This Sunday night we will gather on our church property and begin to set it up for our annual Pumpkin Patch Outreach. There are so many great memories created on these upcoming, crisp fall days that will spent on the Patch. We will have the opportunity to meet new families, host hun- dreds of early elementary age children, and also fellowship with one another. I hope you will take the time to follow the link at pryorcog.com and sign up to volun- teer for a couple of shifts over the course of the Patch. If you are free during the daytime hours, we especially need your help on the days we host field trips. There is a calendar of operating hours on page 6 of the newsletter. The calendar also shares some of our special events held at the Patch. On Saturday, October 18 we will have camel rides for the children as a special addition to the Fall Break weekend. Also on Saturday, October 25 we will have a movie night at the Patch. We will be projecting a fam- ily favorite, Charlotte’s Web. There will also be fire pits and s’mores. It sounds like a great evening to come and enjoy, and invite friends to come with you. As always my prayer for this event is that we will be able to demonstrate to our commu- nity true hospitality. May they know that FCOG is a group of people who Love God, Love Others, and are willing to Live Out that love. Thank you for helping make this out- reach possible! Those octagonal, red signs that have four white letters on them become crucial in our driving. Pryor has quite a few four-way stops around town, and if you ignore their signs you may find yourself in danger of a collision or a ticket. In the same way, Scripture offers us signs of caution, calling us to stop certain practices in order to honor God and experience abundant life. When we ignore these commands to STOP, we find ourselves care-lessly moving through the intersections of life, often bringing about our own demise. Throughout the month of October we will allow Scripture to remind us some of the things we need to STOP doing, like making ex-cuses, comparing ourselves to others and living in fear. Some of these are things we know we need to STOP, and we even have a desire to STOP, but we struggle actually putting on the brakes. Throughout each mes-sage, Pastor Andrew will work not only to point out why Scripture calls us to STOP these activities, but offer practical suggestions that can help STOP these things dead in their tracks!
