4. Embellish or Embroider Contrast Fabric of Piece 2 as desired.
5. With RIGHT sides together, sew side seams and bottom seam of contrast piece 2 and solid piece 2 together with ¼” seam allowance. Press seams open and flip right side out.
6. Insert foam piece 4 into the created pocket of piece 2.
7. With RIGHT sides together, sew side seams and bottom seam of contrast piece 1 and solid piece 1 together with ¼” seam allowance. Press seams open and flip right side out.
8. Insert foam piece 3 into the created pocket of piece 1.
9. Fold the top portions of piece 1 in toward the wrong side of the fabric to create a finished edge. Press and topstitch.
10. With RIGHT sides together of piece 5, sew sides and rounded edge together. Press seams open and flip
right side out.
11. Insert foam piece 6 into the created pocket of piece 5.
12. Using a buttonhole foot on your sewing machine, create a button hole, with the center of the buttonhole approximately 1” from the centermost point of the semicircle, or 3” from the top of the piece. Note: You will need to adjust the size of the buttonhole to accommodate the size button you have chosen.
13. With the unfinished edge (top) of piece 2 and the unfinished edge (top) or piece 5, RIGHT sides
together, sew pieces together using an overlock, zigzag or any tight-locking stitch. This will also prevent raveling.
12
14. With RIGHT sides (contrast fabric of piece 2 and solid fabric of piece 1) together, sew piece 1 and 2 together at bottom. Press and flip pieces so that seam is toward the inside and WRONG sides are together.
15. With WRONG sides together (contrast fabric of piece 2 and solid fabric of piece 1 should be showing), line up pieces on sides. Pin together to keep from slipping while sewing. Using an overlock, zigzag or any tight-locking stitch, stitch sides together. Note: Stitches WILL show – they are meant to be decorative. Try a contrasting thread or conceal them with a matching top and bobbin threads to fabric.
16. Attach button to piece 1 in appropriate position.
