Talbot Mini Repair Clamps for Rigid Pipes - See Page 5

Talbot Mini Repair Clamps can be used on small rigid pipes from 15mm to 80mm (0.6”to 2.1”) that have split, have pin holes or have developed porosity in a localised area. Thefitting can be used either as a long term, permanent repair solution or as an emergencysolution whilst a permanent repair is arranged. The Talbot Mini Repair Clamp can alsobe used on PE pipe as a temporary repair but is not suitable as a long term solution.

The UPE Universal, Engineered and MultiDiameter rangeof couplings and flange adaptors can be used for almostany plane-ended rigid pipe material from 32mm to2,200mm pipe nominals. This range and the Universaland MultiDiameter’s wide fitment tolerance combine withthe quality of manufacture and coating process to makethe UPE range of mains couplings and flange adaptors aversatile and economical product to use.

For PE pipe there is a range of Type 2, fully end load resistant fittings. These SuperLok SL PE fittings are available in a range of couplings, flange adaptors andtransition couplings to suit PE pipe of both SDR11 andSDR 17.6 PE pipe in sizes from 63mm through to 180mm

To compliment these couplings and flange adaptors UPEcan offer an extensive range of flange bolt sets that canbe tailored to suit the exact needs of customers. UPE offercomplete flange gasket sets consisting of a gasket andthe appropriate number of fasteners for the size of flange.These sets are supplied bagged and clearly labelledenabling the correct gasket with the correct size andnumber of bolts, nuts and washers to be selected everytime a connection is to be made.

Talbot Pushfit - Fittings for Water Pipe

Metric to Imperial - An Easy Conversion

The Talbot Pushfit connection is a tried and testedmethod of connecting low, medium and high densitypolyethylene water pipe from 16mm to 180mm and theirimperial equivalents. The Talbot Pushfit fitting can also be used on lead pipe insizes 1/2" 7lb, 3/4" 9lb and 1" 16lb.

Using a common body and only 2 sets of inter-changeablecomponents, any Talbot Pushfit fitting will connect tometric PE pipes and their imperial equivalents, or a combination of both. The two sets of internal components are clearly identifiable and are quickly andeasily changed. An added benefit with the Talbot Pushfitconnection is that because the fitting seals on the out-side of the pipe, only one set of components is needed to connect onto most of the imperial pipes available and inthe ground today.Alternatively the new, ready to use, Talbot Pushfit Imperialto Metric fitting is available (see page 5). Adapting from existing Imperial to Metric PE pipe could not be easier.

Talbot Pushfit Imperial to Metric Fittings

It has always been possible to convert a standard Talbot Pushfit fitting quickly and easily into a connection suited to imperial pipe or a combination of imperial or metric

pipe by simply changing the internal components.

Now Talbot have made this process even easier by introducing a new range of fittings that are supplied withthe components already set up to take both types of pipeas shown to the left.

This new range of fittings is designed to cope with themajority of situations that may arise and consists of equaland reduced connectors. All you have to do is fit it andforget it!

But remember, if the product you need is not available inthe conversion range then all you have to do is select thefitting type you need and, using the imperial componentsthat are available separately, convert the fitting yourself.It’s easy to do and full instructions can be found on page30 of this guide.

Mini Stainless Steel Repair Clamps

The range of Stainless Steel Repair Clamps offer a quickand easy way to repair broken or damaged rigid pipeswithout the need to shut down the main.

Mini Repair Clamps can be used on small pipes from15mm to 64mm (0.6" to 2.5") that have split, have pinholes or have developed porosity in a localised area. Set out below are the assembly instructions for the universal end of the Grippa fitting. For instructions on how to assemble the Pushfit end of the connection please refer to the Pushfitassembly instructions shown above.

User experience indicates that Pushfit fittings cope better with adverse site conditions than compression fittings. However if a connection failure occurs please check that:� The pipe has been pushed fully home. � The ‘O’ ring or the grip ring are not damaged.�Correct components have been used. � Pipe is not excessively scored at the sealing area.

1. Cut the pipe square andensure it is clean, roundand within tolerance.Scrape off any loosepaint or deep scratches.

2. Push the universal end ofthe fitting onto the pipe,PAST the first point ofresistance and UP TO thesecond.

4. Tighten with aspanner or wrencha further 11/2

turns.

3. Hand tighten thenut on the PE end.

1a. For metric Britishstandard pipe only,push the correct linerfully into the pipe.

1b. For imperial BS, DINand ISO pipe only.Bevel the pipe.No liner is required.

2. Push the pipe fullyinto the fitting witha slight twist.

1. Slide extractors homeand withdraw the pipe.

Note: When using the Talbot Pushfit connection with HDPE pipe it is recommended that the surface of thepipe around the sealing area is roughened slightly with a fine emery paper.

After insertion of the pipe,with the components at rest,the ‘O’ ring provides thewater seal and the grip ring isready to resist any pull out.

Water pressure forces the ‘O’ring against the grip ringpushing both componentsdown the taper of the fittingso creating an excellent pressure seal on the pipe.

As the water pressure rises,the ‘O’ ring is forced furtherdown the tapered bodytowards the grip ring, increas-ing the sealing pressureagainst the pipe and body.

In negative pressure condi-tions the ‘O’ ring remains in itsoriginal seating position andprovides an effective vacuumseal.

2. Insert the Leadfit ‘O’ ring, pushing ithome onto its seat, then insert theLeadfit grip ring by forming a figure ‘6’and pressing it into the fitting

The lead pipe to be connected should be free from excessive scoring or scratches and should beround at the sealing area. The end of the pipe should also be bevelled slightly to assist insertioninto the fitting.

Talbot Leadfit components must be used in the appropriately sized Talbot Pushfit fitting bodies.The PE components already in the Pushfit fitting are easily removed and the replacement Leadfit‘O’ and grip rings can then be quickly and easily inserted.

Leadfit is a dedicated size connector and is designed towork on specific sizes of leadpipe. Leadfit does not have the tolerance of the Talbot GrippaUniversal Service Adaptor.

Make sure that the Talbot Leadfitfitting is used only on pipes of thecorrect size.

� 1/2” 7lb lead (23.47mm OD)using 25mm Pushfit bodies
