ChurchIn an effort to connect with more families in our community, we will be trying VBS in the evening this year. Our dates are still the same
July 20-24, but the time is now 5:30p-8:30pm. This has changed some things as far as planning purposes. We will need to feed these children, and it would be a huge blessing if we had enough to feed the staff since many will be coming straight from work. We are asking for your help in collecting the food items we will need for VBS. A table is set up in the foyer with lists of items needed for VBS sign your name beside the items you are providing. Place items on the counter in the church's kitchen or in the freezer.

National Southern Baptist Convention Report:Brad and I had the privilege of representing our church at the National Southern Baptist Convention in Columbus, OH, June 16-17. I wanted to share with you why, in my opinion, this was the best convention I have attended, for three reasons. First, the focus of the convention was a prayer service on the night of June 16, where we spent over two hours lifting up ourselves, our churches, and our nation to God. We confessed sin, repented over sin, praised God, and asked him to intervene on our behalf. Second, there was a strong emphasis throughout the convention on racial reconciliation, an important emphasis especially in light of our convention’s past. Third, the commissioning service on the morning of June 17 was also particularly impactful. Both of our mission boards (NAMB and the IMB), to which we give a big chunk of our offerings every week, are doing some amazing things for God. The gospel is going forth and lives are being changed. We also conducted business, passed resolutions, attended panels, listened to sermons, and talked with people about how we can do ministry better. Please continue to pray for our convention, our mission boards, our seminaries, and all the ministries we get to participate in as a Southern Baptist Church.
