THE UGLY TRUTH ABOUTYOUR PRETTY CLOTHES
Your jeans emit more than 3 KG of
Carbon Dioxide
Your T-shirt wastes 700 Gallons of
water - that is 140 water cooler jugs
Most of your clothes are not
biodegradable, which means they sit in
landfills for at least 200 years
You take part in making Textiles one of
the poorest recycling rates of any
reusable material
You have about 20 unworn pieces sitting in
your closet right now that you refuse to throw,
regardless of your gender and sexuality
On average, Your family owns $7000 of
clothing, but 1/3 of that is never worn.
Australians waste $1.56 billion on clothes,
accessories and personal care items that are
never used
At the same time, You are buying 5 times as
much clothing as your parents did back in
their days

YES:Genuine Exchange of cultures
The exchanging hands of clothes from one culture to another is a unique cultural
experience. A Samoan man taking a sari for his daughter in exchange of his lava lava,
which will get taken by a Malaysian girl is the epitome of authentic cultural
experiences. While donating is an act, GCSM is an experience.
