1 Introduction This report was prepared to satisfy 2007 assessment requirements on the Grand Lake Property. It describes fieldwork conducted by personnel from Ucore Uranium Inc. and completed prior to the end of the December 16, 2007 assessment year. Alexander Stares staked the Grand Lake Property on October 17, 2006 to cover known uranium mineralization in beds of the Rocky Brook Formation of the Deer Lake Group, within the Deer Lake Basin. Ucore Uranium has funded all of the exploration work in this assessment report. 2 Location and Accessibility The Grand Lake uranium exploration property consists of 9 contiguous mineral exploration claims held under 1 exploration license issued to Alexander Stares, and is under option by Ucore Uranium Inc (Table 2.1) under the Mineral Act of Newfoundland and Labrador. The property is located on the west coast of the island portion of the province, approximately 12.5 kilometers southeast of the community of Pasadena and within the 12A/14 National Topographic System map area (Figures 2.1, 2.2). Access to the property can be accomplished by pick-up truck along well maintained logging roads as well as by boat to view costal outcrop. Topographic relief within the property is high. Outcrop exposure on the property overall is low (less than 15%), with the majority of exposures inland from the lake being the result of streams, and logging roads. However coastal areas on the eastern side of the property provide nearly 100% of outcrop exposure. Table 2.1: List of mineral exploration licenses.

3 Previous Work

3.1 Northgate Exploration – 1979 Northgate Exploration acquired the rights to Reid Lot 220 on the northwest shore of Grand Lake, in response to the discovery of uranium mineralization in the Deer Lake Basin by Westfield Ltd, in 1978 (Rizzuto and Parker, 1980). Northgate carried out a geochemical survey that included most of the streams, creeks and rivers cutting the area. Analytical results were poor, and the distance between adjacent sampling sites resulted in no contouring of the data (Rizzuto and Parker, 1980). A radiometric survey was also conducted using Scintrex BGS-4 and Exploranium GR101-A total count scintillometers along logging roads and during the stream sediment sampling survey. Results from roadwork were uniform, due to the presence of thick overburden (up to 20m thick in places)(Rizzuto and Parker, 1980).

3.2 Westfield Minerals Limited Westfield Minerals Limited entered in to a Joint Venutre partnership with Northgate Exploration and Shell Canada Resources Limited whereby all mineral rights held by the companies in western Newfoundland were pooled. The mineral rights to Reid Lot 220 were relinquished due to lack of encouraging results (Tuach, 1980). Work on Reid Lot 220 was limited to a one-day site visit with government geologist R. S. Hyde, to examine a small zinc occurrence on the property.

3.3 Department of Mines and Energy, Newfoundland and Labrador 1979-1981: R.S., Hyde conducted geological mapping at a scale of 1:50,000 across the

Deer Lake Basin 1990: Davenport et al., conducted a regional geochemical lake sediment survey in the

Red Indian lake map area, 12A. Map 90-76 presents uranium values. 4 Geology

4.1 Regional Geology The Grand Lake Property is situated in Deer Lake Basin, a 4000 km2, northeasterly – southwesterly trending intermontane graben located in western Newfoundland. Uranium mineralization is confined to non-marine sedimentary rocks of Carboniferous age, that can be subdivided in to four stratigraphic units: Anguille Group, Wetstone Point and Wigwam Brook formations, Deer Lake Group and the Howley Formation (Hyde S., 1985).

Page 12: First Year Assessment Report 2007gis.geosurv.gov.nl.ca/geofilePDFS/ReceivedBatch44/012A...GR101-A total count scintillometers along logging roads and during the stream sediment sampling

