FBCOKC – A family of faith, growing in God’s love, striving to be faithful.

There are wonderful and sacred gifts coming from this crazy challenging year of 2020. For example, worship on Sunday felt so different than ever before. There was a sweetness to the fellowship, even looking at faces with masks and foggy glasses. We were meant to worship together and to fellowship with one another. The end of Acts chapter 2 is on my mind this week.

They devoted themselves to the apostles teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe and

many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. Selling their possessions and goods, they

gave to anyone as he had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all people. And the Lord added to their

number daily those who were being saved.

The early church found ways to be together inventing the wheel as they went. They were devoted to one another and cared for each other . They made sure they were all in it together, really. This past Sunday, there was something overwhelming about meeting together again in the house of the Lord. We are remembering our foundation and our calling. Thank you for coming or joining us online. We had 92 people join us for worship this first week back and many more watching online. We are wading into the water, finding our way through uncharted waters. We will continue to adjust each week and do the best we can to make wise decisions. I am grateful to be a member of such a grace-filled and loving church family. There isn’t one right way to reopen, so we will walk in humility and wisdom and do the best we can.

It is my prayer that we find new ways to live out Acts 2. It is time for us to dream new dreams about the church in 2020. Fellowship may look different for a season but different doesn’t mean bad. It means crea-tive, it means intentional, and sometimes that ends up being better than before. Would you pray with me as we look to God to lead us each step we take? Pray for God to speak to us and for our hearts to be open to hearing from God.

God is alive and moving in our church, in our city and in our world. We just need eyes to see it. He is always at work long before we can see or understand. So keep your eyes up and keep looking for the light. Keep listening to God and striving to be faithful to live out your calling as followers of Jesus Christ. You are loved, dear friends.

Sarah
