First off, it looks like Stewie has something to say...
It’s time for the international news report. It has been reported that the New
Zealand’s fitness industry turns over more than $250 million per annum. Quite a
substantial amount for such a small country. Now to you
Rita.
Thanks Joe. The fitness industry is one of the largest leading industries in New Zealand, and the number of gym members are increasing at an estimated 5 to 10 percent per year. New Zealand currently has the seventh highest population of gym membership owners in the world.
January!!!
Grrr...Gym membership signups...grrr...In
January...grrr...has a ten percent higher rate of
increase...grrr...than any other month...grrr...
I’m quite lazy at the moment...so heres the

Hey Lois, I had a little incident with Heath
Ledger the other day...and he called me a fat lard. Am I really that fat? It says in this newspaper
that obesity is one of the biggest issues in New Zealand. Those guys
spend up to $303 million a year on obesity related
diseases...jeez...looks like the U.S ain’t the only ones
eh?
Aww Peter, honey...You’re fine the way you are...and did you try to get Heath’s
autograph while he was in the shower? Aww
Peter not again...remember what
happened when you tried to get George
Michael’s autograph?
I’ll show em’! New Zealand may have the seventh highest rate of obesity in the world, but I know I’m doing my country a favour by getting active...and football is the way to do it!
You imbecile!!! You’re running

I must admit, these new gym programs for children are amazing.
Haha, at least I’m not one of the 8.3 percent of obese kids in New
Zealand. Now that would be a problem wouldn’t it?
God, I look stunning in underwear.

Well Brian, it just so happens they have. Now that parents are worrying
about their children developing obesity, these gyms are establishing a new clientele. It’s heading towards a global trend. Even Club Physical in New Zealand has 69 children under 14 already signed up. See Brian...I
did my research for once.
We are back with more international news. It appears that large New
Zealand companies such as Telecom and Comvita are offering wellness programs to its staff to keep them
more active and healthy in the work place. I just wish our bloody
company would care just as much as those New Zealand companies do.
Now to you Rita.
Thanks Joe. Telecom has already launched a program called ‘Balance’ that includes a gym membership package at all YMCA centres in
the city of Auckland. The programs are proving to be effective, as the majority of Telecom’s employess continue to attend
even after the program package expired. On-site gyms are also being incorporated into companies such as Mercury energy, which
indicates that the fitness industry is expanding in different ways.
So what have you learned from our little journey with Peter? (and a bitta Stewie)...
Well, We know from the 2 news reporters that the fitness industry is successful, turning over $250 million a year.
After Peter’s little awkward scenario, we find out that $303 million is spent on obesity alone. Not to mention NZ having the seventh highest rate of obesity in the world.
Stewie boasted that his over-bulked body was because of gyms targeting children as new members both in America and NZ.
In general, wellness programs are a good thing.
If you were looking to expand your gym franchise to New Zealand, would you do it??? Well................
I RECOMMEND THAT YOU DO!!!
Industry turnover of $250 million a year? Obesity crisis in need of help? More children being targetted as new members? More working class New Zealanders getting fit because of wellness programs? YOU MUST BE CRAZY NOT TO CONSIDER THESE FACTORS!!!
There is plenty of opportunity to open a new gym franchise here...all you gotta do is....DO IT!!! PLAN, SETTLE, ADVERTISE ATTRACT!!!
IT’S YOUR CALL!!! DO IT AND DO IT FAST!!!
