From the Pastor’s Desk How soon we forget

With all the news, locally and globally being devoted to addressing the Coronavirus tragedy,

it’s easy to become distracted not only from our everyday routines, but also from what time of

the year this is. It seems as if Easter has become just a fleeting memory. Churches struggled to

invent ways to continue to have services without jeopardizing the safety of their members. And

even though most did not just close their doors and discontinue services, it seems that the mes-

sage was somewhat lost amidst all the confusion.

Now don’t get me wrong—I recognize the danger and the death that this virus has brought to

our world, and it is tragic. The death toll continues to rise, and it seems as if there is no solution or remedy to

this Pandemic. I mourn with the families who have lost love ones to this awful disease, and my spirit is trou-

bled by just thinking of the tremendous amount of souls that are entering into eternity every minute and hour

of the day.

Death is inevitably for all of us for Hebrews 9:27 says “And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after

this the judgment”. That is why I thought it might be appropriate for us to revisit the resurrection story before

we forget about what it meant and what Jesus provided for us early on that Sunday morning.

Hanging beside our Lord that day were two criminals. These two criminals died that day, as did Jesus; but their

eternal destinies were radically different because of the choice each one made while hanging on a cross facing

certain death. One man made the wrong decision and was eternally separated from God forever, but the other

one made the right choice and is with the Lord eternally. (Luke 23:39-43)

The sobering reality is that every human being must make this same choice, and their decision will determine

their eternal destiny. Every day is made up of choices. They can be as mundane as deciding what to eat or as

important as who to marry. Throughout life we must make philosophical, financial, vocational, educational, medical, relational, and political choices; and every decision carries consequence, whether minor or major,

good or bad. But the most important decision we will ever make is a spiritual one which has eternal ramifica-

tions.

“...When He rose, He conquered

death, hell and the grave.” __________________________________________

That`s why it’s important that we don’t forget the

resurrection story. Jesus went to Calvary to save

mankind from their sins. The Bible teaches us that

all have sinned and fallen short of God`s glory. It

also teaches us that the wages (payment) of sin is

death. (Romans 3:23, 6:23). When He rose from the

grave on that glorious first day of the week. He con-

quered death, hell and the grave.

Those two criminals represent the entire human race.

They had almost everything is common except one

thing—how they responded to the one on the cross

between them. We are all divided by the cross of

Christ. On one side are those who believe in Jesus,

and on the other are those who reject Him. All it

takes for someone to cross the divide is the grace of

a Savior and the faith of a sinner.

There were three crosses that day. The Man in the

center died for the sins of others, the man on the

right died to his own sin, and the one on the left died

in his sin. That`s the message of Easter, you`re never

too lost, and it`s never too late to come to Jesus.

Let`s not forget!

Jesus is Lord,

Pastor Edwards

Hosanna Circle Greetings Sisters,

During this time of uncertainty and

unrest, let us all try to remain posi-

tive and hopeful. Romans 12:12

says, “Rejoice in hope, be patient in

tribulation, be constant in prayer.”

Ma y we find strength in our faith, to

face the future without fear.

To help us, we’re appreciating the beauty God pro-

vides. Our vase has had lovely Daffodils here at the

table, our Easter Lily is so beautiful, our Tulips are

just ready to burst into color, the grass is once again

turning a bright green, as we anticipate the green

leaves on trees. Use this time in part, at least to en-

joy the beauty we do have. Make this a time for

some relaxing and refreshment of your soul. Last

evening we experienced just that, as we watched the

gently falling snowflakes outside our front window.

In closing, 1 Peter 5:7 says, “Let Him have all your

worries and cares, for He is always thinking about

you and watching everything that concerns you.”

Sisters, we will not be having our May circle meet-

ing. I’m sorry. I miss you all so much. God bless

each of you—keep well.
