First Year Honors Students! Before you register for classes:

Make (and keep!) an appointment to meet with either Glenn or Tim.

Make (and keep!) an appointment with your MAJOR advisor.

Be sure that MAJOR advisor ACTIVATES you (removes advising “hold”). Register for Fall 2003!

Please meet with same Honors Advisor you met with in Fall 2002!

Continuing Honors Students(Students who have completed first year Honors sequence)

• Update your local address

• May meet with Glenn or Tim during OPEN Advising hours ONLY:

Consult Honors Advising Newsletter (sent to all Honors students’ local

addresses in January and available on line). Also available tonight at

front table.

NEW LOUIE SYSTEM• Become familiar with the NEW LOUIE system NOW—don’t wait until the

day of registration to start using the system—it is quite different!

• NEW LOUIE website Q&A at www4.nau.edu/pmo (This site provides answers to questions primarily as they relate to the data conversion process—I’d recommend going through WEBCT for information instead).

• Probably most helpful will be how to find classes on-line. Go to “TIPS” within webct at webct.nau.edu, login and then select “Start Here” then “what is LOUIE.”

• Scroll to the bottom to find the “new LOUIE tutorials”. These tutorials will provide you with screen shots of what you will see when searching for courses.

• I found the “View Schedule of Classes,” “Enroll in Classes” and “Holds” tutorials VERY USEFUL. Actually, I’d HIGHLY recommend you review each of these tutorials as they are quite helpful.

• Be sure to consult with [email protected] for any questions!

Honors Early Registration Policies: Spring 2003 (cont.)• Honors sections are only available to

Honors students—all others WILL BE DROPPED

• Honors reserved seats in select 100- and 200-level honors courses for incoming students. Should these sections not fill after Previews, Honors will contact students on waiting lists.

Honors Early Registration Policies: Spring 2003 (cont.)• Students in good standing OR on first semester

probation with Honors may register 3/25. All other Honors students will register with assigned groups.

• Honors students on second semester probation or with a GPA below 2.75 may not receive the Honors Early Registration privilege.

• Should an Honors course fill during early registration, a waiting list will be initiated in the Honors Program Office.

Honors Course Waiting List Policies

• Section full overrides are HIGHLY discouraged for Honors courses. Please do not harass faculty.

• Enrollment in FULL Honors courses will be prioritized by Academic level—Seniors, then Juniors, then Sophomores, then Freshmen. Academic level is determined by TOTAL credits earned to date (including all earned NAU credits, transferred credits, and credits earned by exam). Earned credits do not include Spring 2003 credits.

Honors Course Waiting List Policies (continued)

• Course enrollments will ONLY be prioritized until Friday, April 4, at which point waiting lists will be frozen. Names can be added to these lists, but will not be prioritized into Honors courses after this date.

• Should a seat be made or become available in any full Honors course, you will be notified by email about how to claim and/or register for the available seat.
