APRIL 2017 VOLUME 23 ISSUE 2 FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH PIGEON FORGE LOVING GOD AND LOVING PEOPLE Well Glory! It’s been a wonderful March & April is upon us. Praise God for your faithfulness, prayers, giving, and sweet spirit. I’m writing this month with a ‘broken wing’ so I’ll be brief. I ran across this poem about “What’s Right With the Church” and wanted to share it with you. “Instead of finding fault with the church, why don’t we rejoice in what is right with it? Why not thank God that He has blessed us with a church that is alive, growing and honored with His presence? Why not look around and thank God for the people who make up the church body? I say there is plenty right with the church! That is what I want to look at. That is what I want to focus on and God helping me, that’s what I will do!” “I think that I shall never see Where gossips never peddle lies; A church that’s all it ought to be: Or make complaints or criticize; A church whose members never stray Where all are always sweet and kind, Beyond the straight and narrow way; And all to others’ faults are blind. A church that has no empty pews, Such perfect churches there may be, Whose pastor never has the blues, But none of them are known to me. A church whose deacons always deak, But still, we’ll work, and pray, and plan And none is proud, and all are meek; To make our own the best we can.” Shepherds Notes God bless you; I love you all in Jesus! -Bro. FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH PIGEON FORGE

LOVING GOD AND LOVING PEOPLE

Well Glory! That is what I want to focus on and God helping me, that’s what I will do!”

“I think that I shall never see Where gossips never peddle lies;A church that’s all it ought to be: Or make complaints or criticize;A church whose members never stray Where all are always sweet and kind, Beyond the straight and narrow way; And all to others’ faults are blind. A church that has no empty pews, Such perfect churches there may be, Whose pastor never has the blues, But none of them are known to me. A church whose deacons always deak, But still, we’ll work, and pray, and plan And none is proud, and all are meek; To make our own the best we can.”

#PRAY4PASSION

The “P” in passion stands for PRAY. We are encouraging students and families to pray for those who are far from God. We have a divine mandate to love and reach out to those who are without Christ and we know that any effort we make toward reaching people for Christ needs to be soaked in prayer.

Who do you know who is far from God?

When is the last time you included him or her in your prayer life?

This month, make those far from God a priority in your prayer life.

PRAY for those who are far from God!

-Pastor Nick

APRIL 2017 VOLUME 23 ISSUE 2

It is hard to believe it is already Easter! We are super busy in the Worship Ministry right now getting ready for Palm Sunday, Resurrection Sunday and our Good Friday service. We have lots of wonderful music coming these next few weeks, and it’s very exciting times. We will have the orchestra with us both Palm and Resurrection Sunday. The program this year is entitled “It is Finished” and is a telling of the the Easter Story through old hymns and new celebratory Gospel songs that proclaim “It was Finished On the Cross!!” Then on Good Friday, join us as One Accord leads us in worship and we join together for a special time of the Lord’s Supper, and witnessing a Messianic Seder celebration with Pastor Wayne, as he goes through the elements of how we see Christ in each part of the Passover meal. It is going to be great! I hope you will prayerfully consider inviting your unchurched friends to these special services. I love you all, and as always, it is a true joy to stand before you leading us in song!

Love and prayers,

Bro. Joel
