegischen Volkstanz zu erblicken,manche erkennen darin eine dnische Melodie, es soll in Schweden als Volkstanzgespielt werden, wo es Engelska heit, was wieder auf England als Ursprunghindeutet. Nichts genaues wei man nicht, auer, da es dieses Stck schon sehrlange zu geben scheint und da es nicht unterzukriegen ist.
