Words of Welcome/Announcements: Pastor Heidi Reinker

Prelude Organist/pianist Jeff Burke Call to Worship: Psalm 27 selected verses 1, 7-14

Leader: The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? People: The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? Leader: Hear, O Lord, when I cry aloud, be gracious to me and answer me! People: "Come," my heart said, "seek the Lord's face." Your face, O Lord, I seek. Leader: Hide not your face from me. Turn not your servant away in anger, for you have been my help. People: Cast me not off, forsake me not, O God of my salvation! If my father and mother should forsake me, the Lord would take me up. Leader: Teach me your way, O Lord; and lead me on a level path because of my enemies. People: Give me not up to the will of my adversaries; for false witnesses have risen against me, and they breathe out violence. Leader: I believe that I shall see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living! All: Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage. Wait for the Lord!

*Opening Hymn "Jesus Shall Reign" # 157

Opening Prayer: Prayer of John Chrysostom # 412 Almighty God, you have given us grace at this time with one accord to make our common supplication to you; and you have promised through your well-beloved Son that when two or three are gathered together in his name, you will be in the midst of them. Fulfill now, O Lord, our desires and petitions as may be best for us; granting us in this world knowledge of your truth, and in the age to come life everlasting. Amen.

The Affirmation of Faith from I Timothy # 889

Gospel Lesson: Luke 13:31-35

Words of Reflection

"O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing!" Luke 13: 34 NIV

*Prayers of the People

What joys or concerns do you want to take to God in prayer?

Do you have a story to share as to how God has worked in your life recently?

Pastoral Prayer leading into the Lord’s Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done

on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses,

as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

Epistle Lesson- Philippians 3: 17-4:1 *Hymn “Softly and Tenderly Jesus Is Calling” # 348 Sermon Rev. Heidi Reinker *Hymn "I Am Thine, O Lord” # 419 Presentation of our Tithes and Offerings Offering Prayer Offertory Music *Doxology Praise God, from whom all blessings flow, # 95

Praise him, all creatures here below;

Praise him above, ye heavenly host;

Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen

*Benediction It is our tradition to form a circle around the perimeter of the church after the benediction to sing “Peace on Earth” while holding hands. If you are uncomfortable with this,

you may proceed directly to the fellowship hall for refreshments!

Closing Hymn “Let There Be Peace on Earth” # 431

Let there be peace on earth, and let it begin with me;

Let there be peace on earth, the peace that was meant to be.

With God our Creator, children all are we.

Let us walk with each other in perfect harmony.

Let peace begin with me; let this be the moment now.

With every step I take, let this be my solemn vow:

To take each moment and live each moment in peace eternally.

Let there be peace on earth, and let it begin with me.

*Postlude

Everyone is invited to the fellowship hall for refreshments and a time of fellowship.
