3 Thin Places Abound The Irish have an interesting concept regarding the actions of God among us. They describe the presence of God when there is a miracle or an unexplained event that occurs in our everyday life by saying that there has been a “thin place” between heaven and earth. We often think of God as being in heaven, far away from us. But when something wonderful happens, a cure, a reunion of old friends, or reconciliation between two enemies: God comes near and there is a “thin place” where heaven meets earth. The Old Testament teems with examples of thin places. God deals directly with people in the Garden of Eden and with Abraham; God works wonders in Egypt, in the desert of Sinai, and speaks through the prophets, deals with Job … The greatest instance of this phenomenon is, of course, the Incarnation. The eternal Word of God became flesh in the person of Jesus in a certain place at a certain time in human history. Advent is the annual period of four weeks in which we look forward to and prepare for the coming of God to us, in human flesh, to bring us in touch with the Kingdom of God’s mercy, God’s life and God’s joy. Bethlehem was that thin place where God came close; Golgotha was that thin place where God’s purpose was achieved in coming close; the human heart is the thin place where God wants to be close; and the Church is that thin place where the resurrected Christ meets his people, feeds them with his Word and sustains them with his Body and Blood. I invite you to look for God in your life this Advent, to discover the many thin places where divinity and humanity meet. Your life teems with them. Monsignor David LeSieur

Mrs. Allison Clark brought her Scout Troop of Daisies to the pantry for a Service Project. These wonderful girls are kindergarteners and in they came with Mrs. Clark and there Mom's. Our project was to make candy bags to Put in our Thanksgiving Gift Boxes all 70 of them. What a joy with smiles laughs they did it in record time. What a great group, and smart. They asked questions of me that were meaningful and caring. Girls, you gave a number of children less for-tunate than us, a happier and brighter Thanksgiving. I suspect you all are going to be Great Girl Scouts. I am already thinking of another project. God Bless you, your moms and Mrs Allison, you made my day! Pete the Pantry Guy La Sra.