5

The Deer Lake Group unconformably overlies the Anguille Group in the central part of the basin. Near the flanks of the basin, the Deer Lake group unconformably overlies a mixed assemblage of pre-Carboniferous volcanic, plutonic and metasedimentary basement rocks (Hyde S., 1985). The Deer Lake Group is host to the most significant uranium mineralization in the basin and is subdivided into four formations: the North Brook, Rocky Brook, Humber Falls, and Little Pond Book formations (Howley Beds)(Hyde S., 1985). The North Brook Formation represents a fluvial and alluvial fan deposit up to 2000m thick and is the basal formation of the Deer Lake Group. It is composed of red to grey sandstones, siltstones and conglomerates. The Rocky Brook Formation conformably overlies the North Brook Formation and represents a mixed lacustrine-fluvial deposit with an average thickness between 500 and 600m, and a maximum thickness of 1000m. The Rocky Brook Formation is further subdivided in to a lower and an upper member. The lower member is composed of red calcareous siltstones, grey to green mudstones and siltstones and carbonate rocks. In contrast, the upper member lacks any red strata and is composed mainly of grey, green and black mudstone and grey to green siltstone as well as carbonate rocks (Hyde S., 1985). The Humber Falls Formation is thought to disconformably overlie the Rocky Brook Formation, and represents a return to an alluvial and predominantly fluvial depositional environment. The formation has a maximum thickness of 250m consisting of light grey and light green, fine to very coarse grained sandstones, pebble conglomerates and red to grey siltstones and mudstones (Hyde S., 1985). The Little Pond Brook Formation conformably overlies the Humber Falls Formation, and represents a continuation of fluvial deposition. The formation has a maximum thickness of 3100m, subdivided in to upper and lower members based on the presence of a poorly defined (upper) and a well-defined (lower) fining upward sequence. The upper member is composed of a variety of rock types ranging from red pebble conglomerate to grey medium to coarse grained sandstone, red, grey and green siltstones and mudstones. The lower member is composed of a well-defined fining upwards sequence of grey and red-grey, sandstone and pebble conglomerate to red fine-grained sandstone and siltstone (Hyde S., 1985).

4.2 Property Geology The geology underlying the Grand Lake Property consists of rocks from the Deer Lake Group. Outcrop exposures along the lakeshore reveal an intercalated sequence of red with minor grey pebble to cobble conglomerate and red-brown and reddish-grey medium to very coarse-grained sandstone, with minor siltstone. This intercalated sequence is consistent with the North Brook Formation and is gradational in to the Rocky Brook Formation, which underlies the eastern – northeastern areas of the property. The Rocky Brook Formation in this area of the property consists of intercalated calcareous, red and grey siltstone, green and grey mudstone, and minor red and grey medium to fine grained sandstone and carbonate beds. Both the North Brook and Rocky Brook formations underlying the Grand Lake Property are steeply dipping, with dips between 60 ο - 88 ο and trend to the northeast-southwest.

5 Work Completed From June 02 – June 05, 2007, regional ground radiometric prospecting was conducted on License No. 012696M of the Grand Lake Property. SAIC Exploranium GR-110 G scintillometers were used on all ground traverses. GPS was used to control the locations of scintillometer recordings and sample locations. Prospecting was directed around areas with a high probability of outcrop exposure as well as in the area of known MODS (Mineral Occurrence Data System) showings. 6 Results A total of 17 samples were collected (Figure 6.1) and sent to Accurassay for sample preparation before being sent to Actlabs for Delayed Neutron Count, and Ultra Trace 4 ICP-MS analysis. Table 6.1 lists the uranium assay values for all samples. For the complete geochemical results, see Appendix D Table 6.1: Uranium Assay Results

dark grey-green to black, weakly calcareous, mudstone-siltstone-shale. The anomalous samples are confined to thin (5cm – 10 cm) beds within the dark grey-green to black fine-grained siltstone layers. Sample 171470 was collected near a waterfall where Island Pond Brook, empties in to Grand Lake. This sample returned an assay value of 623 ppm, the highest value returned during prospecting activities. The sample was collected from a 3-5 cm wide, medium to dark grey-green calcareous siltstone bed (Plate 6.1). The bed is situated in a 25-50m wide sequence of intercalated grey-green to grey-black calcareous and non-calcareous mudstone and siltstone that has elevated total counts.

Plate 6.1: Location of Sample 171470 from near vertically dipping, intercalated calcareous siltstone and mudstone beds of the Rocky Brook Formation. 7 Conclusion and Recommendations Significant uranium concentrations were recovered from 4 of the 17 samples that were submitted for analysis. However all of the samples were recovered from steeply dipping or near vertical thin calcareous siltstone-mudstone beds. Due to the uniform nature of the geology in the area is it unlikely that the beds thicken or that the grade of uranium will increase at depth or along strike. Lack of outcrop exposure in the area, limits any further exploration to geochemical surveys such as radon gas or track etch. Due to the style of mineralization hosted in thin (5-10cm) calcareous siltstone beds, as well as the lack of outcrop exposure in the area, it is recommended that Ucore Uranium Inc allow the option for the license to revert back to Alexander Stares. And that no further monies or exploration be conducted on the property on behalf of Ucore Uranium Inc.
