The Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art opened A Century of Magic: The Animation of the Walt Disney Studios, Animation Cels from the Collection of Janis Scaramucci and Domer “Jay” Scaramucci March 3. A Century of Magic surveys many of the major animated films, beginning with the first feature, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937), and concluding with Fantasia/2000 (1999). The Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art opened A Century of Magic: The Animation of the Walt Disney Studios, Animation Cels from the Collection of Janis Scaramucci and Domer “Jay” Scaramucci March 3. At 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 10, the museum will show the classic 1961 film, One Hundred and One Dalmatians. When a litter of Dalmatian puppies are

abducted by the minions of Cruella De Vil, the parents must find them before she uses them for a diabolical fashion statement. Seating is limited, and children must be accompanied by an adult. This will be the first of four monthly Saturday morning Disney films shown at the museum, including Robin Hood on April 14, Beauty and the Beast on May 19 and The Lion King on June 9. “We are happy to share not only this wonderful collection of Disney artwork, but also many films and other fun and educational programming to the community,” said Ghislain d’Humières, director of the Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art. “We hope the community will join us and continue celebrating the magic of Walt Disney and his amazing contribution to humanity.” The weekend continues Sunday, March 11, with a Family Day at the museum. From 1 to 4 p.m., the museum offers free admission with hands-on art activities for all ages. The theme for the afternoon focuses on the art and animation from the Walt Disney Studios in conjunction with the new exhibition. Additionally, the museum will offer a gallery talk and walking tour of A Century of Magic at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 13, with art collector Janis Scaramucci. For more than 20 years, the Norman resident has been collecting cels from 60 years of animated Disney films. The Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art is located in the OU Arts District on the corner of Elm Avenue and Boyd Street, at 555 Elm Ave., on the OU Norman campus. Unless otherwise noted, admission to the museum is free to all OU students with a current student ID and all museum association members, $5 for adults, $4 for seniors, $3 for children 6 to 17 years of age, $2 for OU faculty/staff, and free for children 5 and under.
