1 INTRODUCTION
1.1 WARNING
Usage conditions:
It is IMPERATIVE that all staff who have to work on this machine or maintain it
(commissioning, maintenance, dismantling...) read and follow all the instructions
contained in this notice, as well as those concerning control (electrical and pneumatic
diagrams).
Appropriate technical training and qualifications are essential for those
responsible for maintenance.
The machines are designed following safety standards. It is forbidden to attempt
any manoeuvre or action not established as part of the normal usage of the machine:
going inside the machine without making sure it has completely stopped (see Chapter
3 Safety) or altering a cycle or a cover.
The supply networks for the machines must meet the applicable standards and
be kept in good condition.
Note: the machine's identification plate is on the bottom of the electrical box.

1.2 GENERAL POINTS
The FL SERIES of folding machines has been specially designed for the fast, accurate
folding of articles such as:
Small items: cloths, pillowcases, mats.
Large items: sheets, mattress covers, tablecloths, surgical sheets, fitted sheets.
The machine integrates the latest technological advances in programmable, pneumatic
and mechanical automatons.
Simple, compact FL folding machines require minimal adjustment and maintenance
operations.
Their programmable automatons make it possible to select or create a folding program
and to display the origin of a problem encountered.
This machine is intended to fold only pieces of linen material in good condition.
- FL-SMART capacity 500 to 3600mm.
- FL-KING capacity 500 to 4000mm.
Any other use is strongly discouraged and will under no circumstances be considered
normal usage of the machine.
The manufacturer accepts no responsibility for injury or damage resulting from use
other than the normal use for which the machine is intended or under conditions that do
not follow all technical instructions.
1.3 SAFETY INDICATION

1.5 TECHNICAL FEATURES
The technical features of the FL SERIES vary depending on the options ordered.
Several folds can be made, depending on the model:
1, 2, or 3 primary folds in 1, 2 or 4 lanes using an air jet (the item comes out with
the corners inside),
1, 2, or 3 primary folds in 1 to 2 lanes using mechanical blade (the item comes out with
the corners inside).
The items are measured on the folding machine feeder conveyor:
- A roller in contact with the linen turns and drives an optical pulse generator (OPG),
- A cell triggers the start and end of impulse counting.
This makes this measurement regardless of the speed of the ironer, allowing very accurate
folding

2 HANDLING INSTALLATION
The machine must only be handled by qualified personnel.
During handling no one must place themselves below a load.
2.1 HANDLING
Check that the lifting slings allow the weight of the machine to be lifted.
TAKE CARE not to damage the covers.
FL0610A 28
2.2 PUTTING THE MACHINE IN POSITION
Preparation and positioning FL series folding machines: see following pages.
The floor must be horizontal and capable of bearing the weight of the machine.
Note: Carry out these operations strictly in order.
- Screw up the four adjustment jacks so that the machine rests on its four transport
wheels.
29 FL0610A
If the machine has been sent in plastic film, carry out the following operations:
- Raise the primary fold discharge table.
- Slightly loosen the screw and pivot the table.
- Add the bottom screw, allowing the table to remain horizontal.
FL0610A 30
- Raise the feeder conveyor (Feeder)
Go to stage 8
If the machine has been sent in a wooden crate, carry out the following operations:
1 Machine folded up
2 Turn the OPG
31 FL0610A
3 Pivot the service bridge assembly
4 Loosen the screw slightly
FL0610A 32
5 Make it pivot
6 Replace the fixing screw
7 Dismantle the flap so you can adjust the service bridge horizontally
33 FL0610A
8Raise the feeder.
FL0610A 34
- Place the folding machine in the best possible position behind the ironer.
The folding machine and the ironer must be perfectly aligned.
The folding machine's roller must be level and parallel with the ironer bed discharge.
- Unscrew the four adjustment jacks enough to lift the four transport wheels off the
ground (resting on the folding machine).
The machine is levelled by loosening these four adjustment jacks to the correct degree.
35 FL0610A
CHECKING AND LEVELLING
1 Check that the 2 lower crossbeams are level.
2 Check that the folding machine's 2 cabinets are level.
3 Check the positioning of the feeder roller with respect to the ironer bed and make
sure it is level.
4 Make sure the service bridge is level.
Once the cylinders have been adjusted, lock them with their lock nuts.
FL0610A 36
CONNECTION TO SUPPLIES:
Connection to the air supply
The machine is equipped with an air treatment unit:
Filter/Regulator, see chapter 5 Maintenance operations.
The customer must provide the air supply to the machine's on/off valve.
This air must be dry and dust-free.
Pipes of minimum diameter 15/ 21 (1/2 inch) must be used to supply the machine.
In the course of operation, the air supply must provide a constant pressure of at least
6 bars to obtain proper regulation and prevent malfunction due to drops in pressure.
If the air supply is above the machine supply point, provide the proper connector, as
indicated below.
Note: Failure to comply with these conditions will lead to the equipment
malfunctioning.
37 FL0610A
Connection to the power supply:
The electrical installation of the machine must be carried out by qualified, authorised staff .
- Make sure that the power supply is correct and that the power of your installation is
sufficient before connecting the machine.
The power cable must be protected at the head of the line.
* 4 mm² section at 230V.
* 2.5 mm² section at 400V.
* 3 phase cable + earth.
- Connection with a 4-conductor cable.
L1 Phase 1
L2 Phase 2
L3 Phase 3
PE Earth connection
/GND
All the electrical connections to the preceding machine must be made according to
current regulations.
For details, see the machine(s)' electrical diagram.
Note: Failure to stick to these conditions can lead to damage to the electrical and
mechanical elements when it is started up.
Setting after positioning:
- Check the electrical voltage and the direction the motor turns.
Settings are made using the touch screen, see the Automation section.
Test:
Tests on the machine must be carried out by qualified, authorised staff.
When the installation is operational, supervisory and maintenance staff must be trained

