COULD YOU SAY IF THESE CHARACTERISTICS ARE TRUE OR FALSE?
The cell perpetuates itself.
COULD YOU SAY IF THESE CHARACTERISTICS ARE TRUE OR FALSE?
It´s responsible of the main organisms´ characteristics.
COULD YOU SAY IF THESE CHARACTERISTICS ARE TRUE OR FALSE?
The cell contains genetic information.
COULD YOU SAY IF THESE CHARACTERISTICS ARE TRUE OR FALSE?
The invention of the microscope in the late 1500s revealed to early scientists a whole new world of tiny cells. Most cells are so small that they cannot be seen without a microscope.
COULD YOU SAY IF THIS INFORMATION IS CORRECT OR WRONG?Nucleus:
Is the cell control´s assistant, it doesn’t control any activities. It is very important in cell reproduction.
COULD YOU SAY IF THIS INFORMATION IS CORRECT OR WRONG?
MitochondriaIt releases energy from alcohol. It converts energy stored in garbage.
COULD YOU SAY IF THIS INFORMATION IS CORRECT OR WRONG?
CytoplasmIt is the jelly like substance that contains water to stop the cell functioning. It contains sugars, salts, proteins and aminoacids.
COULD YOU SAY IF THIS INFORMATION IS CORRECT OR WRONG?
VacuoleIt stores food, water and wastes. It is filled with a liquid that contains various poisonous substances.
COULD YOU SAY IF THIS INFORMATION IS CORRECT OR WRONG?
LysosomeIt contains enzymes that help in the excretion of nutrients and gases.

IT´S ________________• Boundary of the cell
• Made of a phospholipid bilayer
It´s __________• Controls center of the cell
• Contains DNA
• Surrounded by a double membrane
• Usually the easiest organelle to see under a microscope
• Usually one per cell
• Contains • Chromosomes• Nucleolus
It´s_______________• Acts as skeleton and muscle
• Provides shape and structure
• Helps move organelles around the cell
• Made of three types of filaments
It´s _____________________• Connected to nuclear membrane
• Highway of the cell
• Rough ER: studded with ribosomes; it makes proteins
• Smooth ER: no ribosomes; it makes lipids
It´s_____________• Site of protein synthesis
• Found attached to rough ER or floating free in cytosol
• Produced in a part of the nucleus called the nucleolus
That looks familiar…what is a polypeptide?
It´s ________________• Looks like a stack of plates
• Stores, modifies and packages proteins
• Molecules transported to and from the Golgi by means of vesicles
It´s______________
Garbage disposal of the cell
Contain digestive enzymes that break down wastes
It´s ______________• “Powerhouse of the cell”
• Cellular respiration occurs here to release energy for the cell to use
• Bound by a double membrane
• Has its own strand of DNA
It´s ___________• Found in plant and bacterial cells
• Rigid, protective barrier
• Located outside of the cell membrane
• Made of cellulose (fiber)
It´s_________________ • Large central vacuole usually in plant cells
• Many smaller vacuoles in animal cells
• Storage container for water, food, enzymes, wastes, pigments, etc.
It´s___________ Aids in cell
division Usually found only
in animal cells Made of
microtubules
One Name, Many TypesThere are many types of cells. In biology class, you will usually work with plant-like cells and animal-like cells. We say animal-like because an animal type of cell could be anything from a tiny microorganism to a nerve cell in your brain. Plant cells are easier to identify because they have a protective structure called a cell wall made of cellulose. Plants have the wall; animals do not. Plants also have organelles like the chloroplast (the things that make them green) or large water-filled vacuoles.
NOW, READ THIS SHORT ARTICLE,AS A SUMMARY AND DO THE CORRESPONDING ACTIVITY!!!
We said that there are many types of cells. Cells are unique to each type of organism. Humans may have hundreds of types of cells.
Some cells are used to carry oxygen (O2) through the blood (red
blood cells) and others might be specific to the heart. If you look at
very simple organisms, you will discover cells that have no defined
nucleus (prokaryotes) and other cells that have hundreds of nuclei (multinucleated). The thing they all have in common is that they
are compartments surrounded by some type of membrane.
Related to the last article can you say if these sentences corresponding to them? Are they related? True? False?
In biology class, you will usually work with plant-like cells
and animal-like cells.
A
B
C
Plant cells are easier to identify because they don
´t have a defense structure called a cell
grille made of gelatine.
Plants also have organelles like the chloroplast (the things that
make them green) or large
water-filled vacuoles.
Humans may have 125 of types
of cells. Some cells are used to carry oxygen (O2) through the blood
(green blood cells)
DE
They all have in common is that they are compartments
surrounded by some type of membrane.
Now, did you remeember the diseases related to
