An Introduction

I am a 2007 graduate of Kendall College of Art and Design.

I graduated with a Bachelors of Fine Art with a focus in drawing.

I am currently pursuing my Masters Degree in Education with a focus on teacher leadership from the University of Phoenix.

I live in Manistique and have been married for four years.

Outside of school I enjoy hunting, fishing, horse back riding, reading, music, gardening, and throwing pottery.

Classroom Rules

Be in your seat and on task when the bell rings.

Stay on task until it is time to clean up.

Do NOT misuse or mistreat classmates, teachers, or materials.

Use only constructive criticism.

Do not bring work from other classes.

Cell Phones

School policy states no cell phones in the classroom.

There will be no warnings. I confiscate the phone the first

time. 1st Hour and 2nd Hour students

your phone will be kept until lunch.

5th Hour students your phone will be kept until the end of the day.

The phone goes to the office the second time.

Leave closed until instruction has been given

Most lessons and in class information will be supplied online.

I support listening to music with the use of headphones.

You will often refer to your computer for visual aides.

Objectives

Objectives are what the state requires me to teach and you to learn in this class.

The objective may not change every day.

They will be written on the white board.

Third marking period – Three dimensional Mixed Media 5-6 Projects

Fourth marking period – Three dimensional Clay 5-6 Projects

Each project is worth 20 points total

Each project follows the same rubric

Each project is critiqued in class

Each student independently proposes a reasonable grade supported by artistic evidence. I will then agree with the proposal or give a counter grade proposal supported by my own evidence. At this time we will come to an agreement on a fair grade.

High School Research Papers

There will be one research paper per semester.

Research paper will follow M.L.A. format.

Each paper will require at least three legitimate resources.

Each paper will be at least three pages long and follow a thesis format.

Quizzes and Exams

Contents Vocabulary Technique Art History

Quizzes – at least one will be given every month.

Exams - at least one will be given every month. A midterm and final exam will also be given.

Drawers

Write first initial and last name on six inches of masking tape and stick to drawer on right side of handle.

One person per drawer. You are responsible for cleaning your drawer

periodically and at the end of each semester. Do not store class tools or materials in your

drawers. Do not store graded work in your drawer. Take graded projects home or dispose of them. Store your sketch book, at least one #2 pencil, in-

process work, and any personal materials or tools in your drawer.

Project Displays

Some work from each class will be put on display at their completion.

The top pieces from each project will be kept in my office to be displayed at the end of year show.

You will be held responsible for all tools/materials.
