THEME - CLIMATE ACTION Earth Day is a day to promote concern for the environment and as celebrated for the first time in the United States on April 22, 1970. This year will mark Earth Day’s 50th anniversary. FUN FACTS July of 1970 the Environmental Protection Agency was established by a special executive order to regulate and enforce national pollution legislation. Earth Day also led to the passage of the Clean Water and Endangered Species Acts. For more information: https://www.earthday.org/earth-day-2020/ Plant a tree. Trees provide food and oxygen. They help save energy, clean the air, and help combat climate change. Conserve water. Utilize less water, shut the faucet off when brushing teeth and run the dishwasher and washing machine with full loads. Bike more. Drive less. Reduce, reuse, and recycle. Cut down on what you throw away. Follow the three "R's" to conserve natural resources and landfill space. Precycle. Planning your shopping ahead of time to buy sustainable products and exactly the amount you need - is a great proactive measure that is easy to incorporate into your shopping habits.