When there is an emergency stop, all movements are stopped.
The machine must be started up again by the operator responsible. He/she will press the reset button after making sure there is no further danger.
Resetting is authorised if and only if:
- No emergency stop button is activated,
- All grille sensors are activated,
- All thermal protectors are engaged,
- The ironer safety sensor is engaged.
3.2 STOPPING THE MACHINE
Set the selector to OFF.
Padlock not provided
- Close the air intake valve and padlock it.
Padlock not provided
39 FL0610A
3.3 INTERVENTION DURING OPERATION
It is strictly forbidden to intervene during operation.
Before intervening and after the machine has completely stopped, it is essential to:
- Set the main switch to OFF and padlock it
Padlock not provided
- Close the air intake valve and padlock it.
Padlock not providedWhen various movable covers on the machine are opened, it stops. The machine
can only be switched on again once these covers are back in place. It is therefore
necessary to make frequent checks that these protective devices are working
properly.
NEVER REMOVE OR TRY TO ALTER SAFETY ELEMENTS
If any intervention requires the dismantling of a fixed guard (for example, cover, bolt-
on grilles, etc...) the machine's main switch must be padlocked and its air intake valve
must be closed.
Before it is switched on again, checks must be made that all covers have been
reassembled and that the keys of electrical cabinets have been removed.
When the machine is equipped with a service bridge, the access ladder must be
removed after any intervention.
Access to the access ladder is reserved strictly to trained machine operating and
maintenance staff.

4. PRINCIPLE AND OPERATION
4.1 PRINCIPLE
Never try to pick up an item that is jammed in the machine.
The FL SERIES can deal with large or small items equally well.
- The item arrives from the ironer.
- It is received on a conveyor called a "feeder".
- The item is measured.
- Primary folding is carried out: 1, 2 or 3 folds.
- The piece arrives on a conveyor, called the "upper cross conveyor"
- The piece arrives in position for the 1st cross fold, the conveyor stops.

55 FL0610A
5.2 Air filter/regulator maintenance
GENERAL USAGE CONDITIONS:
Control fluid : Air I.S.O.8573, minimum class 3.5.3.
Ambient temperature : -20°C to 50°C
Maximum supply pressure : 10 bars.
FILTER AND REGULATOR-FILTER equipped with a safety device preventing
dismantling under pressure.
Assembly Dismantling
Clean the tank with soapy water only.
Filter cartridge:
Clean the filter cartridge at least once a year with soapy water.
With each cleaning, the cartridge loses around 15% of its effectiveness. Plan its replacement based on this. Ref:
Automatic bleeding
This system allows the automatic removal of condensation and fine particles
recovered from the tank. It is advisable to clean this bleeding system every time
filter cartridge maintenance is carried out.
Operating principle:
When the liquids reach a certain level, they raise the float (B), which
opens the "pilot valve" (C). This allows pressure on the piston (D) which,
when lowered, leads to the opening of the bleed valve (E).
The liquids are then pushed out by the action of the compressed air.
REGULATOR :
Pressure is always set starting with a low pressure and going higher.
The setting button is easy to lock: ‘Push - Pull‘’
To move from 6 bars to 4 bars:
proceed as indicated.
FL0610A 56
A key locking system is possible using a padlockable cap.
PADLOCKABLE VALVE:
When carrying out manual actions on the machine, always lock the
valve with at least one padlock so that no-one can turn the
pressure on during a manual action.
CLOG-FREE SILENCER
For safety reasons, never replace the clog-free silencer with a device using a
technology that means it could clog up.
57 FL0610A
