SIMTRONICS DF-TV7–T  The Simtronics DF-TV7–T is a multi-spectrum infrared

flame detector using three wavelengths. DF-TV7-3IR responds to hydrocarbon fires and is the right choice for operation in dirty environments or for detection of smoky fires.

The MultiFlame DF-TV7–T is designed to respond to unwanted hydrocarbon fires, whilst maintaining a high degree of false alarm immunity. The device offers a wide range of output options, as standard and is suitable for use in SIL 3 applications. The unit may be interfaced directly with a wide range of fire panels, controllers and PLC’s etc.

SIMTRONICS DF-TV7–T 

The unit is fully configurable using a wireless hand-held terminal (TLU) or optionally via HART (R) giving true flexibility to the installer. Time delays, sensitivity and output configuration are all set up via the TLU; a hazardous area approved hand-held unit.

Wireless testing of the optical and output circuits are also possible using the TLU.

TRIPLE IR WORKING PRICIPLE Triple-IR flame detectors compare three specific

wavelength bands within the IR spectral region and their ratio to each other. In this case one sensor looks at the 4.4 micrometer range while the other sensors look at reference wavelengths both above and below 4.4. This allows the detector to distinguish between non-flame IR sources and actual flames which emit hot CO2 in the combustion process. As a result, both detection range and immunity to false alarms can be significantly increased. IR3 detectors can detect a 0.1m2 (1 ft2) gasoline pan fire at up to 65 m (215 ft) in less than 5 seconds. Triple IRs, like other IR detector types, are susceptible to blinding by a layer of water on the detector's window.

The DF-TV7-T is a multi-spectrum flame detector using three individual infrared wavelengths. The use of three different IR bands and a unique signal processing algorithm allows excellent flame detection performances, while offering a very low rate of false alarms.

SENSOR CARTRIDGE

The Detector Can Be Supplied With A "standard range" sensor cartridge covering

most applications A “high sensitivity" sensor cartridge for

special applications where the maximum sensitivity is required.

The sensor cartridge contains the flame detection circuitry. So, It is possible to change the cartridge easily.

Detection Cartridge Cartridges are explosion proof designed. They are common to all Multi Flame line of products in order to reduce spares parts.

The cartridge must not be removed when the detector is

powered.

SENSOR SELF TEST

Optical self-test Function: Sensor Cartridges Have One Or More self-test Optical Lamps Allowing Detection Integrity test. This Is A Full Optical Test Where The Signal From Each Test Lamp is Transmitted Through the Sensor Window and Reflected Back to the detecting Elements Via a Polished stainless Steel reflector.

In Addition To this cyclic self-test, The Test Lamps Can Be Used When A "flame simulation test" is initiated by the Maintenance terminal. Further Testing is not Required To Confirm Correct operation.

Electric Connection Never adjust electric connections when detectors are powered. Maintenance must be undertaken by qualified staff.

Multi Flame DF-TV7 is a sensor with standard current output 4-20mA. The connection can be on 3 or 4 wires. The 4 wires configuration allows insulation between the signal and power loops.

Two independent relays outputs can be connected Directly to a controller or signal device.

The two relays can be configured normally closed or normally open. If normally open, the relays are opened when they are not powered (power loss).

It can be divided into 3 categories1. Information menu [INFO] :The

information menu contains all information concerning the identity and settings of the detector. The first screen gives the detector’s reference and its serial number.

2. Adjustment menu [ADJT] :This menu presents all the detector settings. All the functionalities, except alarms acknowledgment, request access level 2.

3. The maintenance menu [MAIN]: Test sub-menu The maintenance menu handles tests on the detector

PERIODIC MAINTENANCE

It is recommended at least, an annual check.

Visual Inspection Check: Detector positioning to be sure that there are no obstacle between the sensor and the potential source of fire.

Cleaning Optical Parts: Maintenance of flame detectors mainly relates to keeping the optical surfaces clean (window and reflector inside surface). In most installations a periodic cleaning is required. Clean the detector window and the test reflectors, using a soft cloth soaked in a 50/50 mixture of Ethanol and water.

PERIODIC MAINTENANCE Flame Simulation: Initiate a flame test using the

integrated test lamps as described in §6.9.1.1 of operating manual. This can also be achieved using the LT15 test lamp as described in the LT15 operating Manual. Make sure that the detector is set in LT15 test mode as described in §6.9.1.2 of operating manual. This test inhibits the outputs (relays and current loop), so test results are displayed on the TLU, as well as the alarm LED.

Loop Test: To test he full loop there are two options:.

1. Force sensor outputs manually with the TLU as described in §6.9.1.3. of operating manual •

2. An end to end test may also achieved by setting the detector in service mode (§6.9.1.2 of operating manual) And initiate an alarm with the LT15 test lamp.
